Queen Elizabeth Memorial
Lord Norman Foster's design team has been announced as the winner in the competition for a memorial to honour Britain's longest-reigning monarch, to be built in St James's Park in central London.
Tumblr media
The winning design for the national memorial for Queen Elizabeth II will also feature her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, alongside a traditional statue of the late Queen.
Another key part of the winning entry is a translucent bridge inspired by the shape of the late Queen's wedding tiara.
Tumblr media
The chosen design is multi-faceted, with a separate statue of the Queen and Prince Philip, gardens and a Prince Philip Gate, along with a main monument to the late Queen to be built beside the Mall.
Tumblr media
The design, chosen from a shortlist of five concepts, is a balance of "traditional elements and modern elements, informal and formal", says Lord Robert Janvrin, chair of the memorial committee and the late Queen's former private secretary.

2025: The Royal Foundation's Community Impact
Summary: These partnerships are part of The Royal Foundation's Community Impact programme's ongoing work to mobilise unique coalitions across the UK to help communities foster greater social connection and develop local community spaces.
1️⃣ Transforming community spaces on the Isle of Mull
Tumblr media
Royal Foundation announced two exciting new grants from The Community Impact Programme.
Local interior designer and BBC ‘Designing the Hebrides’ presenter Banjo Beale has volunteered his expertise to collaborate with residents to create spaces that reflect the island’s coastal beauty and vibrant culture. Plans include playful murals, refurbished furniture, and upcycled artefacts, all designed to breathe new life into this essential community hub.
In Tobermory, the much-loved Aros Hall is being re-designed, with work including the refurbishment of the ‘Rainydays’ play area and the introduction of a new soft play zone. These improvements respond to parents’ feedback about the need for more play opportunities for children in the north of Mull. The space will continue to be an essential part of the community, regularly used by local charity Home-Start Lorn to support parents and carers in building strong relationships with their children.
Meanwhile, Pennyghael Community Hall, located in the rural Ross of Mull, will benefit from crucial renovations including vital roof repairs to ensure the hall continues to serve future generations.
The grants have been bolstered by partnerships with key organisations through The Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood‘s Business Taskforce. The Co-op has provided funding for play equipment for Aros Hall’s ‘Rainydays’ play area, while the LEGO Group has contributed resources to encourage young children on the Isle of Mull to have access to creative play and hands-on learning.
The Foundation is also helping the community explore plans for a sustainable café in the Ross of Mull and fostering opportunities for connection through yoga-based activities funded by local funders the Q Charitable Trust.
2️⃣ Securing roles for rangers in Mull & Iona
Tumblr media
The funding, provided through The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife programme, will secure the future of two ranger positions, preventing the loss of these essential services. Rangers play a crucial role in balancing conservation with sustainable tourism, ensuring the natural beauty of the Isles remains accessible to residents and visitors alike.
3️⃣ Community led changes in Leith
Tumblr media
The Royal Foundation announced a new partnership with Street Soccer Scotland through its ongoing Community Impact Programme.
This partnership will launch ‘Leith United,’ a local coalition working to revitalise community spaces and foster social connection for vulnerable communities in Edinburgh. By bringing together Leith Community Centre, YMCA Edinburgh, and Street Soccer Scotland, this initiative will strengthen local wellbeing and create a blueprint for sustainable social impact that communities across the UK can replicate.
With support from The Royal Foundation, ‘Leith United’ will enhance existing sports-based initiatives at Leith Community Centre, using the power of football to support individuals facing mental health challenges, addiction, homelessness, and isolation—ensuring they feel part of a welcoming and inclusive community.
As part of The Royal Foundation’s ongoing commitment to strengthening social connection, additional support has been secured to further enhance ‘Leith United.’ This includes an in-kind donation of football equipment from Mitre, the official ball supplier for the FA and football governing bodies globally, to help sustain sports-based initiatives at Leith Community Centre.

It was so grand that the King eventually took the Hampton Court Palace for himself and added a hotel, theatre, and leisure complex to the grounds.
Later, when King William III and Queen Mary II took the throne, the royal couple appointed Sir Christopher Wren to expand the palace and landscape architect Capability Brown to tend to the gardens.

