A new girl claiming to be family shows up on the Unoβs doorstep but not everything is as it seems as she trains to be an operative. Meanwhile, an adult with a connection to this child becomes involved in the DCFDTLβs lives as trouble ensues.
Chapter 5: Papers Please
"Nigel, quick! Which top do you think I should wear?"
The bald child turned in his chair at the table raising his brow at the girl who ran in the doorway still in her pajamas, swallowing his mouth full of sugar-coated rainbow munchie cereal before answering.
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean, what do I mean?" Robin questioned back, raising her arms that had some of her clothes folded over them to try and emphasize that this was a decision worth some importance. "It's my first day at a new school. I don't know what kind of impression I should make. Should I wear something that says, "I'm a lot of fun! Come be friends with me!" Or something that gives off a mysterious sort of vibe that makes me seem too cool to approach but they secretly want to?"
It was the start of a new week which meant it was time for Robin to officially start school at Gallagher Elementary. It had also been a week since she had first moved in with the Unos'. It seemed like such a short time but she's already infiltrated their treehouse and started gathering minor information when she was able to, "helped" out with two of their missions, and met a strange group of kids who she would secretly be working with, went to a party that she actually found herself enjoying up until the end, and now she was waiting for acceptance to start training for the Kids Next Door. Since her little side mission failed the other night there was no backing out of becoming an operative now that she agreed to it. She would just have to work it in her favor somehow.
"I shouldn't have to be the one to tell you this, Robin" Nigel said as he hopped down from the chair with his now empty bowl and walked over to the sink. "But you're not that cool." He rinsed the milk from his bowl but left the dirty dish there for his mother to take care of later.
Robin pouted as he emphasized the word "cool". Maybe she wasn't considered the most popular but that didn't mean that she wanted her new classmates to think negatively about her.
"Like you're one to talk." She mumbled, sticking her tongue out at him.
"I'm just confused why you would even ask 'cause if you haven't noticed we all wear the same thing every day so why bother changing how you look now?" Nigel pointed out with a slight shrug. "Whatever you feel comfortable in is fine but I suggest you hurry up. We need to leave in a half hour."
Nigel moved past her and up the stairs to finish getting ready himself. He wasn't wrong. They had the option to wear whatever they wanted but they all chose some sort of comfort clothing that they wore every single day and no one seemed to question it. Guess she would still stick with her favorite sweater after all.

Up in his room, Nigel logged onto his computer real quick to check for any more updates on Robin. Yesterday he had sent in a request to have someone from Global Command do a background check on her and to his surprise they got back to him fairly fast. This was mainly due to the lack of information they were able to gather. Just searching someone's name wasn't that simple but learning that she was a foster child, they hacked into the system she was supposed to be associated with and there was no Robin Hughes listed anywhere. They couldn't find Patricia Foster either. The files were heavily guarded for privacy reasons but this wasn't their first encounter with a foster kid and usually, a name still came up proving they were part of the system. They couldn't find Robin no matter how much they searched.
Looking at the screen now, the same message saying that they would continue to look into it when they had the time flashed back at him so there was nothing new to report yet. Nigel sighed and turned off his computer before leaning back in his chair. His suspicions had been raised even higher but Robin was acting like her friendly self again so he had to play along and pretend all was normal. He would just have to keep a close eye on her until the next course of action could be made.
A knock on his door made him nearly jump since he had been lost in thought and he turned to see Robin standing there with a backpack hanging off one of her shoulders.
"Your parents want us both down in the living room." She told him before disappearing back down the hall.
Nigel sighed and made sure he had everything in his school bag before heading downstairs to see what his parents wanted. He saw his mom smiling while taking pictures of Robin who stood a bit awkwardly by the fireplace.
"Oh, Nigel there you are! Go stand by Robin for a few photos!"
"What's with the pictures?" He questioned, throwing his bag on the chair and folding his arms. After Saturday's events, he wasn't sure he would ever care to have his photo taken again any time soon.
"It's my little cousin's first day of school! We want to be able to capture this moment just like we did with you when you first started Gallagher." Monty smiled, feeling proud that their new family member would be in good hands with his son showing her the ropes.
Nigel felt Robin grab his arm and pull him over to where she had been standing. "As embarrassing as this is, at least it's just in your house and they're not taking photos in front of the school where everyone can see us," Robin whispered to him
She had a point. Giving in, Nigel let Robin wrap her arm around him in a side hug deciding it was better to get this over with before his parents did get the idea to continue this at school.
Once they were finished, Nigel suggested that they get moving. They would be walking to school and they had to be in class before the final bell or else they would receive an F for the day from Mrs. Thompson. At least it wasn't detention but it was almost as bad.
Grabbing her backpack and lunch that Jen made for her later, Robin started for the door but was stopped when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned her head to see Monty smiling at her before he released her so she could head off with his son. That gesture was so simple but something about it was..comforting. Robin pushed away the feeling before telling Nigel she would race him to the next stop sign.

The scent of coffee was strong as Scar filled a third pot into a large mug. Cuppa Joe's serving always took more than the normal amount. Instead of having a bunch of normal-sized cups, he insisted on using the massive one he always carried. She didn't mind but it did take her longer to tend to other customers when she had to serve him.
"Sorry for the wait you guys. Do you know what you want to order?"
Mr. Boss, Crazy Cat Lady, Mr. Fibb and Mr. Wink, and Count Spankulot all sat on some sofas and chairs the cafe had. Scar was aware that they were holding a meeting since she had also received a text on the group chat they added her to. Most villains were included but these guys met up more often to discuss plans.
"Don't worry about it." Mr. Boss waved it off as no big deal before placing down everyone's orders.
"Isn't Knightbrace supposed to be here? Mr. Fibb questioned and Mr. Wink followed right after.
"He usually always attends these meetings, does he not?"
While Scar was writing everything down, a familiar scent hit her nose along with one she didn't recognize.
"He's heading down the street here now and he's not alone." She told them, getting a few strange looks.
"Have you spoken vith him recently?" The Count asked, adding a pastry he wanted to try along with the order.
"Uh, no I-"
Before Scar could explain, the dental-based villain walked in with a cheerful-looking man with his head covered in a roll of toilet paper following him inside.
"Hiya, guys!"
Small groans came from the group as they tried to suppress them the best they could.
"Aw, geez! It's the Toiletnator!" Mr. Boss sighed, moving over so Knightbrace could sit down.
"Thanks so much for the vacation guys! I needed some time to relax. I had a great time!"
In truth, they had only sent him away so he wouldn't interfere with their plans but of course, by the time they were able to meet up, he still found a way to show up to their meeting.
"Why did you bring him here?" Mr. Wink whispered to Knightbrace.
"I ran into him on my way here and he insisted on coming with me. There wasn't much I could do. Even if I did try sending him on a detour you know he would have shown up sooner or later."
The toilet-based villain didn't seem to hear them as he went to grab an extra chair so he could join them. Scar didn't understand why they were acting so ill towards the man. He seemed a little goofy compared to the others but that didn't necessarily mean it was a bad thing. Scar went to turn after asking Knightbrace what he wanted, only to bump into the new villain she had yet to meet, dropping her notepad in the process.
"Oh, sorry about that! Here, let me get that for you." He picked up the pad and went to hand it to her only to stop and blink seeing that this wasn't their usual server. Her red hair being a similar shade to the orange mug hat mask the cafe employee wore with his uniform kind of threw him off for a moment.
"Thank you." Scar offered him a smile. "Would you like some coffee too?"
Snapping out of it, the Toiltnator shook his head.
"Heavens no! Do you realize what that stuff does to your digestive system?" He raised a brow at her in question before giving a friendly smile in return. "I'll take a large glass of milk instead!"
Scar nodded, writing it down as she stepped away to fill their orders.
"When did she start working here?" The Toiletnator asked, sitting down with them.
"Sometime last week while you were gone." Cat Lady replied. "She also works for Father and those kids of his."
The Toiletnator gulped at the mention of the man on fire. He was lucky not to be involved with Father but it still sent shivers down his spine knowing what he was capable of. He didn't know if this woman was just as terrifying or not but he would still try and be nice.
"So what else has been going on while I was away?" He changed the subject away from the red-haired waitress for now. "Any plans to destroy those pesky Kids Next Door?"
He didn't remember seeing anything mentioned on the group chat about gathering today. Must have been another glitch if he missed it.
"That's why we're here." Mr. Fibb began.
"We're going to be discussing ideas and see which one would work out the best." Mr. Wink added.
The meeting was to plan things out but hopefully, by the time they were able to take action, they could send him on another goose chase that would keep him out of the way and hopefully work this time.
"Oh, fun! Can I go first!" He asked as he raised his hand as if waiting to be called on. "Please!"
Mr. Boss sighed and leaned back in his seat, taking out the cigar from his mouth for a moment.
"Alright, alright. Tell us what you got, Toiletnator."
The toilet villain grinned but then it began to falter when he realized he didn't think it through beforehand. He was just so excited to be included that he jumped right in. He had to give them something to work with though. This could be his moment to have them respect him a little more.
"We could- We could uh..Capture one of the operatives and use them for bait! Yeah!" His confidence was starting to come back. "We could lure them all into a trap by using one of their own against them. They won't be able to resist trying to save another kid so we'll have them right where we want them!" He finished with an evil laugh.
It wasn't some big plan but it wasn't a bad idea at all. They could include it in some way but the question was, who would they try and kidnap? Someone from Sector V perhaps?
"I can see if Robin would want to volunteer." Scar spoke as she came back over with a tray and began setting everyone's cups down. "If they jump at the chance to go after her it would prove that she's earned their trust."
"I still don't know about having that brat of yours be involved." Mr. Boss spoke.
Most of them were all aware by now that another child was also trying to take down Sector V. It was an unspoken rule that any child of a villain was off limits, but in this case, they would have to make it look real when she was attacked along with the other brats.
"Well, she's your best bet right now unless you want to chance it with an operative you know won't hesitate to try and kick your butts."
The Toiletnator looked between them in confusion as it was agreed that this Robin child would be their target. What kind of beef did she have with Sector V? Some kids didn't always see eye to eye with each other but usually there was some sort of reason for it. Before he could open his mouth to ask what they were talking about, Spankulot pulled out a flyer from inside his cloak pocket, seeming to have something in mind.
"There is a carnival coming up. I say ve stage an ambush during that time and take Robin in the middle of the chaos!"
It was brilliant! Having a bunch of kids gathered in one place, it wouldn't come as a surprise if they were to attack. They could sneak Robin away while they are busy fighting and put a few extra bratty kids in their place as a bonus.
"I like it." Mr. Boss nodded his head in approval. "Say Mr. Fibb and Mr. Wink, do you two think you could disguise one of your super chairs as one of the game booths?"
They couldn't make it too obvious that they were planning something right away. They wanted the kids to have their guard down while they enjoyed the carnival for a short time before they made their move.
"It shouldn't be a problem. Right, Mr. Wink?"
"Indeed Mr. Fibb. I think we can have everything ready by then."
It was decided that Mr. Fibb, Mr. Wink, and Crazy Cat Lady would be the main source of the attack. While they were distracting those pesky operatives the Count and Knightbrace would swoop in when the time was right and take Robin. Mr. Boss would be observing everything from a secret location and direct orders to them.
"What can I do?" The Toiletnator excitedly waited for Mr. Boss to give him a job as well.
"Uh, you can.." Mr. Boss trailed off. He had to give the guy something that would make sure that he wouldn't be in the way.
"Where do you plan to meet after you receive your target?" Scar jumped into the conversation.
She made herself comfortable and sat on the armrest of the chair Crazy Cat Lady was sitting on. One leg was crossed over the other and she stroked the cheek of one of the old woman's cats that moved closer to inspect her.
"There is this old warehouse that should be big enough," Knightbrace suggested. "We could make it seem like we are interrogating someone close to them for information and have a trap ready by the time reinforcements arrive."
"We can wait at the warehouse and make sure everything is ready." Scar motioned between her and the Toiletnator. "You'll need somebody on standby to help make sure things are running smoothly once you get there, right?"
Scar wasn't sure why but it seemed like they didn't want him involved. Had he messed up on one of their missions in the past? Whatever the reason, she wasn't going to shove him away before getting to know him first. She didn't mind partnering up with the Toiletnator for this little project.
"Sure, that works." Mr. Boss nodded, seeing that it made the Toiletnator satisfied. He wasn't sure if she could keep him from screwing things up or not but he was glad that was settled for now.
"You're coming too?" Knightbrace questioned.
"Of course, but if you don't mind I think I'll stick to behind the scenes." Scarlett knew that she would have to come face to face with Sector V sooner or later but in case Nigel recognized her as Patricia, she wouldn't make her debut just yet.
They spent a few more minutes discussing what could be done until the other cafe employee came over.
"Uh, Scarlett? It's great you're getting along with the customers but I could use your assistance over here."
"I'll be right there, Carl." Scar assured with a smile as she stood back up and smoothed out her apron. "It was nice talking with you guys. And it was nice meeting you, Toiletnator."
She gave him a friendly wink and chuckled lightly at his expression as she walked away.

