The TUA Kids Dealing With Abuse Pt. 2

find it super interesting (as someone who’s really into psychology) that The Umbrella Acedemy at its core is just about seven siblings and the different ways they deal with their abuse.

If y’all have any theories or thoughts different to mine then feel free to add them or discus, I’d love to hear them.

Diego: Diego, let’s face it, has a pretty boring power compared to all of his siblings. In the show he can curve anything he throws which is useful enough but when put in with a group with super strength, time travel capabilities, and ect, it falls short. That is probably why he let his father pitt him against Luther, he needed an outlet to show himself and everyone else that he could be better then they thought he could. He took the most “normal” or stereotypical approach to dealing with abuse, he left the house and tried to make it on his own. However, Diego never really stopped trying to be what his father wanted him to be, he still became basically a vigilante and he never gave up on trying to prove that just because he was “number two” didn’t mean he couldn’t be a better leader then Luther. Another thing that Diego does is hold grudges, he never forgave his father for being an abusive asshole to him and his siblings, as much as he may resent the umbrella academy he can’t give it up because it’s all he knows and he doesn’t want to be plunged into the unknown even if that means doing exactly what his father wanted him to do.

I’m ready for the moment when Klaus and the others are in a fight and Klaus picks up a gun off the floor. Maybe someone like Luther is like “woah Klaus be careful” but before he can finish, Klaus has taken the safety off, checked the bullets, and then proceeds to perfectly shoot everyone they’re fighting in the forehead.

And five is in the background like “yeah he fought in Vietnam.”

I figure since I’ve added so many chapters since I first posted about it I may as well post about it again. 

Summary: It hadn’t been until he had seen Vanya locked in that vault that Klaus had realized how much he and his sister had in common. Now that they’ve gone back in time, Klaus wonders if maybe this is his chance to really get to know Vanya.

Luther: Luther was probably the least physically abused of his siblings if only for the fact that he could easily control his powers, however he still grew up with Sir Reggie’s strict schedules and constant watching over. This caused him to grow into the stereotypical “rebellious teen” but he didn’t go through this phase until adult hood. When he was younger (and pretty much until Sir Reggie betrayed his trust with the moon thing) he believed his father to be the center of the universe and the only thing that mattered to him was making his father proud and making sure his siblings did the same (classic big bro stereotype). Once he found out that his father sent him to the moon for nothing he broke down, the first time he had Alison (a person he trusted) who helped him cope, the second time though he only had Klaus (who in Luther’s mind is nothing but a junkie) and he felt like the best way to cope was becoming like Klaus. Due to being the child of a strict parent, he was pretty much experiencing the world for the first time ever and it was way to much stimuli for him (especially since he was drunk and sad) which caused him to go way over his limit and do things he will regret. In fact, the only reason he’s not dead/in jail for killing the guys that wanted to attack him at the rave is because Klaus was there to stop the guys before they got to Luther.