BAFTA's; Kate's Catalogue Of Fashion
A look at the Princess of Wales throughout the many years she’s attended the BAFTAs.
The Stats - Designer
This time, the Princess of Wales does lean towards a particular designer for this event. She has chosen Alexander McQueen for all of her occasions apart from one, in 2018, where Catherine wore Jenny Packham.
Tumblr media
The Stats - Colour
However, for the colour - whilst there is a winner; the Princess does not lean towards one. But with two occasions under its belt, white is the winner. Followed with one occasions each - pink, black & green.
Tumblr media
The Stats - Jewels
For this event, the Princess of Wales does not repeat nor look towards a particular designer but she does lean towards the royal vault, including her own personal gifts for this event.
The show stopper jewel came in 2018 when Catherine brought back the emeralds (an apparent wedding gift) but debuted the large necklace to match.

Opinion Piece: How Prince William will change the monarchy, by those close to him
There are already small but significant shifts. Traditionally, lord lieutenants of each county have welcomed senior members of the royal family to engagements, but they are rarely seen on William’s jobs. A friend of the royal family tells me: “He often doesn’t feel he needs to have the lord lieutenants welcome him. So you don’t see them in the court circular as much as you do for other members of the family. It really pisses some of the lord lieutenants off. But he doesn’t always feel he needs them there, with the extra layer of formality.” Sources close to William insist he values the work of the lord lieutenants, but acknowledge that shift.
Tumblr media
Those close to him say that William is acutely aware of the importance to the institution and the public of the “magic and pageantry” of set pieces like Trooping the Colour. But he is also conscious that the royal family’s traditional Buckingham Palace balcony appearance will soon look very different as the number of working royals declines.
The Waleses admire Edward’s quiet, dutiful approach to his role and Sophie’s diligent, determined work on causes such as sexual violence in conflict and supporting young people. William’s view, says a friend, is that the Edinburghs are “needed” and “it’s really important the fantastic work that they do is seen”.
Also ones to watch will be William’s cousin, Zara Tindall, and her husband Mike, Zara’s brother Peter Phillips and the York sisters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. None are working royals but, between them, they supported William at Buckingham Palace garden parties he hosted last month and last year. Without his brother the Duke of Sussex as a wingman, they are likely to support William more in the future, though he has no plans to put them on the payroll.
A source close to William says “he understands how important Ascot is, not just to the racing community but to UK plc”, but concedes he will not be as hands on with Ascot and the royal stud at Sandringham, Norfolk, as the current and previous monarchs. Step forward Zara?
There is repositioning on the home front, too. Not long ago, a friend of the royal family with strong ties to Scotland, told me: “Scotland thinks William doesn’t really care. His grandmother got it, his father gets it, he needs to be in Scotland more. The independence issue has gone away for a bit but it won’t be forever.” There has been a recent uptick in William’s visits north of the border. Last month he did engagements in Leith and joint visits with Catherine to the Isles of Mull and Iona and to Glasgow. William has also done engagements in Wales this year and last visited Belfast in November.

A look at the Princess of Wales throughout the many years she’s attended the Garter Service.

Tumblr media
Afterwards, with one occasion each it's - red & grey.
The Stats - Jewels
No surprise to anyone, the jeweller with the most occasions is - Kiki McDonough. The designer was worn on the first two services after Catherine's wedding.

Commonwealth Day Service; Kate’s Catalogue of Fashion
A look at the Princess of Wales throughout the many years she’s attended the Commonwealth Day Service.
The Stats - Designer
The designer the Princess of Wales turns to the most for this occasion is Catherine Walker, with four occasions under her belt for the commonwealth day service. For three years in a row, Catherine turned to this designer before wearing it to this year's service as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The runner up, surprisingly, is Erdem, with two occasions Catherine wore the designer.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, its one time only for the following designer - Beulah London. On Catherine's first attendance in 2015; she wore a still unidentified bespoke coat dress.
The Stats - Colour
Two colours are fighting it out for the top spot and it is red & blue, with three occasions each.
Tumblr media
Next with one appearances each - it is pink & grey.
The Stats - Jewels
The Princess of Wales does not repeat in this department - no jewel has ever been worn twice for the Commonwealth Day Service.
However, she does use this event to debut some interesting jewels;
1️⃣ The diamond earrings that Catherine has never worn again 2️⃣ Flower bouquet brooch 3️⃣ Mouawad earrings