After introducing herself to the class, things went pretty normal for a typical school day during the first few hours. Robin had already received a homework assignment and Wally tried to see if she wanted to bust out with him after only ten minutes. She declined and promised to share her muffin with him if he could hold off until lunch.
This might have been the only time where she could be in a room with both Sector V and the Delightful Children and not have them try to destroy each other. It had been the only empty desk so when she passed by, she snuck a smile to the Delightfuls before sitting behind them.
Scar had informed her that the damages from the party had already been repaired to their mansion. It wasn't as bad as it seemed at the time but their neutral suggestion ray was total junk now. Robin would have gone back over to help clean up but she had to lay low and also send in her application to the Kids Next Door yesterday. She wasn't sure when she would hear back but she was told that it should be real soon.
When the bell rang for lunch, everyone nearly ran out the door to get to the cafeteria. Robin trusted Wally to take her lunch with him while she ran to the bathroom and said that she would meet them there. She had been on her way back when she began to hear a commotion down another hall. Moving closer she saw it was coming from the library. Weren't people supposed to be quiet in that place?
Standing on her tiptoes, Robin looked through the window, and to her surprise, she saw a small group of kids tied to a table while a man wearing a blue graduation cap and gown stood before them gripping a ruler and had a rolling chalkboard behind him. It looked like he had been the one yelling, not planning to release them anytime soon.
"But I'm hungry!" One kid whined, struggling with the binds but the attempt proved to be useless as he remained stuck in his seat.
"Silence!" The man yelled, throwing his hands in the air. "All of you had thought it was okay to talk and disrupt me during my lesson so now you must pay the consequences!"
"You're the worst substitute ever!" Another kid yelled back, glaring up at the adult.
"I won't be just a mere sub for long once the school board sees the amount of actual useful knowledge I can cram into those puny brains of yours instead of the cruddy lessons your teacher was giving you. Now, no more interruptions!"
These kids looked to be a few grades younger and this guy already expected them to be able to understand calculus. They weren't ready for that kind of stuff yet. Heck, even her grade still had a long way to go. The kids looked miserable as this substitute forced them to skip lunch so he could go over his lesson plan he didn't get to go over during class.
This was something that the Kids Next Door would work together to try and stop. Looking around, it seemed that they weren't aware of what was happening as the halls remained bare except for her. She could run and tell Sector V that there was a lunatic in the library but what would it say about her if she didn't try to stand up for these kids herself? If she was going to become an operative she had to take more risks now and knowing where she stood with Nigel and his friends; she didn't want to rely on them if she didn't have to. She was confident that she could deal with one adult and bust them out herself.
He would hear her if she went through the main doors so she snuck in through the computer lab that was connected to the library. Once she was in, she crouched down behind a small bookshelf as she inched her way closer.
"Now, who can tell me the answer to this problem here?" The man pointed to the board with his ruler as he turned to the students. "Danny?"
"I don't know!" The boy named Danny whined. "I want Mrs. Stevenson!"
"Your teacher was foolish to let herself get sick! I, the Terrible Tutor, never get sick so all the more reason they should hire me to take over! You should be grateful I am devoting my time! Finger painting will get you nowhere in life!"
The Terrible Tutor raised his ruler and went to slam it down on the table as a warning that they should take this more seriously and not waste his time by whining. It never came in contact, however, as his wrist was suddenly snatched mid-air causing his body to whip around to see who dared to intervene.
"Even so it's still a lot better than the crud you're trying to force on them." Robin had stepped in when she saw the terrified look on the child's face. The Terrible Tutor may not have gone to hit him but with the way his temper was raised, it could have resulted in that in his next tantrum.
"Ugh! Why does every kid think it's okay to interrupt my lesson plan?!" He yelled as he yanked his wrist free, losing his grip on the ruler.
"Maybe because it's a stupid plan! You do realize these are first-graders, right? They haven't even learned multiplication yet so how can you expect them to be able to understand something that's way too advanced?"
"The faster they learn now the better they will do in society as they get older! I am only trying to shape them for the better but do I get any thanks for all my hard work? No!"
"Sounds like you care more about your self-image than you do for these kids." Robin narrowed her eyes at this manchild as she picked up the ruler and pointed it at him in a threatening manner. "Now, let them go!"
The man began to chuckle causing her to take a cautious step back as she raised a brow.
"I have a better idea."
Lifting his arms straight out, they began to shake before textbooks came flying out of each of his sleeves, aiming straight for Robin. Thinking fast, Robin used the ruler sort of like a bat to hit them out of the way before they could come into contact with her. Using such a small weapon, it could only take so much so when he threw a rather large encyclopedia, the ruler snapped in half from the amount of weight and made her stumble.
"Damn," Robin muttered under her breath before she ducked down and did a somersault past a case of books. She had to move this fight away from the kids so they wouldn't get hit in the crossfire by accident.
The Terrible Tutor rose off his feet and flew around the corner where Robin had gone only to see that she wasn't there. Moving past the first case, he peered down each row trying to find some sort of evidence where she might be hiding. He noticed a book fall from one of the shelves and flew down that row to investigate.
"Now where did you go?" He questioned himself as he got there and saw that she was nowhere to be found.
"Right here!" Robin had jumped down from the case behind him and kicked him in his back, causing him to crash face-first into the shelves in front of him and fall forward. All the books fell off and landed on top of him, burying him underneath a huge pile.
Bouncing off of him when she kicked him, Robin used that moment to run back to the kids while he was distracted.
"You guys need to get out of here." She told them as she began to untie them.
"What about you?" One little girl looked up at Robin worriedly as she was freed.
"You don't need to worry about me," Robin assured her with a smile. "You better get to the cafeteria while it's still open. Can't have you go hungry on top of dealing with this crazy guy."
Robin had just finished untying the last kid when a book flew past her head and slammed against a nearby wall. She looked behind her to see the Terrible Tutor levitating above them with a lot of books surrounding him as he glared down at her.
"Go! Get out of here!" Robin warned the kids and shoved them forward to get them moving toward the door a little faster.
When more books began to fly down towards them, she kicked the leg of the table the kids had previously been sitting at and let it fall forward as it turned into a temporary shield. It allowed the first graders to run out of the library and gave Robin a brief moment to try and come up with some sort of strategy. If she ran out herself there was a chance he wouldn't continue his rant outside of the library where other teachers could see. But that would mean letting him go and capturing more kids when he had the chance. She would have to make sure he was fired from his substitute job and that there was no chance he would become a teacher here.
"First you interfere with my session! Then you dare kick me! And now you released my students when I haven't dismissed them! You leave me no choice but to use this!"
Having to know what he planned to do, Robin peeked her head up over the table as the wind began to pick up. From all the books that flew in a circular motion around him, pages were ripped out and folded together to form an origami creation that breathed to life. Robin looked up into the eyes of a paper dragon as it stared back at her.
"Maybe I should have called for backup." Robin thought as the dragon lunged right for her.

"Shouldn't Robin have been here by now?" Wally asked as he eyed her muffin. He was going to wait until she got here but he found that he couldn't resist and broke off a piece before popping it into his mouth.
"Maybe she's not feeling well?" Hoagie suggested, taking a sip from his chocolate milk.
But still, lunch was almost over by now and there was no sign of their new friend anywhere. Abby thought maybe Robin was sick as well and said that Kuki and her could go look for her but all their attention had turned to a few first graders that passed by with lunch trays in their hands as they overheard their conversation.
"I hope she'll be okay." A little girl looked down at her sandwich with a worried expression. "She saved us but we left her to deal with that adult all by herself."
"I'm sure she'll be fine, Jessica." Danny tried to assure his friend but the tone in his voice wasn't fully confident either. "She's older and probably a little more experienced dealing with this stuff so she might have a better chance than we could've."
"Excuse me.." Feeling a tap on his shoulder, Danny looked up to see a boy with sunglasses along with a few other fourth graders seeming to want their attention. "By any chance, does the girl you're talking about have short brown hair and a slight British accent that comes and goes?"
"Yeah!" Jessica nodded her head frantically. "We don't know who she was but she freed us from the Terrible Tutor who held us captive in the library. We left her alone though once we were able to escape. I hope she's okay.."
Sector V looked at each other, silently questioning what kind of trouble Robin could have got herself into in a short amount of time. Jessica had her head down but looked back up when a dark-skinned girl placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry kid. We'll make sure that nothing bad happened to her but I think your friend here is right." Abby said as she looked at Danny. "Robin is a lot tougher than she looks."
Getting up from their lunch table, the five operatives moved out to see if Robin had been able to manage by herself for this long. The Terrible Tutor wasn't a huge threat compared to other villains but when his temper rose high enough it usually took at least one other operative to put him in his place. What had she been thinking, fighting an adult on her own? She knew that they would have backed her up in an instant if they were aware of the situation sooner.
"Are we sure that little girl said library? I've never heard of that place before. Sounds made up to me." Wally frowned as he took the last bite of the muffin.
Abby rolled her eyes, not too surprised that the blonde had never stepped foot into the library before. "Come on, Fool." She told him, grabbing his hood to pull him along.

Sector V bust down the double doors to the library, ready to jump into action but stopped when they saw the battle had already come to an end. Water dripped down from the ceiling indicating that the sprinklers had been sent off which kind of explained all the soggy paper but it still left so many questions. They couldn't see the Terrible Tutor anywhere but Robin was in the middle of it all, throwing piles of wet paper into a garbage bin.
"Oh, hey guys!" She turned and waved as soon as she heard them come in. "Sorry, I didn't eat lunch with you. Kind of ended up in the middle of something."
Robin laughed lightly as they lowered their weapons and moved further into the room, being careful not to step on any of the mess.
"Uh, Robin?" Abby began as she observed more of the damage that had been made to the library. A table was flipped over, a some chairs seemed to have fallen, and not to mention all the books that didn't get wet were still scattered everywhere. "What did you get yourself into, girl?"
"Yeah, and where is the Terrible Tutor?" Nigel asked, still gripping his weapon in case the adult flew back in again. They left her alone for only half an hour at most and this happened.
"Well, to answer your question about Crazy, someone came and grabbed him already." She would get to that soon but she thought it would be better to start from the beginning. "What happened may or may not be a long story," Robin told them as she began continuing her work while she spoke. "It all started when.."

β βββββ
Explaining how she had found these first graders and helped them out, Robin soon got to the part where the Terrible Tutor had created a dragon made entirely made from paper. It sounded cool but that thing was not fun to deal with.
When it had lunged at her, Robin had ducked back behind the table but that had been a mistake as the force of the impact caused the table to flip in the air and she had to move out of the way fast before it came crashing down on top of her. Loose papers fell off but immediately rose to fold back into place.
How was she supposed to stop this thing? She didn't have any 2x4 technology on her so she had to make do with what little her surroundings provided her. It didn't leave her with many options that could be useful.
"It's pointless!" The Terrible Tutor bellowed down at her, watching as the child continued to try and dodge attacks that came close to snatching her more than once. "You are just one child and can not stop my creation alone!"
The dragon seemed to be almost playing with her as it jumped in front of every corner she tried to turn around. It wasn't giving her much time to strategize but she had to think of something fast. What could defeat a being made entirely from paper? One of the first things that came to mind was fire but that wouldn't work in a public place. But still, there didn't have to be an actual fire to set the sprinklers off.
Robin noticed them on the ceiling before she had ducked down and wedged herself on the bottom of a book cart even if it wasn't the best hiding spot. If she could set them off somehow the dragon would be turned to mush in a matter of seconds. The question was, how was she going to get up there with this beast ready to pounce on her every time its sightless eyes landed on her?
Wait..taking a chance to poke her head back out, Robin could see the dragon in the distance. It may look like it had eyes but with the way its ears twitched listening for movement, Robin concluded that it couldn't see and had been relying on the noise she had been making with all her running around. Now that she knew it didn't have all of its senses, Robin decided to use that to her advantage and began forming a plan in her head.
"Hurry up and destroy the child!" The Terrible Tutor ordered the beast. "The librarian might be back soon and I don't want to be the one to have to clean up this mess!"
He had borrowed the space without asking, thinking it would have been a quiet enough place where no one would disturb him while he gave these students an extra lesson. How had he been so wrong?
He had failed to notice a book was being aimed right at him and when it hit the back of his head, he cried out and ran into a pilar, immediately reaching up to grab his nose. The noise sent the dragon on alert and it lunged at the Terrible Tutor instead, swiping its claws in the air. He barely had time to react and flew further up to avoid being cut.
"Watch it, you mongrel! You're supposed to be going after that girl not-" He turned where he last saw Robin and noticed her coming right for them now, riding on the cart, pushing with her foot to go faster.
She had used him to distract and confuse the dragon long enough for her to be able to form an attack of her own. Once she picked up enough speed, she jumped on the cart and held her arms out to balance herself just as the dragon flew right at her, head-on.
"Please don't fall," Robin told herself as she timed when the dragon got close enough and jumped off the cart, sending it crashing against a wall.
She landed on the back of the dragon's neck and grabbed onto a book spine that acted as one of its scales sticking out so she wouldn't be thrown off like some rag doll. They took a couple of laps around the room as the dragon flew around, trying to figure out how to get this kid off.
Getting a better grip, Robin pulled in the direction that she wanted to go and was slightly relieved that the dragon wasn't too hard to steer around as long as she gave enough force. She had to go up, however, so crawling forward just a little she reached for both of its whiskers and yanked back towards herself. The paper was so tightly wrapped together that she didn't even make a tear but she thought something would have popped loose. What kind of magic did he use on this thing?
The Terrible Tutor stayed levitating from a safe distance wondering what this child was up to. If anything she would only provoke the dragon further the longer she continued to stay on. Watching as she forced it to fly upward, his eyes widened seeing what they were aiming for.
"No, don't do that! My creation will be ruined!"
The Terrible Tutor had caught on to what Robin was planning to do a little too late as she led the dragon right into the sprinkler. The force was enough for it to burst and send water pouring out right onto the beast as it was pushed back toward the ground from the pressure. Robin had been thrown off but pushing her body back up, she grabbed onto a beam, letting her body dangle as water sprayed all around; the first sprinkler setting off a chain reaction to all the others.
Trying to keep a hold of the edge, she glanced down below as the dragon let out a roar. It had been trying to get back up but as Robin predicted, it wasn't a match against water and was becoming a puddle of soggy pages. She watched as the Terrible Tutor rushed right over and tried to bring the beast back to life but it was pointless now as the dragon was no more.
Now that she didn't have to deal with that anymore and could take a little breather, Robin had gone to lift herself fully onto the beam so she could reposition herself to get down but as the water continued to spray out, it had become too slippery to hold on and her breath caught in her throat as she lost her grip. She felt almost weightless for a moment before the reality of gravity kicked in and she felt herself falling. Her eyes desperately tried to scan for somewhere she could land without losing her footing but as she was about halfway down, she felt a pair of arms wrap around her back and the back of her legs as they caught her mid-fall and got Robin back to the ground safely.
They had grabbed her from behind so Robin didn't see who it was at first. She knew it couldn't have been the Terrible Tutor since she could still hear him crying out for his power to work once more. Needing to catch her breath from the adrenaline starting to wear away, she held onto the person's shoulder to steady herself before looking up to see a taller male with blonde hair swept to the side.
"You alright there, kid? It was impressive how you took that thing down." He said as he helped her back to her feet. "The paper dragon is a new move that the Terrible Tutor recently conjured up so we haven't built the right technology to take it down yet but you seemed to have done great all on your own."
He smiled down at her as she stared at him. Who was this guy?
"Kids Next Door operative I assume?" She asked.
"The one and only Numbuh 274." He stood proudly.
"I don't care what Number you are from your stupid organization." The Terrible Tutor stepped away from the mess holding his arms out threateningly. "That brat is going to pay for ruining all that I have tried to accomplish!"
Before he had a chance to shoot more books in her direction, Robin watched as Numbuh 274 ran forward and Roundhouse kicked him, using his combat skills to fight him. If you could even call it a fight. Numbuh 274 took him down in record time and before she knew it, the man had fallen to the floor with a thud having been knocked out. Where was this boy before all the chaos started?
"He won't be bothering anyone else for a while." Numbuh 274 told her as he flung the upper half of the Terrible Tutor's body over his shoulder, intending to drag him away. "Now that he is detained I will personally make sure he is locked up for some time."
"The Kids Next Door Prison? The one that's located somewhere in the Arctic?"
"That's right." He nodded. "We have the best max security so this guy won't be getting out anytime soon."
Robin's heart fell when he said this. If their security was as top-notch as he claimed, was there any hope of getting her father out of that place? She knew that he could handle himself but she felt a pang in her chest as she thought about how much she was missing him. It soon turned to anger as she thought about all of this being Sector V's fault. Her father might not be there if it weren't for them.
"We should get going." Numbuh 274 suggested as he checked the time that was remaining.
He didn't seem to pick up on her change of mood. That or he knew better than to question her on it. Now that everything was done and over with, Robin was able to look around the room and saw just how much damage they had caused. She started to feel a little guilty for ruining a large portion of the Library.
"You go on ahead." She told him. "I'm going to stick around and clean up a bit."
He seemed a little confused that she would even bother but shrugged.
"Suit yourself." He started to drag the Terrible Tutor away but stopped when he neared the exit and turned back to her. "Hey, I never got your name, new kid."
Robin had grabbed the waste paper bin figuring she would try and throw away all that she could before the Librarian did return. The poor woman probably had no idea what had gone down here while she was absent. She might not have approved of what the Terrible Tutor was doing either but it had been Robin's fault the whole place ended up looking like giant spitballs had been shot all over the place. She couldn't fix everything but she felt that she should take responsibility to pick up what she was able to before class started up again.
She paused for a moment to look back up in his direction and gave a smile for a proper greeting.
"Name's Robin Hughes."

"Then he took the Terrible Tutor away and I've been here since." Robin finished explaining.
She had been picking up the whole time as she told them everything. It certainly explained all the paper cuts on her legs and one on her right cheek. Abby started to help, figuring that if Robin insisted on doing this, she didn't have to do it alone. The others stood or sat around while she told them the story. They seemed surprised when she mentioned who had helped her out.
"Numbuh 274 was here? I thought for sure he would have been on the moon base today." Hoagie exclaimed.
"What's the big deal?" Robin wondered. "Is he someone important to the Kids Next Door?"
"You've never seen our supreme leader's face before." Nigel had his arms crossed and leaned against the chair Wally sat in. "So yeah, you could say that he is a pretty big deal."
That was the supreme leader?! She began questioning herself about what kind of impression she had made. He said that he had been impressed with the way she took down that paper dragon on her own but she knew she had been sloppy and was just lucky that it worked out the way she wanted it to. Still, maybe she should be glad that she got the meet and greet with him over with.
"Are we gonna go outside and play soon?" Kuki almost whined itching to play for at least a few minutes before she had to be trapped in a classroom again for a few more hours.
She sprawled across the table that had been turned right back up, letting her head hang upside down over the edge as she fiddled with something in her hands.
"What are you playing with?" Wally questioned, looking to his left at the raven-haired girl who hummed to herself and held what looked to be an envelope before turning her head when she heard him.
"Hm? Oh!" She flipped back up so she was sitting up straight and let her legs dangle over the edge this time. "I found this when we first came in but wanted to hear Robin's story first before giving it to her. I think it might be a love letter." She giggled.
Kuki held up an envelope and on the front was Robin's name printed with a red marker.
"I don't think that's it, Kuki," Robin told her as she walked over and took the letter from her, tearing it open to cure her curiosity about what it could be.
Her eyes silently scanned the page as the others waited for her to say something. Suddenly she grinned and turned towards Nigel.
"You and your team don't have any plans for after school tomorrow, do you?"
"Unless a mission comes up before then." Nigel shrugged. "Otherwise not much is going on, why?"
"Cause I'll need a ride to the Arctic where I can start my first day of training!"
She flipped the paper over and held it out to them while her other hand rested on her hip; a proud look on her face. It was from Numbuh 274 saying that she had been accepted as a new cadet and could start training with Numbuh 60 after school tomorrow. She wasn't sure when he had time to leave the letter but it looked like she made a better impression than she thought if he considered she was good enough to become an operative.
This meant that she could gain access to the same place where her father was being held. Guess joining the Kids Next Door was a good idea after all. She'll need to figure out a way in but she'd plan that out with Scar later.
"That's great, Robin!" Hoagie congratulated.
"Aw, yeah! You'll be one of us soon!" Wally cheered, jumping off his chair to give her a high five.
While Wally, Hoagie, and Kuki excitedly began explaining all the fun things Robin will get to do during her time at the Arctic base, Abby walked over to stand next to Nigel after throwing the last garbage bag with the rest of the pile they cleaned up. She could tell something was off with her leader and questioned him about it.
"I thought you would seem happier for Robin." She raised a brow at him as she heard him sigh.
"It's not that I'm not happy we'll be getting a new operative." Nigel kept his voice low so the others wouldn't hear their conversation. "But- I don't know.. Am I wrong to still think that something is off about her? I just don't think that Robin is being completely honest with us."
Normally Abby might have called him crazy and tried to get him to see the logical side of things but she could tell how lost he was about all of this and wanted a genuine answer. His life had been changed ever since he had to share it with a stranger and even Abby knew how confusing that must be. She already had two siblings but if someone suddenly showed up to live with her family, she wasn't sure how she would have adjusted to the change herself.
"Your instincts might not always be right." She began as she watched the other four begin to jump around in the puddles of water and splash each other; having a bit of fun. "But it's not often that they last this long. I don't see it but if you feel so strongly about this, I guess Numbuh 5 could help you find more information on her."
Nigel smiled at her in thanks for trying to understand how he felt. He promised that if they could find proof that Robin was really who she said she was, he would drop the whole thing and let her in. Who knows? Maybe they could become best friends but he needed to be sure he wasn't going crazy first.
Tomorrow after dropping Robin off, they would go down to the social security office personally and clear things up once and for all.

Happy New Year!! π₯³
SunnieβοΈ: So how was everyone's first day of the year? Mine started off bad cause I have a toothache that made me cry but once that settled down the rest of the day was good. Got to spend it with my step sister and her daughter before they leave to go back home in South Carolina. These past few years have gone by so quickly. I barely remember much of it. My life has changed so much since 2020 which was the worst year for me personally but 2021 was also pretty bad. Don't expect great things but hoping this year will be as good as it can be. π€·ββοΈ