Trooping the colour; Kate's Catalogue of Fashion
A look at the Princess of Wales throughout the many years she's attended the Trooping the Colour.
The Stats - Designer
The designer the Princess of Wales turns to the most for this occasion, and I had forgotten how many pieces were worn - and that is Alexander McQueen with 8 pieces worn by the Princess, starting with her very first occasion in 2011 to her last appearance in the designer in 2022.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The runner up is - Catherine Walker, with the Princess turning to the designer for this year's trooping the colour.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, its one time only for the following designers - Erdem, Andrew Gn & Jenny Packham.
The Stats - Colour
Two colours are fighting it out for the top spot and they should be no surprise - it is white & blue, with four occasions each.
Tumblr media
Next with two appearances; it is pink & green and then with only one appearance to its name - yellow.
The Stats - Jewels
Weirdly, each item Catherine has repeated - she has only done so on two occasions for each item (for now)
1️⃣ Bahrain Pearl Earrings 2️⃣ Princess Diana's Sapphire Earrings 3️⃣ Annoushka Pearl Earrings
It should also be of no surprise that the jewellery designer who has the most pieces worn is -Kiki McDonough.
Throughout her appearances; Catherine does debut some interesting jewellery choices, including - Princess Diana's Sapphire Earrings, Diamond Cross Necklace & Pearl Brooch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is also an occasion, in my opinion, that Kate uses to take fashion chances - like this piece from Andrew Gn.

The Vogue 25: Meet The Women Defining Britain In 2025
via (link)
The Princess Royal
Twenty-twenty-four was an unprecedented year for the royal family. Princess Anne, widely regarded as the “hardest working royal” remained steadfast as the King and Princess of Wales stepped away from the public eye to focus on their respective cancer treatments, taking on a staggering 217 public engagements last year alone. In August, the only daughter of the late Queen will turn 75, marking three quarters of a century dedicated to representing the nation, and she shows no signs of slowing down.
Tumblr media
The Princess of Wales
In joyful remission from her cancer diagnosis, the future Queen carries herself with the air of someone with her priorities in order: family, country, philanthropy. From her work on early years development to her championing of the arts, recently Vogue took particular note of her warm and informed presentation of the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design to Patrick McDowell – when it comes to shining a light, no one brings more wattage.

Trooping the colour; A History
In the 17th century , the colour - or flag - of a Regiment would be trooped in front of soldiers so that they would recognise it when it was used as a rallying point in battle.
Tumblr media
In 1748 it was ordered that this parade would also mark King Charles II's birthday.
The parade was established as an annual tradition to celebrate the monarch's birthday when King George III acceded the throne in 1760.
The parade involves over 1,000 soldiers, around 200 horses, and approximately 300 musicians.
Tumblr media
A modern addition to the parade is the flypast, which is watched by members of the Royal Family from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, concluding the historic display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare.
Note: This year (2025) after the sad event of the plane crash in India; King Charles has requested for a minute silence as well as, members of the royal family to wear black arm bands. (link)

Legal action against the Home Office
The duke brought legal action against the Home Office over the security arrangements for himself and his family when they are in the UK.
He challenged the February 2020 decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) – which falls under the remit of the Home Office – over his security, after being told he would no longer be given the “same degree” of personal protective security when visiting.

Meghan's biggest business venture yet is her lifestyle brand, now renamed As Ever. Last year in March, the duchess soft-launched American Riviera Orchard (ARO) when she landed an Instagram page for it with the same handle, which linked to a website and only had the duchess's logo on it.
But after a series of setbacks regarding its trademark, the duchess announced this week that her new brand will be called As Ever.

Bullying Allegations
1️⃣ But in the autumn of 2018, the developments took a sensational turn when Jason Knauf, the couple's communications secretary at the time, submitted a formal complaint about the claims in an apparent bid to protect his staff.
They were published in The Times just days before the couple sat down for their tell-all interview with America's TV queen, Oprah Winfrey, in March 2021.
On June 29, 2022, the Palace announced it had completed its review into the handling of the bullying allegations – but that it would stay secret.
2️⃣ In January 2025, the well-respected Vanity Fair magazine published a damning 8,000-word cover story about their new lives in California – which included more details of alleged harsh behaviour from Meghan.
Meghan and Harry refused to comment on the Vanity Fair story.