A new girl claiming to be family shows up on the Unoβs doorstep but not everything is as it seems as she trains to be an operative. Meanwhile, an adult with a connection to this child becomes involved in the DCFDTLβs lives as trouble ensues.
Chapter 4: May I Have This Dance?
"Come on. Come on. Where is he?" Robin had been trying to secretly keep an eye out for the mailman while also helping Nigel with a few chores they had to do. She planned to offer to check the mail and casually slip the invitation in along with it but he was running later than usual today. She hoped that he was still coming cause otherwise he won't be back till Monday and she would have to come up with a different strategy. Until then she had spent most of the morning with Nigel and now they were sitting together at the kitchen table, eating a late lunch while chatting.
"The others have finished their chores as well and will arrive shortly." He spoke, taking a bite from the plate of chicken nuggets they were sharing.
"Cool. So about my training-" Robin began. "When will I be able to start?"
"It's not as simple as that, I'm afraid. There are usually a lot of other kids trying to get in at the same time and some don't make it right away. How well you do on the written test will determine if you may proceed or not."
"Boo! You didn't mention having to take a test first." Robin gave a little pout which Nigel sighed at.
"I suppose if I'm being honest I still don't know how I feel about you being here but what I don't doubt is that you'll become an operative. I guess if your heart is really into joining the KND, you're not so bad after all."
Robin could tell that he was having an inner battle with himself over this. He still wasn't fully able to trust her just yet but it seemed he was willing to give her a chance to prove herself. Not like he had much of a choice with everyone else being on board with her.
"Aw, that's the nicest thing you've said to me." Robin smiled and wrapped one arm around his shoulder.
"It's so nice to see the two of you getting along."
Jen came into the kitchen carrying a brown paper sack, having gone to the market to pick up a few things this morning. Having Robin here now was a lot to take in and she knew her son needed time to adjust to the change.
"I think after I put these away I'll grab the mail and then work more on my crocheting. Do you kids have a fun day planned?"
"Our friends will be over soon so I'm sure we'll be keeping busy." Robin took one last bite of her nugget, offering to grab the mail for Jen so she didn't have to.
"Took him long enough." Robin thought, seeing the mailman in the distance.
She had the invitation tucked inside her pocket and once she grabbed the other bills she added it along with them before going back inside. Nigel was standing in the kitchen waiting for her, watching as Robin set the envelopes on the table except one.
"Here Nigel, this came for you."
He mumbled thanks and was about to open it when he saw who it was from. He suddenly kept it at arm's length away from him and grabbed Robin's arm, quickly dragging her along with him as he headed for the elevator to the treehouse. Jen called after them to have a good day, unaware of her son acting strange.
"Whoa Nigel, what's wrong? Did your college acceptance later turn you down?"
Nigel told her this was no time for joking around and that she might have to be decontaminated, making her raise a brow. She didn't expect this reaction from him.
"I'm just saying it should be illegal to make us do chores on a Saturday. It's not right!" They could hear Numbuh 4 complaining to the others as they stepped into the room and Nigel quickly set to work. They must have got here just before the two of them did.
"What's with him?" Abby asked as she walked up to Robin, noticing how their leader was acting all serious.
"No clue." Robin shrugged. Maybe this wouldn't be as easy as she thought.
An alarm was suddenly set off putting all operatives into action. The only thing Robin could do was to follow them and hope Nigel was ready to open the invitation already. They ended up in the briefing room where he stood with a blue apron, yellow oven mitts, and a pair of tongs to protect himself from a piece of paper that it held.
"Bad news team, we have just received a dangerous item in the mail that you'll want to take a look at."
Abby started to read it out loud only for Nigel to swat her hand away and yell for her not to touch it.
"What?" Abby narrowed her eyes at him and put her hands on her hips. "It's just an invitation."
"An invitation to the Kid's All Town Cotillion!" Kuki squealed in excitement and waved her sleeves in the air as the others processed that they were invited to the biggest shindig in town.
"Read the fine print!" Nigel ordered them to take a closer look and at the bottom, it showed that it had been signed by the Delightful Children From Down The Lane.
"Aren't those the kids you mentioned before?" Robin questioned, remembering how Nigel accused her of going near them a few days ago. "Kids can host these things? Kind of impressive."
"Does that mean we can't go?" Kuki sadly asked, sensing that her leader wasn't happy about this and thought maybe he wouldn't let them be included in the fun.
"Of course, we're going!"
Everyone's frowns were instantly turned upside down and Robin joined in on the cheering. Nigel said that they would only go to their soiree as a mission to figure out what they were really up to and he proposed that they couple up to avoid suspicion. At that moment Abby leaned against Hoagie and Wally grabbed Kuki's hand, leaving only Nigel and Robin.
"Don't look at me, dude. I'm going solo on this one." Robin put her hands up as if to say he better not even think about it. Even if they weren't related like she said it would still be weird.
"Ooh! Ooh! You should call Lizzie!" Kuki giggled.
"Who's Lizzie?" Robin asked, noticing how Nigel was starting to act a little sheepish, piquing her interest.
"Nigel's girlfriend," Hoagie answered with a snicker.
Robin's eyes lit up as she suddenly turned back to Nigel again. Why was she only just now hearing about this?
"You have a girlfriend?" She grinned, making him lean back away from her as she moved closer to him in excitement.
"Why do you act so surprised? I-It's not a big deal!
Nigel sighed and placed his hand on her shoulder to gently push Robin away so he could move past her and grab the phone. He knew the others paired up quickly on purpose so he would have no choice but to ask Lizzie. Then again it was probably best that he did. If she found out that he took someone else to the Cotillion even if it was for a mission, she'd never let him hear the end of it.
"A lot of people are going to have dates, Robin." Hoagie pointed out and asked if she was sure about going by herself. "I'm sure we could call someone up in the Kids Next Door that could go with you."
"I don't do blind dates and yes I'm sure," Robin told him. It didn't matter to her that she would be the only one without a date. If she had been around longer and knew more people maybe she would have considered it but for now, she would be happy to just steal a dance with one of them. Besides, having an actual date would only distract her from her real mission.
"Lizzie? I-It's Nigel."
They all began to smirk and snicker in his direction which earned them a glare. While Nigel was asking his girlfriend to go on a date- sorry, mission with him; Robin stopped to wonder about something she probably should have already considered by now. What the heck was she going to wear?
βββββ ββ
ββ
β βββββ
Kuki had come to the rescue with that, letting Robin borrow a light lavender top she had with her extra clothes she kept at the treehouse to go with a dark indigo skirt Robin owned that had ruffles at the bottom with an extra lining of lighter ruffles underneath to help give it a little poof. It was complete with a black vest with gold buttons that matched the black dress shoes she wore. There wasn't a whole lot she could do with her hair being short but she still slicked back the top half while having a few loose curls towards the ends. She of course kept her gold hair clips in.
As promised they had picked Lizzie up at 7:00 and she happily greeted all of them. She paused and narrowed her eyes seeing a new girl sitting near Nigel and asked who she was. There was some confusion when Kuki told Lizzie that her name was Robin and that she was now living in the same house as Nigel. Seeing that Lizzie was about to get angry, Abby jumped in and said Kuki left out the part that the two of them were related, and Robin required a new living situation so they took her in. Seeing how Robin wasn't some girl trying to steal her man, Lizzie offered her a smile and sat next to Nigel, complimenting her on her outfit.
βββββ ββ
ββ
β βββββ
"Thank you so much for the corsage, Nigie!" Lizzie admired the flower pinned to her dress as they exited the ship onto the front lawn. Nigel corrected that it was a two-way communicator which Lizzie had fun testing out.
Robin giggled at their interactions with each other and followed them all inside. The Delightful Children were there to welcome all of the guests that passed through. They smirked as Sector V and company entered the party.
"Well, well, well if it isn't Nigel Uno and his little playmates."
"Listen you snotty little punks." Nigel waved his finger accusingly toward them and grabbed the side of his sunglasses to peer over the top. "I've got my eye on you and I don't blink."
The Delightfuls simply brushed off his threatening tone and gave their best welcoming smiles.
"Relax Nigel. We only wish to have fun with our guests for whom we provided free food and entertainment."
"So?" Hoagie shrugged as it sounded good to him. "Let's party!" He followed Abby, Kuki, and Wally further down the hall while Lizzie coaxed Nigel to come along too.
"Aw come on Nigie, it'll be fun!"
He started to walk alongside her but stopped, hearing the Delightful Children call after him. "Good luck on your date, Nigie." They teased as he grumpily stormed away.
Robin tried to suppress her laughter by putting her hand to her mouth. Thankful that Lizzie had him distracted, Robin took that moment to turn her head to the five kids hosting this shindig. They wouldn't be able to discuss anything further with eyes and ears all around but when they gave her a wink, Robin knew everything was good to go and smiled back at them before turning and running after the others.
βββββ ββ
ββ
β βββββ
The Delightfuls certainly knew how to throw a party. Now that everything was fully set up, the place looked even better than it had yesterday when she came over. The red carpet leading to the ballroom was a nice touch. Nigel reminded everyone that they were on a mission and to keep their eyes open. Abby and Hoagie wasted no time in checking out the snacks being served while Wally and Kuki made their way onto the dancefloor. Robin did a quick scan of the room. There were a lot of kids here. How was she supposed to persuade all of them to have their "picture" taken without Sector V catching on while also acting like she was enjoying the party with them? The Delightfuls would need a few minutes to set up so she supposed that the last part didn't need to be an act even if just for a moment.
"Stop!"
Over at the refreshment table, Nigel quickly stopped Abby from consuming any more of the punch and quickly ran a test on the beverage. He acted like it was spiked with something but the readings showed that it was just what it looked to be. It was even his favorite; cherry flavored.
"Look Numbuh 1, I am keeping my eyes peeled." Abby crossed her arms. "But I am telling you this is just a dance! You seriously need to chill."
"Yeah, just kick back already!" Hoagie told him, taking another one of the little finger sandwiches. "Enjoy your date."
Hearing her calling for him, Nigel turned to the direction Lizzie was standing and saw her waving for him to come over. Things were never this simple when it came to those Delightful brats and he would continue to figure out what was going on but he supposed he owed his girlfriend at least one dance.
Robin took that moment to make her move. She did tell herself she would dance at some point and all she needed was a partner. Going over to the refreshment table that was being cleaned up by one of the servers since Nigel spilled most of the punch, she tapped Abby on the shoulder and bowed, offering her hand out to her when she turned in her direction.
"May I have this dance, my lady? You don't mind if I steal your date for a moment, do you Numbuh 2?" Robin looked back up at him, getting a thumbs up as an answer since his mouth was full.
"Numbuh 5 would love to dance." The other girl answered with a smile.
Abby took Robin's hand and the two of them moved to the center of the room. Lifting their hands into the air, Robin went on her tiptoe and allowed Abby to spin her with her skirt twirling around as they ended up face to face with each other again. Robin's hand rested on her shoulder while Abby had hers on Robin's waist; their other hands were still locked together. They moved around the room at a fast pace, stepping to the beat of the music being played. From the corner of her eye, Robin could see some kids came to crowd around them but paid them little mind. Placing both hands on her shoulders, Robin allowed Abby to lift her into the air as they both spun around with a laugh. Robin was placed back down and with a few more steps, the song came to an end as Abby dipped Robin into a final pose; the onlookers clapped for them.
"Not bad Lincoln," Robin smirked. "We didn't have to rehearse that or anything."
"Numbuh 5 doesn't dance often," Abby admitted. "But my brother used to let me stand on his feet when I was younger and would dance with me so I kind of just copied what I remember him doing." That seemed so long ago but was still a fond memory that they shared.
They turned to a commotion nearby and looked to see Nigel pointing one of their 2x4 technology weapons toward one of the servers who had only tried to offer him some shrimp, freaking the poor man out. Abby sighed and shook her head. So much for him chilling out.
"You might want to take that away from him before he hurts someone," Robin suggested.
Abby nodded and excused herself to go over to the table where her leader and his date were sitting. Now that she was gone, it was time for Robin to put her effort into her part of the deal.
βββββ ββ
ββ
β βββββ
She went around and tried to mingle with other kids, introducing herself and saying that she loved someone's dress or dance moves as a conversation starter to get them comfortable with talking to her before she would let it slip that she heard there was this beautiful set up where they could have their pictures taken. A lot of them took her suggestion to check it out and invited some of their other friends to come along, making her job a little easier. At one point she did notice the number of people seemed to slowly disappear but no one else did for some reason.
"Hey, Robin!" She turned her head to see Kuki and Wally walk up to the refreshment table where she had been taking a break from secretly manipulating other kids to sip on some punch.
"Oh, hey guys! Isn't this party great?" Robin smiled, noticing how Kuki had a firm grip on Wally's arm while he tried to squirm away.
"The greatest!" Kuki giggled, tightening her hold. "I was wondering if you wanted to come along with Wally and me to take photos together?"
"I already told you! I don't care about having my picture taken!"
Honestly, it wouldn't have been so bad but he heard the scenery they had to stand in front of was covered in flowers and that was too girly for his taste. Why couldn't there be options at least? Like a backdrop with a monster truck? Plus he knew Kuki would try to make them pose in a cute mushy way and he wasn't going to stand for it.
"It won't hurt you to take one photo, Numbuh 4." Robin reached her hand out and playfully ruffled his blonde hair. "I'm sure it would make Kuki happy and it would me too."
Wally grabbed her hand and shoved it away but not in a mean manner as she caught a glimpse of a smile coming from him when she did that.
"Alright, alright! I'll do it." Wally gave in much to Kuki's joy. "Let's get this over with."
"You guys go on and get a head start," Robin told them. "I'm going to find the others so we can all take a group photo together."
"Ooh, that's a great idea!" Kuki jumped up and down as she agreed. "We'll meet you guys there!"
Robin watched as they walked away together. Kuki still had her grip on him in case he changed his mind but he didn't fight it this time and even leaned a little closer to her touch. She seemed too excited about the photos to pay attention to the gesture. Before Robin could gush at the adorable sight too much, she quickly set her now empty cup down and went in search of Abby and Hoagie.
She didn't know how she was going to get Sector V to go into the photo room but Kuki made it sound like it was her idea so they shouldn't expect she was plotting anything. She found Hoagie dancing or at least trying to. He nearly tripped over his own feet but laughed it off and started moving again. His cheerful mood seemed to be contagious as Abby laughed along with him.
"You two look like you're having a good time." Robin greeted.
Hoagie asked if she was here to steal him away for a dance this time and gave her a suave smile to try and charm her but was turned down.
"Maybe after Numbuh 2. I came over to tell you guys that Numbuh 3 wanted to take some group photos with everyone. Have any of you seen Numbuh 1 around?"
"Last I saw, Lizzie dragged him out on the balcony," Abby answered. "Want me to grab them for ya?"
Robin shook her head and told her she didn't have to. "You already tried to take his weapon away so I can check up on him this time. Numbuh 3 and 4 are waiting if you guys want to head over."
Hoagie nodded and left with Abby trailing behind him. Robin waited until she saw them disappear into a room before making her leave as well. She knew Nigel wouldn't be as easy to convince. Lizzie might have been able to help with that but there was no way Nigel would just stand there and allow the Delightful Children to shoot him with their ray. She supposed seeing all of his friends turn delightfulized and helpless without his team was also an option so she left him alone for now. Before she left she did take a peek out on the balcony and they were out there like Abby said. Lizzie was leaning her head against Nigel's shoulder or at least she thought she was before she realized it was only a dummy version of him and the real Nigel was off to the side with some machine and a pair of headphones on.
"Way to kill the mood, Nigel." Robin thought, leaving before he could notice her presence. "Looks like it's my turn to become a little..delightful."
βββββ ββ
ββ
β βββββ
Robin stepped into a room where a pair of clothes were waiting for her. When she asked to borrow their look, the blonde female Delightful allowed her to have an extra sailor dress that she had for this moment. It fit better than she thought it would, seeing how Robin was a bit shorter. Fastening the buckle on the shoes, Robin got up and stood in front of a full-length mirror. She didn't bother doing anything with her hair, figuring that part didn't matter but her eyes were a different story.
All the kids that have been delightfulized appear to have icy blue eyes now. Robin's brown eyes would stick out like a sore thumb if she were to come face to face with Nigel like this but luckily they came up with a plan. Along with the dress there sat a pair of glasses that she slipped on. They seemed normal at first but by pushing a small button on the side, the lenses lit up with a hologram that focused on her eyes and made them look like a different color. Some kids had glasses appear with their delightful look so it shouldn't be questioned why she suddenly had them.
"Is it bad that I find this kind of cute?"
Robin shook her head and told herself that she didn't have time for this. Leaving the dress she came here with folded over a chair, Robin opened the door and peeked out. No one was in the hall so she saw her chance and took it. She ran out and intended to find a different way that led to the photo room where she would hide in wait for her next move. While she was walking, Robin froze when she began to hear voices and carefully looked around the corner to see the one person she had to avoid right now.
"Oh, Nigie! I love this song! Come dance with me!" Lizzie urged, pulling on his arm.
"Hang on Lizzie. I want to vacate some of the areas near the ballroom to double-check that nothing funny is going on." Nigel was opening and closing doors, heading straight towards where Robin was.
"You've been in work mode most of the night and we haven't had the chance to dance all that much. Can't you take a break? Please? For me?"
Lizzie tried to give him her best puppy dog look which seemed to work as Nigel gave in to her. Robin watched as Lizzie lit up and grabbed his hand, leading him back in the opposite direction.
"Thank you, Lizzie." Robin thought before she was on the move again.

"This is an improvement for you, Robin."
The child rolled her eyes slightly at the Delightful's comment on her appearance. Of course, they would think that.
"Don't get used to it." She told them, before asking about Sector V. "Besides Numbuh 1, were the others already taken care of?"
When she went to sneak into the room, she found that there were no kids in there besides the five up on the platform above. She wondered if they saw through the plan and ran off but then again she hadn't seen anyone who had come into this room come back out.
"Oh, yes. They are lying in wait with the others ready to serve us." The Delightfuls explained before snapping their fingers.
One of the curtains opened up to show a bunch of the kids she had talked into coming in here standing there with motionless expressions. Being the only one not among them, Robin stiffened as their eyes focused on her, feeling the need to hide.
"Relax, Robin. Now that they have been affected, they have no recollection of what is happening right now so you have nothing to worry about just yet."
Feeling her shoulders relax, Robin looked from the kids up to the Delightful Children. If it was so easy to change a person's entire structure like this, she couldn't help but wonder if it had once been the same result for them. Had they always been known as the Delightful Children From Down The Lane?
"We couldn't have done this without your help." They spoke. "We have to admit, we're kind of impressed at how many brats you were able to send our way. We believe our thanks are in order."
"I'm sure some were gullible enough to come on their own." Robin reached up to play with the scarf tied around her neck. "I only did what I had to for us to succeed. There's no reason for you to thank me."
She appreciated that they recognized her efforts but she was ready to wrap things up soon. They didn't have to wait too long as she heard Lizzie's voice again. Man, she's had to try and avoid them a lot tonight. Moving quickly, Robin disappeared into the crowd just as the curtain closed behind her.
"Okay, now wrap your arm around me and hold my hand like this." She heard Lizzie instruct.
"Oh, this is stupid." Nigel frowned and was going to ditch this whole thing if his girlfriend hadn't pulled him back to her.
"Oh, come on Nigie! It's not a date without an official picture."
He was almost going to give in and wrapped his arm around her as she had asked but when he looked up into the evil eyes of the ones hosting this party he knew it was a trap and pushed Lizzie out of the way.
"What are you doing?" The Delightful Children asked in an agitated tone as they missed the shot. "Stand still!"
"What is your problem?" Lizzie questioned, completely oblivious to what was happening.
"That is not a camera!" Nigel tried to explain but those brats beat him to it.
"A neural suggestion ray. You know your mind control devices." They smirked as he figured it out a little too late. "But we're afraid that puts you sadly in the minority."
Hearing something behind him, Nigel and Lizzie both turned to see all the other guests appear and they had all been delightfulized. How could he have let this happen? There were too many distractions going on even though he knew they had been up to something. He should have been more cautious.
"See? They all had their picture taken!" Lizzie huffed.
She still didn't get it.
"Fiends!" Nigel yelled, pointing at them. "You said you only wanted to have fun!"
"This is fun." They insisted that it was for them and with Nigel outnumbered even more fun was about to be had. "Delightfulized minions! Take them!"
"Join us!" The mindless kids all around them spoke at once as they began to move toward them.
He had to find his team or at least a way out of there until he could come up with some sort of solution to this mess. Grabbing Lizzie's hand, he ran through a door that wasn't blocked off and led them both down a hall with the kids following them, coming out of every door they had passed. Nigel opened one door to try and take a shortcut to lose them only to come face to face with his team who had been turned into minions just like everyone else. He saw Robin standing right beside them and slapped his hand to his forehead.
"Oh, great! How am I supposed to explain this to my parents?"
He had no time to worry about that right now. He had to get him and Lizzie somewhere safe even if just temporarily. The only place he could think of was a closet. It wasn't the best hiding place and since she was the only one with her mind still intact, Robin pointed everyone in the direction they should go. It helped that Lizzie wasn't being quiet making it that much easier for the kids to be led right to them. Standing from a distance, Robin watched as Kuki opened the closet door where Lizzie was trying to take Nigel's and her picture. A big flash went off and Robin's eyes widened as it was strong enough to turn his team back to normal.
"That's some flash!" Hoagie complained, rubbing his eyes and wondering where he was. Hadn't they just been getting ready to have their pictures taken in the photo room?
"Ah, crud!" Robin whispered under her breath and backed away until she reached the end of the hall where she high-tailed it out of there before they could notice her and her odd behavior. She had to change back and fast.
Lucky for her, Nigel had his attention on installing Lizzie's camera to his weapon to make the flash even more powerful. He should have guessed that one would neutralize the other.
"Alright! It's time to get this party really started!" He began as he aimed his handheld ray toward a group of kids. "So.. Let's dance.."

Nigel went all around and took pictures of every kid that they had come across. His teammates helped by letting him know if he missed someone and even held a kid or two in place if they had to, to speed things up. After a good while they all ended up in one room together with everyone seeming to be back to normal. Nigel did a double-take around the room to make sure they were all here and narrowed his eyes slightly as he saw Robin make her way toward the front of the crowd, rubbing her head. He didn't recall seeing her turn back but everything had happened so fast. He hadn't paid attention to every single group of kids he had taken a shot of. Just as long as he knew they weren't delightful anymore. He guessed that she had been among them somewhere and was too focused on his mission to notice her till now.
Damn, those glasses gave her a headache. They were great for her disguise but not so much for her eyes. She had to blink a few times to try and focus again but at least it made her look confused like everyone else. She was about to ask Wally if he remembered anything only for her eyes to widen and snap her head in Nigel's direction when she heard him explode in rage.
"IT IS NOT A DATE!!" His anger was directed at Lizzie and he continued to go off on her. "It was never a date and even if it were a date, I don't care! I have more important things to worry about than someone who's..who's..DATE CRAZY!"
He stormed out of the room leaving everyone in an award silence beside the sniffles that came from Lizzie. The rest of Sector V made everyone back off knowing she needed space right now.
That was harsh. Robin understood why Nigel was so upset. Lizzie had been getting in the way all night and certainly wasn't the brightest but Robin couldn't help feeling bad for her. He could have at least waited until they were alone so he didn't humiliate her in front of all these people. It probably wouldn't help anything but Robin walked up to Lizzie and tapped her on the shoulder, offering her a cup of punch when she glanced up at her. Lizzie wiped her tears and smiled small at the kind gesture.
"You okay?" Robin carefully asked, knowing it was silly to ask.
Lizzie gave a slight nod as she looked down at her reflection shining in the punch. Instead of drinking it, she pursed her lips together before straightening up and stomping in the direction Nigel had gone; holding her dress up with one hand so she wouldn't trip.
"Robin, what happened?" She heard Abby ask and her gaze was torn away to see her and the others standing there. "I thought you were going to get Nigel for the group photo but he said he never saw you and you had been turned delightful as well."
"I lost sight of him after Lizzie dragged him somewhere else." Robin quickly came up with a lie, hoping they would buy it. "I went to find you guys to help me look but when I went to the photo room you weren't there and after that, everything has been a blur up until now."
"Those punks must have got you when you went to check up on us," Wally grumbled, referring to the Delightful Children. Even if the result would have ended the same he still said that he would get back at them for zapping her when she least expected it. They were used to the Delightful Children pulling stunts like this and should have believed Nigel. Robin was new to all the chaos they went through and he hated knowing that they took advantage of his friend.
Robin started to tell him that it wasn't necessary when the sound of an explosion got their attention and they turned to see the Delightfuls running through in a panic as they headed for the front door. Nigel and Lizzie followed after them in a hurry, yelling for everyone to run. The sound of another explosion boomed through the mansion and you didn't have to tell them twice. Everyone rushed towards the exit all at once and while it was a bit hectic, they all ended up on the hilltop outside at a safe distance. Parts of the mansion shot up into the air and were turned into fireworks that nearly everyone "oohed and awed" at.
Robin was one of the few that wasn't smiling. Her head was tilted up to watch the fireworks but she couldn't focus on them. The mission had failed. Of course, it wouldn't have been that simple. It never was. All she wanted was to see her dad again but it looked like she was going to be sticking around for a while longer. Her gaze lowered and she looked at the Delightfuls. They were the only ones who knew how she was truly feeling right now but they couldn't give her comfort. More like they wouldn't as they turned their heads away from her.
"Don't you just love fireworks?"
The Delightfuls' attention was turned to some boy standing near them as they glared at him. Parts of their mansion were being destroyed and Father would be furious at them once he came home so, no. They didn't love fireworks.
Robin sighed and looked back towards Sector V only to see Nigel had already been watching her as he held hands with Lizzie and her eyes widened as they locked eyes with each other. Robin wasn't sure what her expression was reading right now but she knew it wasn't good. Before anything else could happen, she felt someone grab her hand and glanced beside her to see Kuki before she was pulled closer to the group.
"Hey, Lizzie! Do you still have any more film left?"
"Most of it had been used up," Lizzie said, checking where her camera was set at. "But there should be enough for one more picture." She smiled knowing where Kuki was going with this.
Just like they had originally planned, they all came closer together for a group shot. Nigel's focus was still on Robin as she stood beside him now. Something was wrong and the feeling he got about Robin when she first stepped into his home came creeping back up. Why had she been looking at the Delightful Children like that? Her expression was almost unreadable but he could have sworn there was pleading in her eyes almost as if she was asking for help and then slight fear when she turned to him instead. He had no idea what was going on but he was going to get to the bottom of this and-
"Nigel! Pay attention!"
He jumped as Lizzie yelled in his ear. Sighing, Nigel put on a fake smile for the camera knowing that the girl next to him was doing the same. There was nothing more he could do tonight but he was going to have someone up in the Global Command do some digging on her. He had to know if she was really who she said she was or if there was something bigger going on that he didn't have the answers to just yet. This was far from over.
Flash!

Robin's fingers traced over the edges of the picture as she sat on the windowsill of her room. They had let her keep it and soon after the fireworks ended they all decided it was time to head home and call it a night. After dropping Lizzie off, they returned to the treehouse where Robin excused herself and said that she was going to bed. She hated to admit it but part of her did have a good time with them tonight. She just got caught up in the act she told herself. She couldn't let herself get attached to them. Moving the photo, it was shown that she had two of them and the one she had in front of her now was different. It was a picture of her parents holding her when she was still a toddler. She missed them both so much.
"Don't worry Dad." She sighed as she turned to look up at the stars, knowing he was out there somewhere. "I promise I'll get us home soon.."

SunnieβοΈ: I haven't done anything with her in a long time, but I suddenly feel inspired to try and work on my old Ed, Edd 'n Eddy oc. Not sure if I'm keeping the same design, but I think I'm going to find a different name for her.

SunnieβοΈ: Here is Scar with her hair down and a sneak peak at more about her background. Might be obvious with her claws and little toother sticking out but her real story will be revealed at a later date. I'm aware that her earrings are a bit large. I think an actual character in the show had big pearl earrings so I tried it out but now I wish they were smaller. Oh, well. She's still pretty even with her hair a little messy.

A new girl claiming to be family shows up on the Unoβs doorstep but not everything is as it seems as she trains to be an operative. Meanwhile, an adult with a connection to this child becomes involved in the DCFDTLβs lives as trouble ensues.
Chapter 3: New Nanny Down The Lane
Their first impression of her was that she wasn't going to last long. It hadn't been the first time Father had tried hiring a nanny to watch over them but for whatever reason, they couldn't explain all the previous ones had quit and never returned to their mansion again. The five of them couldn't understand it. They were good kids, weren't they?
Along with her new job at the Villain cafe, Father proposed that Scar worked for him and his darling children after listening to her explain the reason why Robin and her moved to this town. He was very intrigued and thought they could work together. She would serve coffee while they were in school and attend meetings with the other villains then after she would tend to things in the Delightful Mansion along with their butler, Jenkins. Being a nanny wasn't something Scar saw herself doing. She didn't necessarily despise kids. She's watched over Robin plenty of times and the two of them had a good relationship despite the age difference but around other kids, she didn't know Scar felt awkward around them and usually avoided them if she could. That went for some adults too but she's practiced hiding her anxiety pretty well at this point.
"So this here is the kitchen and the back door leads to the garden along the side of the house. You're welcome to visit it if you like but only after your other work is finished." Father invited Scar over to show her around the mansion a bit and to meet his Delightful Children now that she was going to be hanging around. Hey, the amount he offered was too good to turn down. Mama needed to continue making a living somehow.
"I think I understand where everything is." Scar nodded as they came to the end of the tour, heading back into the living room. When they were finished with everything Father was going to have his driver escort her back to her apartment. "So when will I get to meet-"
Just as she began asking about his children, they heard a chorus of voices telling Father they were home, and in stepped the Delightfuls themselves. Almost immediately Scar locked eyes with them as they froze in the doorway feeling as if they were interrupting something. They didn't know Father was having company over today. Not many people were even allowed over unless they were using someone to help hatch one of their schemes or when they captured other children and forced them to come to their birthday party. This reminded them; they had to plan something better for their next birthday soon. The Big Badolescent had been a total bust. They never should have hired that girl.
"My Delightful Children you should know better than to stare. It's impolite." Father's voice brought them back and they immediately apologized before he could get angry with them.
"We're pleased to meet you, adult person." They bowed.
"It's alright, Father. I am a stranger in their home after all." Scar assured him that it was no biggie and went to approach them. "Father has told me about you five. Hope you don't mind but we were discussing about me becoming your new nanny.."
Seeing the confused and doubtful expressions his children were giving her, Father sighed and ordered them to sit down on the couch. Even he knew that it was a bit odd of him to suddenly try and hire someone again after it's been months since the last nanny quit. He honestly got tired of the same outcomes but if this woman could help them destroy the Kids Next Door it didn't matter if she left in the end or not. Though with an attractive face like that, he kinda hoped she would still be in the area at least.
"Scarlett here is working together with a child who has infiltrated Nigel Uno's home pretending to be a long-lost relative." Father gave a quick explanation as the Delightfuls now perked up in interest. They wondered how well their act must have been to convince the Unos'. Either they were good or Monty and Jen were bigger morons than they thought.
"Robin informed me that tomorrow she is going to Gallagher to be registered. As soon as you can get her alone I'll need you to give her this" Scar told them as she gave them a USB drive and then pulled out a photo of the girl they were to look out for. It was of Robin wearing an apron with some flour on her face; smiling at someone off-camera. Shouldn't be too hard to find her if she's the only new face in the whole school but getting her alone without suspicion would be a little tricky.
"Not that I doubt your kid but- yeah no I doubt your kid." Father began as he sat in his chair with one leg over the other and his arms crossed. He didn't have much trust in kids and if she was constantly around Sector V they could fill her mind with nonsense and distract her from the real mission. "Even if she's set on getting revenge for what they did to her, how can we be sure that she'll follow through? I don't want to rely on any promises that aren't guaranteed to be kept."
"Then that would be her choice." Scar sighed. "But given what's at stake here I strongly feel that Robin will do all that she can. It's kind of hard to back out now and if word gets out about what we did she could be taken away to an actual foster home. Not until her father is freed from that prison anyways."
Somewhere in the coldest part of Antarctica was a maximum prison that held some of the worst adult villains and among them was Robin's father. He was laying low for now but there would be consequences for making him wait too long. Scarlett just wanted Robin to be safe in all of this. She thought of her as her little niece and wasn't going to let anything bad happen to her.
"If we may suggest something."
Both Scarlett and Father turned to the Delightfuls who were already plotting something. This could be an opportunity to test Robin for her loyalty and to have a little fun.
"Our delightfulization ray is now fully operational and we have a plan to turn those snotty brats into perfect children like ourselves. We can inform Robin when we meet with her and see if she is willing to give Sector V the bait."
"What all needs to be done for this to work?" Scarlett questioned, twisting one of her pearl bracelets around her wrist, watching as each of them began to smirk.
"Well, to start we'll need to have some invitations prepared.."
βββββ ββ
ββ
β βββββ
"Your friend Scarlett said you can upload everything you record of Sector V onto this." The Delightfuls spoke in unison as they gave Robin the drive.
Robin and the Delightfuls had moved into a secluded classroom so they could discuss matters in private. They made a deal with the hall monitors to keep Robin ending up in detention from the principal and Uno's parents on the down low for now. She can still start with a clean slate! Woo! Wonder how long that would last?
"She prefers Scar, but thanks!" Robin pocketed the drive and turned to look at them. She knew Scar was going to locate other villains in this town but she didn't expect other kids to want to take down Sector V as well. Most of them were in the organization or were simply living innocent lives like kids should. Robin didn't fit in either of those categories ever since that day they ruined her life but she'd get everything back on track.
"We'll cut to the chase, Robin." The Delightfuls began. "We already informed Scar of the plan but we would like your help too if you're interested."
"What do I have to do?" Robin jumped right into it. If they could finally move forward with something she'd be willing to hear what they had to say.
"This coming weekend we are planning on hosting the Kid's All-Town Cotillion and of course, Nigel and his friends will be invited."
"A cotillion? I finally get to go to a cotillion?" Robin's eyes lit up as she considered the fun that could be had during this event before frowning. "Wait, I am invited, right? Is there going to be some sort of theme? Where is it being held?"
"You really should keep your focus Robin."
"Right! Right! Sorry!" Robin apologized realizing she was probably getting too excited over something that would most likely be used for a trap. "Continue."
"I suppose we could answer your questions though." They told her in the order she had asked. "Of course, you're invited. It might raise questions if you weren't and being new to town isn't an excuse cause almost every kid should be there."
Robin nodded, knowing they were right. She just felt the need to make sure since her dad wouldn't let her go to the last cotillion being held near her hometown; having to spend most of the evening helping him test out a new invention. She fought the urge to shudder from the memories.
"There isn't a theme in mind exactly. It's mainly just a formal event you can dress up for." Robin looked at them again as they explained it would be held at their mansion. "We do have the room for it after all so no need to rent any place out."
"Uh-huh.. So am I supposed to just make sure Sector V comes to this event?"
"Precisely." They nodded."We will be mailing out invitations but we'd like you to hand deliver their invitation yourself just to make sure they receive it and convince them to attend which we doubt will be hard. Nigel will be suspicious of course but he'll be dealt with soon enough."
"I've only known Nigel for a day and he isn't exactly trusting of me yet." Robin rubbed her arm slightly. "Wouldn't surprise me if he tried bugging my room." After saying it out loud Robin realized there was a high possibility that he would do something like that. "Well, I know what I'm doing once I get out of here.."
"Once the party does start they'll be allowed to enjoy themselves for a little while but after we open up the photo room that's when the real fun will begin." The five of them grinned evilly and Robin raised a brow at them.
"Photos?"
"It'll be better to show you how it works in person but let's just say our "camera" isn't really a camera." They held a hand to the side of their mouths as if to prevent anyone else from hearing even though it was just the six of them in the room and leaned a little closer to her.
Robin nodded, making notes to stay clear of whatever machine they had ready for the other guests. "Thanks for the heads up." Looking up towards the clock that was on the wall, Robin's eyes widened seeing how long she had been gone.
"They're probably wondering why I'm not back yet. I hate to cut this short but-"
"It's alright." They assured her that they still had plenty of time to prepare and to meet them at their mansion this Friday to go over some last-minute details.
"Got it! It was great meeting you five!" Robin grabbed the hand of the blonde boy in the front and shook it before turning and heading towards the door. "Oh!" She turned her body around when she was near the exit. "Tell Scar I said hi, would ya? She's cool once you get to know her so hope you'll give her a chance!" Since she was walking backward, Robin bumped into the doorframe with a hiss but regained her composure and smiled at the Delightfuls as she disappeared into the hall.
"Likewise, Robin." They said it was nice to have officially met her as well. "We'll be sure to deliver the message."

"And you're sure you didn't see the Delightful Children?" Nigel asked one more time, not hiding his suspension at all.
It was after school now and Sector V had been freed from detention. They returned to the treehouse and found Robin sitting in their television room watching some cartoons and munching on a bag of chips.
"I don't know who you're talking about dude." Robin paused to take a bite of another chip, crushing it against the roof of her mouth to get more of the bbq flavor in the process. "I went straight back to the principal's office and Monty and Jen brought me back here where I raided your snacks and turned on your tv. Which is awesome by the way."
It sounded as simple as that but she did check her room for any strange device that didn't belong to her. Nothing so far but she still had to be cautious when contacting Scar and those who she worked with now. Even if it was business related to taking down a common enemy, a part of Robin wasn't sure how she felt about Scar spending so much time with other children. She was the only adult in her life still right now and she wanted to keep it that way even if they had to stay separated for the time being.
"Ah, let it go Numbuh 1," Hoagie said, sitting next to Robin on the couch and reaching for her bag of chips which was brought closer for him to grab a few. "If Robin says she didn't see those Delightful Dorks, I believe her."
Robin smiled, glad that he trusted her even if Nigel was right and it had been a lie. She was even more glad that he brought her Flying Yipper cards back to her in one piece. She did notice one was missing and called him out for it but with a nervous laugh, Hoagie pulled it out of his pocket and handed it back to her. He knew better than to take a fellow Yipper fan's stuff but couldn't blame him for trying. It had been a rare card after all.
"Hey Robin, you play any games?" She heard Wally ask and turned to see him pulling out some controllers.
"I've spent a lot of time at a local arcade before I moved here so I think I can handle whatever you throw at me," Robin smirked, accepting his challenge.
"Not going to be much of a challenge if you're the one competing against her." Numbuh 5 chuckled lightly as she and Numbuh 3 came and sat down with more snacks for everyone.
Wally loudly exclaimed that he was really good and would kick Robin's butt in some fighting game that he was setting up. He sat on the couch to her left with Kuki while Nigel and Abby sat on the one to the right. As the game started up the others cheered the two of them on as they waited to see who would win the first round. Wally almost had her pinned but by breaking free, Robin's character took advantage of Wally's health, and with a quick punch he was knocked out and she was pronounced the winner.
"Told you," Abby said, which made her shorter friend grumble.
Robin turned to look at Wally and decided he needed a little encouragement.
"It was just the first round. I'm sure you can totally crush me in the next one. I mean Crushzilla wouldn't give up, would he?"
With a newly determined smirk, Wally spoke, "You bet he wouldn't!" And pressed start once again. He was good at video games when he put his focus into them but his friend's teasing when he did lose served as a distraction and pretty soon his controller would be thrown across the room. Robin's words had the opposite effect and before they knew it, she was the one knocked to the ground with the words 'Game Over' written above.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Wally jumped up on the couch, doing a little dance to celebrate his victory.
Robin only chuckled before handing the controller over to Hoagie for a turn so she could open up a soda. After a few more rounds, Kuki finally brought up what happened earlier.
"It was super duper nice of you to help us Robin when you didn't have to. Thanks!"
"It was nothing." Robin tried to wave Kuki off. She mainly only did it to earn their trust but the idea of no recess didn't sit right with her either so she supposed she didn't mind giving them a hand this once.
"Have you considered joining the Kids Next Door?"
Her question caught them all off guard. Kuki had a turn with the game now and with Hoagie's focus on something else, it was a rather easy win for her. "Yay! I won!" She yelled, throwing her hands up in the air.
Robin could feel all eyes on her now and she wished they weren't. Where did that come from? I mean she knew where but that didn't mean she had an answer.
"If we're being honest, I was thinking about it too." Numbuh 2 confessed, setting his controller down so they could discuss this. "It would make sense, right? You'll be hanging around here anyways so why not become an operative like us?"
"I uh..haven't thought about it," Robin told them honestly. This wasn't part of the plan, right? Then again she should have known better than to assume it wouldn't be brought up at some point. All she had to do was infiltrate their headquarters and find out all their secrets that would lead to their doom while also figuring out a way to rob the Unos' of enough money to cover the damages to their family's bakery that were caused by the kids sitting around her. She didn't want to think about how it had been brought up in flames right now.
"You seem nervous."
Turning her head, Robin could see Nigel eyeing her suspiciously; his sunglasses lowered down enough to show his blue eyes.
"Any particular reason for that?" He asked, leaning back into the couch and folding his arms.
"I'm just..I'm just not sure I'm cut out for it, you know? I mean you guys make it look so easy. I wouldn't want to slow you down.." She traced her finger around the edge of her soda and averted their gazes.
"Are you kidding?" Abby questioned, setting her magazine down that she had been reading while the rest of them were fighting over getting the higher score. "Look we might not know where your skills lay but that's what training is for. Plus the way you showed your bravery to that adult today Numbuh 5 thinks you are more than suited to become a cadet."
"You'll get to go to the Arctic Base and go through all sorts of simulations! It's so cool!" Wally grabbed onto the sleeve of her black sweater and told her she had to join. Having another kid to fight adult tyrants with sounded good to him.
Robin knew she was being put on the spot but when she thought about it she supposed it didn't matter if she gave in and accepted their offer just to please them. If this plan that the Delightful Children had to be rid of the Sector worked, she could just collect what she needed to and be on her way. She'd play along for now.
"The Arctic, huh? So how do I sign up?"

"This place is gigantic!"
Robin had gone to the Delightful Children From Down The Lane's mansion that Friday as planned; taking advantage of the others being in school to come here. The butler had been the one to answer the door and let her in. She knew this place was big but it was still impressive. She spun on her heel to look around the room but in doing so, she lost her balance and fell on her back on the marble floor.
"Ow.."
Hearing footsteps, Robin tilted her head backward to see the Delightfuls staring down at her.
"Hehe. Hey, there." She laughed lightly to ease her embarrassment and got up. "Thanks for inviting me over. Love the place you got here!"
"You are welcome Robin and thank you as well." They wondered just how clumsy this girl was. First, running into the door frame, and now this.
"So what's first? Can I see that "camera" of yours now? Oh, what about the invitation? Is that ready? And what about-?" Scar!"
The girl ran past them and to the woman who appeared from another room. Scar had someone cover her shift at the cafe this morning so she could spend the day helping with the preparations for tomorrow night. Her wavy red hair had been pulled up out of the way in a high ponytail. She smiled seeing the child and let Robin throw her arms around her, patting her head.
"I brought the drive like you asked," Robin said, pulling it out and handing it to the woman. "It's not much yet but there's a pretty good layout of the treehouse and I have files started on each operative.
Robin would gather all she could onto the drive and then give it to them to upload the information onto their computer before Robin did the process all over again if need be.
"Good job, Kiddo." Scar smiled and turned to the Delightfuls who walked up to them. "Why don't you children take Robin and go over things with her while I take care of this?"
Ruffling Robin's hair one more time, Scar left the six of them to their own devices so she could collect the information on Sector V's treehouse.
"Told you she was cool." Robin gave a little smirk and pointed her thumb in the direction Scar had gone.
"Yes, we suppose she is but onto more important matters." The five children began. "You want to see how our ray will operate, don't you?"
With a quick nod, the Delightful Children had Robin follow them through their mansion. She noticed that other servants had been hired for this party as they all worked to set everything up. One guy was on a ladder cleaning one of the windows when another servant walking by tripped over the tablecloth he was carrying, knocking over the ladder in the process and leaving the guy holding on to the ledge and kicking his feet against the wall to try and pull himself up.
"Help! Help! This is why I don't do anything with heights!"
"It's not a long drop dude! You'd be totally fine!" Even if Robin was right that the guy was being a little overdramatic, she still went over and picked up the ladder so he could get down. He thanked her but then quickly dusted himself off and straightened his posture once he saw the Delightful Children.
"Pardon us Sir but may we have a moment of your time?"
"Why yes, of course! What can I do for you?"
They told him to follow them and they ended up in a room with a giant machine pointed at a beautiful background covered in red roses. Robin wasn't sure why he was brought in here with them but stood out of the way as told as the Delightful Children said they wanted to test out their camera and asked if they could take his picture. The servant was more than happy to ably and asked how he looked.
"Delightful." The five grouped children smirked as they pushed a button that zapped him and changed his appearance.
His side-swept hair stayed the same but his eyes turned an icy blue and his clothes looked similar to the Delightful Boys. He continued to stand there with a blank expression on his face. Now Robin knew why he was asked to come in here with them.
"As you can see Robin, our ray is a mind control device that will turn anyone into a delightful minion similar to ourselves. If you can lure some of our guests into this room and save us the trouble we'd appreciate it."
Robin turned and glanced up at the platform they were standing on. A thought crossed her mind as she looked at the other two girls' uniforms.
"I get the feeling you don't get asked for fashion tips often but any chance I can borrow your look? It's not my style but to blend in with your other minions I think I will need to play the part of being delightful as well. Any advice you'd like to give me to convince them?"
The Delightfuls looked at each other and then back down at the girl. Even if it was only part of the plan, she was right about no one taking an interest in what they wore or the way they behaved. They could just zap her in the end once they no longer required her services and turn her delightful for real but they would be lying to themselves if they weren't curious to see how she would pull it off.
"Delightful servant!" They called out to the man still standing in the same spot who lifted his dull gaze in their direction. "Have someone prepare us a pot of tea. Our new friend Robin and I have much to discuss.."

Numbuh 423: Hey there! You must be the new cadet we've heard about from Sector QT! I'm Numbuh 423 aka Soleil! This is my sector, Sector OMG!
Numbuh 424: Sup, newbie! Wanna blow some stuff up?
Numbuh 423: Uh, she's just kidding! Hopefully.
Numbuh 425: Hey there. Nice to meet ya, kiddo.
Numbuh 426: Hello. If you have any questions about the KND, don't be afraid to ask us. Or rather me. I know some things or two about everyone and everything.
Numbuh 427: H-Hi! Welcome to the Kids Next Door! Hope you like it so far even if it can be a bit chaotic.
Numbuh 423: I'm sure we'll all be great friends! Who knows, maybe we can all go on missions together once you graduate!
Robinπβ¨οΈ: QT? OMG? These are the best Sector names by far! π Things have kind of mellowed out for the time being but the chaos is bound to start up again real soon. Especially if we were to blow stuff up. *Robin smirked in interest.* But anyway, thank you, and I'll look forward to any possible future missions together.

Robin frowned as she listened to the messages that overlapped with each other.
Robinπβ¨οΈ: Uh, there is definitely something going on with the signal but if you all can hear me, thank you for the warm welcome. ^ ^ Not entirely sure what happened, but to answer Aliya, I'd be down to be friends with you guys and Plantazia, which is a really cool name, by the way!

{IloveHotcocoa190 starts typing}
Heyya its numbuh 190 here! So I have a random question..
Sorry if this is pretty much a Awkward question...
If you encounter A teen ninjas what would you guys do anyways?
{Chat ended}
Robin:πβ¨οΈ: It's not awkward at all. As much as I would love to jump right into the action, most times, you gotta go with a more stealthy approach if you want to get the dirt on whatever it is they might be planning. If they were just doing ordinary teenage stuff, I'd just walk away, but if I overheard them planning something, the first thing would be to report the information back to global command. Knowing me, however, there is a good chance that I would try to see if there was anything I could do to ruin their plans right then and there which might not always be the best course of action. I've been told that I don't always think before getting right to it, but whether I wait for backup or handle things on my own, I'd still be kicking some teen ninja butt. π

A new girl claiming to be family shows up on the Uno's doorstep but not everything is as it seems as she trains to be an operative. Meanwhile, an adult with a connection to this child becomes involved in the DCFDTL's lives as trouble ensues.
Chapter 2: Construction Destruction
"I'm telling you, no one would read a comic if Numbuh 2 Guy was the name of the hero." Numbuh 4 told his friend as they got into a little disagreement over names if they were superheroes like in the comics they read. It just felt so generic and bland compared to his awesome name.
"Oh? And Crushzilla is all you can come up with?" Numbuh 2 argued back saying that combining being able to crush things and the name of an oversized dinosaur wasn't that much better.
"Shows what you know! I'll bet Robin thinks I have the cooler name! Don't I, Robin?"
Robin peered over her shoulder to give her attention to the two boys walking behind her. Instead of getting ice cream like Numbuh 5 suggested they hit up the candy store which everyone was all for. Robin twisted the plastic bag of her gummy bears closed to save the rest for later before slowing her pace till Numbuh 2 and Numbuh 4 caught up with her; walking on either side of her.
"I personally like them both. If they are the names you came up with then they must be unique to you in some way so I see nothing wrong with them." She spoke. "I was never good at coming up with superhero names myself. I would have kept it simple and used my name but that's kinda taken." She let out a light chuckle as she felt Numbuh 2 slide his arm around her shoulders.
"If you're Robin then all you need is someone to be your Batman. I'd be more than happy to fill in that position." He smirked. The real version might have been a male but Numbuh 2 thought the female heroes were just as good and should be issued more. "Do you read comics?"
"I've read some. I was able to get my hands on a newer Flyer Yipper comic that came out a few months back but I haven't been able to read the more recent ones. You wouldn't happen to know where I could get them, do you?"
Numbuh 2 was thrilled to hear that this girl read the same issue he did. He was more than happy to let her borrow his copies. "Please tell me you collect the Yipper cards too."
"Depends. Got any good ones worth trading?" She smirked.
This girl was officially awesome. Numbuh 5 chuckled as she and the others walked ahead of them.
"Well, so far we learned she's a bit of a nerd " She joked to Nigel who chewed on his chocolate bar.
Being a fan of Yipper was only one thing out of all the things he still had to learn about her. Listening to Robin chatting away with his teammates, Nigel could tell that they liked her already. It didn't take a whole lot to impress these guys. He recalled not long ago how they befriended Lasso Lass and she was an adult.
Kuki had been asking Robin if she wanted to see her room once they returned to the treehouse when Nigel's watch started beeping, alerting all their attention to him.
"Numbuh 1 reporting in. What's the issue?" He questioned, talking to someone on his video watch who alerted them that there was trouble with Mr. Wink and Mr. Fibb again down by the basketball court in the park.
Robin tried leaning over him a tad to see who was on the screen, but the call cut out after Nigel said that they would be right there. "You're going on a mission, aren't you?"
"Yeah! Finally some more action!" Numbuh 4 pounded his fist into his hand in excitement. After being forced to sit still in school for eleventy billion hours, he was itching to kick some adult butt.
Having to return to the treehouse so they could properly gear up, Nigel told his team to activate their J.E.T.A.B.O.O.T.S so they could move faster. Seeing how Robin was the only one without a pair, he held his hand out to her and told her she better hold on. She looked at his outstretched hand for a moment before smiling and grabbing on. This would be so much better than walking.
The small flight they took through the neighborhood as they passed different houses gave Robin a thrill but she was sure getting to see the treehouse up close and personal made her heart race even more. It looked a lot different from inside than when she first peered up at it from down below. It was kinda cool that the tree was a part of the house at the bottom too. She was busy checking out everything in the Vehicle Room as the others readied their weapons and turned as they all lined up to board one of their ships.
"I don't suppose I could tag along?"
"Well, of course, you can!" Kuki was quick to agree but Nigel held his hand out.
"No. This is Kids Next Door business only. Any kid not entitled to take on this mission should stay clear of the area. We shouldn't be gone too long."
Seeing Robin huffing, Numbuh 2 promised they would tell her all about it and would give her a proper tour of the treehouse when they got back. If she was going to be living in the Uno household, they'd love for her to be able to hang out with them too.
"Keep your word about those comics and you got it." She snapped her finger at him with a smirk before they boarded their S.C.A.M.P.E.R and took flight. Robin watched as they disappeared into the distance, turning on her heel and heading to the elevator. She wanted to explore all that she could of the treehouse but she supposed she could be patient for now. Besides, this would be a good time to message a friend of hers.

All eyes were on her when she walked in. They would get random civilians trying to enter their coffee shop sometimes even though it was for villains only but something about the way this woman analyzed her surroundings before seating herself on a stool said that she knew what she was getting into by coming here.
"I'd like to fill out an application." She nodded to a worker who held up a pot of coffee, silently asking if she wanted some while she filled it out. Running her fingers through her long red hair, she looked at her reflection in a metal napkin holder making a note to reapply her lipstick afterward when she caught a glimpse of a few villains staring. Spinning around in the stool so she was facing them, the woman crossed one leg over the other before addressing a man who let out a puff from his cigar.
"Mr. Boss. Head CEO and winner of last year's Villain Choice Awards. Am I correct?"
So it seemed that this woman wasn't your average civilian after all.
"Who's asking?" He questioned as he leaned to the side a bit in the booth so another man. with large dental gear would have room to floss his teeth. What was there to floss though? All he had was one cup of coffee.
"Scarlett Weber is my full title." She answered, giving another look around the room. It wasn't a full house today but if she got the job she'd come across more villains. Maybe she could get them to give her more information on the Kids Next Door. "But Scar is my preferred name."
"You're not from around here, are you missy?" An elderly woman who had a cat-like appearance eyed the girl as she pet a white feline who slept soundly in her lap.
"Maybe not but I'm familiar with adults like yourselves and how you battle against children. Not usually on the front lines when dealing with them but I've played my part too."
Turning her head, she thanked the employee who brought her coffee and added one thing of creamer before holding up the paper to observe. Who would she be able to put down as a reference? Patricia Foster perhaps? A small smirk crossed her lips as she thought about how well she was able to trick those folks with just a wig and lousy pantsuit. Nothing against them but she much preferred her style of clothing. She turned back around so she could focus on the papers in front of her; not paying any attention to those around her or the sound of someone new stepping into the shop.
"Hey Mr. Boss, how are the kids doing?" She heard someone ask.
"They still have their bratty moments, but what can ya do?" Mr. Boss shrugged his shoulders. They may have been on opposite sides but they were still his kids so he'd put up with their antics at home as long as he could be rid of any other annoying brats. "Fanny has been begging me for one of those Rainbow Monkey CDs. Kids seem to think I'm made of money with all the crud they ask for."
The others murmured in agreement that kids usually did want the most ridiculous things.
"Hey, who's she?"
The man finally took notice of the new woman sitting close by. Even when facing the other way she was quite a looker.
"Someone new in town I guess," Knightbrace answered as he finished his flossing and put his stuff away. "Her name is Scarlett and she's had run-ins with operatives or has worked with someone who has. That's what I gathered."
Nodding, the man left the other adults to make himself comfortable in a seat next to the redhead. She barely gave him a side glance as he placed an order and nibbled on the end of his pipe for a moment before setting it down in front of him.
"So a villain like yourself is getting a job serving coffee for other villains? What's the story with that?" He asked, folding his arms on the long island table in front of them. "Assuming you're like us adults if you're aware of the bratty organization."
Lifting her head, Scar saw a man in a black silhouette cloak that covered his entire body and a pipe in the corner of his mouth. Somehow it still managed to show his facial expressions. She knew him to be Father. A very well-known villain in this town that she read an article on.
"Got to pay the rent somehow. My current boss is.. sort of away at the moment." She was able to make do with her last paycheck and what she had in her savings so far but it wasn't going to last much longer so she had to do what she could while staying in this town.
She had finished filling out the form and tossed the pen in front of her, taking a sip of her coffee. She might as well get a taste of their brand if she's going to be serving it. She had only taken her second sip when she felt the vibration from her communicator go off. Pulling it out, she flipped it open seeing she had a message.
[Today went well. I seem to be earning their trust and will find out all that I can soon. Let me know how your end goes. Oh, Mrs. Uno said we can make pizza bagels tonight! - Robin]
Giving a playful eye roll, Scar replied that she was doing well and for the child to stay safe while she was there. Robin might not have been her kid but she was still in charge of her while they issued out their plans.
"Not to intrude but is the Uno you're talking about related to a young Nigel Uno?"
Raising her brow, Scarlett turned her full attention to Father.
"You know him?"
"Know him? He's got to be the worst out of all the brats! I thought my children could take care of their leader for good but of course as always; they failed." He sighed and shook his head before adding his creamer.
"I'm sure they were doing their best but back to Nigel. Anything you can tell me about him?" Even if Robin was the one going undercover she had to do her part too. These villains had experience with these kids so the more they learned the better.
"Why don't you tell me the real story of why you're here and maybe I'll consider helping you out." Father was intrigued by this woman and if she and whoever this Robin was had bad intentions for the bald Brit, maybe they would be useful in taking down the rest of the Kids Next Door.

Sector V did not disappoint with the tour and neither did those pizza bagels. Being gone only an hour, Nigel and his friends had time to show her a good portion of the treehouse before having dinner together down in the house. It felt..kind of nice. She usually didn't have family dinners with friends like this. It had mainly just been her and her dad..
She wasn't here to stay. This would all be short-lived when things went back to the way they used to be. Just like how she would be a student at Gallagher Elementary for less than a semester if things played out right.
Robin sat in the principal's office the next day with Monty and Jen. They were helping to get her registered and said she should be able to start classes at the beginning of next week. While the adults were talking, Robin leaned back in her chair and played with strands of her hair, trying to see if a piece was long enough to go under her nose like a mustache but not quite so due to being chin length. She was leaning back far enough to see out in the hallway from her angle and noticed a few familiar faces trying to sneak by.
"May I use the bathroom?" She suddenly asked, sitting back up straight as three pairs of eyes turned to her. "Please?"
Nodding, the principal told her it was just down the hall to her left before continuing his conversation with the Uno Folks. Perfect. That's exactly the direction a certain Sector had gone.
Five pairs of heads peered around the corners. Numbuh 2, 3, and 4 on one side and Numbuh 1 and 5 on the other. Looking to see if anyone else was out in the halls during class like they were.
"It looks like the coast is clear for now but stay alert for any hall monitors that might be patrolling." Numbuh 1 told them as he began giving out orders. "Their construction will be starting any time now so Numbuh 3 and Numbuh 4 you distract and take care of the workers on the ground level while Numbuh 2 and Numbuh 5 take over their machines and disable them. Robin and I will find the one in charge and-"
"Robin?" He claimed in surprise now noticing how she was right next to him, observing the halls too.
"Heyo!" She saluted with two fingers and smiled at the team.
"What are you doing here?" Hoagie asked, knowing they had said bye to her this morning before heading out. Originally they had planned to skip school but then they received important information about some construction workers here that they had to put a stop to.
"Working on getting enrolled." She answered before turning to Nigel. "Your parents are here." She told him, pointing her thumb back behind her before leaning closer. "Now what is it that you and I are doing, hm?"
"Forget I said that." He could only hope that his parents wouldn't get caught up in the middle of anything. "We have something important to take care of. You just keep doing what you came here for."
"But the adults are talking about boring adult stuff." She gave a little whine. "This sounds like it would be much more interesting. At least tell me what's going on."
"The school hired some construction workers to bulldoze the playground so they can get rid of recess and force us to stay in class the entire school day with no breaks. It was said that they are going to rebuild something else in its place but we have yet to find out so we need to get our hands on any blueprints and have them destroyed." Abby explained knowing there was no harm in telling her. Word had started spreading of what was going down to other students anyways. She could imagine the panic they were feeling at the thought of not being able to play freely as kids should. They would make sure there was still recess no matter what.
"I'm all for a good education but that doesn't sound right. How can I help?" She offered. Next, you'll tell her that this school wants to take away lunch period too. She wouldn't put it past them.
Seeing how they had to get moving and Nigel didn't want to argue for her to stay behind he offered for her to look out and warn them if any more trouble was coming. Accepting the job, Robin followed the team outside where they went separate ways to cover more ground. Robin stayed close but made sure to stay hidden as well, peeking her head out from behind a slide as she observed.
Twirling around, Kuki giggled to get the attention of three men who were discussing which structure they should take down first. Noticing a little girl was dancing in the middle of their construction, they all tried to grab her but only succeeded in running into each other as she hopped on top of them when they tripped and fell to the ground. While she laughed at them, Kuki failed to notice the third one get up and creep up on her from behind. She yelped as he grabbed her arm tightly, demanding to know why she was out here disrupting their work.
"Ahem.."
Feeling a tap on his arm, he turned to see a blonde boy glaring up at him. Aiming his weapon which consisted of a boxing glove attached to it, Wally launched it forward right into his face, knocking the adult out and releasing his grip on Kuki. She smiled at the boy in thanks as she readied her weapon. With more adults running towards them she fired gumballs all over the ground causing them to lose their balance when they accidentally stepped on them. Anyone that did get by, Wally was ready to knock them out just like he did with the first guy.
"Doing good guys. Keep it up." Robin spoke to herself, hearing the machines start up, and could see Hoagie had got a hold of one as planned while Abby was still fighting someone who tried to prevent her from climbing into his bulldozer.
Looking around for Nigel, Robin found him jumping around high up on the jungle gym while shooting hot sauce at who she assumed was the boss with blueprints rolled up in his back pocket. Something didn't seem right though. Why would they keep the blueprints somewhere so easy to find and take? If Nigel was able to get close enough he could surely grab them so why be so careless around a kid?
Moving past the slide and swings, Robin eyed all around her to try and find something out of place. It seemed like Sector V had been taking care of all the workers. Almost all of them. Robin could see one man running across the kickball field with another set of blueprints gripped tightly in his hand. He was muttering about having to make the correct copies or else he will surely be fired.
"Hey, Numbuh 1!" Robin tried calling up to him to let him know what was going on, having reached the jungle gym but it seemed he was too preoccupied to hear her. The boss swung his hard hat at Nigel to try and knock him off balance but he missed and dropped it down below where Robin was.
Everyone had their hands full and didn't even notice the guy. Would they have been able to reach him in time even if they did? Someone had to do something and if she stopped him herself it might get Nigel to trust her more. She knew that he had his doubts about her and didn't blame him but she'd do what she could to change his mind. And that's how she found herself running across the field back toward the school.
"Where'd he go?" She thought to herself, glancing down both hallways once she came through the double doors. This would be so much easier if she already knew the layout of this school but since she didn't, Robin listened closely and was able to make out faint running footsteps from the right, going in that direction.
She eventually found him in a room hitting a copy machine with his fist and yelling at it as if it were a disobedient child. "Work darn you! Oh, maybe it needs more-!" He cried out and grabbed his wrist as he was suddenly kicked causing the plans to be released from his hand and into a little girl's.
"A new teacher's lounge?" Robin looked over what was going to be built in place of the school playground. Wasn't surprising that they wanted somewhere else to get away from the students but why did recess have to be the cost? "Meh, I don't think you'll be needing this anymore," Robin told him, as she began to tear the paper. If Nigel was trying to get the fake plans and this guy was sent in with the real ones it meant that they didn't have an extra copy yet and if she destroyed them now their construction would be ruined. Or at the very least put on hold.
"Hey, you can't do that!" Running forward, he tried to grab Robin and stop her from ripping it anymore only to run into the wall when she slid to the side and dropped his hard hat.
Robin climbed up on a desk and before she could reach for the top of the filing cabinet to get even more height, she was grabbed by the ankle and fell on her butt on top of the desk. She looked up to see the guy towering over her with an angry look on his face. Noticing something behind him, Robin got an idea but this guy would have to back off first.
"I'm giving you one more chance, kid! Give me back those plans!"
"But sir, how can you possibly get anything done with that headache of yours?" Robin faked concern as she put on the hard hat that she stole.
"What are you talking about? I don't have a-!"
Grabbing his shoulders to steady him and herself, Robin leaned her head back before slamming forward and headbutting him in the face with the helmet on. The impact left him completely dazed and he fell backward, seeing stars and birds spinning all around in a circle.
"You do now," Robin told him as she hopped back down and grabbed her head. "Ugh, and so do I."
Throwing the helmet to the side, Robin jumped over him and threw the blueprints into a paper shredder, completing her part of the mission. The machine nearly drowned out his cries that he was so fired but not quite as Robin sighed at the sad display.
"Robin!"
Looking up, Robin saw Kuki, Wally, Abby, and Hoagie peeking in from the doorway with hall monitors holding onto each of them. Wally struggled the most and threatened to pound the kid if he didn't release him.
"Guys!" Robin ran towards them. "How did things go on your end and where's Numbuh 1?"
"Well, we disabled their machines and gave them a good beating but Numbuh 1 said that the blueprints the main worker had were fake!" Hoagie explained with Kuki sending a glare in his direction. While he was driving he lost control when he was tackled by one of the men and the swings were accidentally destroyed in the process. Kuki wasn't too happy about it as they were her favorite.
"Numbuh 1 is searching for the real blueprints but other hall monitors are after him," Abby told her while putting her free hand on Kuki's shoulder to calm her, raising a brow at Robin. "And what are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to be on the lookout?"
"Oh, I had some business to take care of," Robin smirked and stepped to the side so they could see the shredded blue paper on the floor. "I don't think Numbuh 1 has to worry about those plans anymore."
"Alright!" Numbuh 2 cheered but was interrupted by one of the hall monitors.
"Yeah, yeah good for you. But that doesn't save you from getting detention for skipping class! Let's move it!"
The hall monitors began dragging them away and Robin thought she'd be able to meet back up with Monty and Jen in the principal's office but some girl grabbed ahold of her arm and began pulling her along with them.
"You're coming too!"
"But I don't even go to this school!" Robin argued and tried pulling away but was pushed forward and nearly fell on her face.
"You're going to be a new student though, right? Better to know what detention is like now if you're going to be another troublemaker."
"Detention can't be that bad, can it?" Robin turned to her new friends for an answer.
"Numbuh 5 guesses that you either never had detention or it was different in your last school."
Robin did have a detention or two in the past but Abby was right about it being different. What kind of school had a system built like a prison?! They were all thrown into separate cells within the same hall so they would still be able to communicate if they wanted.
"You'll be released at the end of the day! So until then keep it down! Maybe if you all behave we'll consider giving you some grub."
These guys were taking their job way too seriously. She was sure that Monty and Jen wouldn't be too happy to know she got detention before she even officially started school.
"Since we have some time to spare, want to play a round or two?" Robin heard Hoagie ask from the cell next to hers as he placed some cards down between them from outside their cells so they could both reach. Robin agreed with a chuckle as she pulled out her stack of cards from her pocket and told him she's been on a winning streak and wasn't prepared to lose now.
"Bring it!"

They weren't sure how much time passed precisely but it wasn't long before Nigel was brought in with two hall monitors dragging him from either side. Robin's cell was opened and he was thrown inside with a grunt.
"Numbuh 1, are you alright?" Robin went to kneel next to him but was grabbed once again.
"You're free to go for now but only because the principal wants to have a word with you!"
Oh, boy.
"You guys can explain all that happened to Numbuh 1, can't you?" Robin asked as they started leading her away. "Wait, my cards! Numbuh 2 grab my cards!" She yelled to him as they disappeared past the gate.
"Guess what, Numbuh 1! Robin helped complete the mission!" Kuki smiled as Wally agreed that thanks to her there wouldn't be any stupid teachers' lounge being built any time soon.
"That's nice but we might have another problem," Nigel said as he sat up. "Before they brought me in here I'm pretty sure I saw the Delightful Children From Down The Lane."

"Isn't the principal's office back that way?" Robin was still learning which way everything was but she was pretty sure it was in the opposite direction they were going.
"That was just a cover for those who requested to speak with you."
Before Robin could ask who they were talking about, they turned a corner and she looked up to see three boys in blue suits and two girls wearing white sailor dresses standing there waiting for her.
"Hello, Robin Hughes.."
-End Transmission-
SunnieβοΈ: I'm actually thinking of including certain episodes in some chapters and seeing what it would be like if Robin was included in the fun. She does come in sometime after season 1 but I haven't figured out the exact timeline for what I have planned yet. If there is an episode you're interested in seeing I'll consider it but I think most would include the Delightfuls. They are my favorite villains in the show so I love every episode they are in. Though I do love the Toiletnator as well if we're talking adult villains. Who's your favorite villain?

Cyrus: Hey there, new operative! Welcome to the Kids Next Door! We're Sector QT, the best there is...okay, kinda the best there is. Sorta the best?
Paloma: Ahaha, we're still new to the KND. But we're trying our best! In fact, we've had plenty of successful missions!
Monroe: Yep-a-rooni! We even go through near-death experiences during those missions! Wait, that's not a thing to be a proud of...
Judy: Um, what Monroe meant to say is that we're all still learning and we hope we can all learn together! Hopefully, we can avoid near-death experiences in the future.
Dee the squirrel nods his head and squeaks.
Judy: Dee said he can't wait to go on missions with you after you graduate!
Cyrus: We all can't wait to go on missions with you! If you ever need a hand, call us! We might not get it right the first time (or completely make things worse) but we've always managed to pull it through!
Monroe: Just be on the lookout for the Well-Mannered Kids. They're bad and all but there're nothing compared to their alternate forms the Wild Kids. *Shudders in fear*
Paloma: And the Roaches. They're...uh...kinda crazy...and mean...and beat up people, teens and adults included.
Judy: And Mother...she's scary.
Cyrus: Yeah, they're all scary....but don't worry about them! If you ever run into them, we'll be there to help you out! Us operatives have to help each other out like family! With that being said...
All: Welcome to the Kids Next Door!
Robinπβ¨οΈ: I still have yet to meet many sectors, but I'm sure every single one, including you guys, is the best in its own way. Thanks so much for your advice. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the... Roaches? Anyway, I'm glad that most of your missions work out in the end, but where's the fun if things don't get a little crazy every now and then?
