Chapter 30
Words: 3.4k
Summary:
Phil tells Tommy and Wilbur about the escape plan. It's received about as well as can be expected.
Preview:
Tommy might be sort of possibly freaking out. Slightly. Lately, Dream’s visits had lost their regularity. He still got food right on schedule, but Dream wasn’t always the one bringing it. And maybe Tommy should have felt relieved at not seeing the man every day, but if anything, this sudden change in behavior was even more unsettling. Not to mention how Sapnap — out of all people — had popped up a few days ago, nor, Prime forbid, the out-of-the-blue visit from Phil.  Just when things had finally begun to fall into some form of predictability, and therefore stability, now he felt like the rug was being pulled out from under him. Had been pulled. So this time, when he heard the door unlock, Tommy genuinely had no idea who to expect.

Chapter 13
Words: 3.9k
Summary:
Someone visits Ness at work.
Preview:
When Ness headed into work that afternoon, he felt marginally more rested. He hadn’t been able to sleep as much as he might have liked due to the constant churn of thoughts in his head, but he’d still caught a few hours. Now, all he had to do was clear up yesterday’s absence with whichever manager happened to be in. He hoped it was Ryan. Ryan was a generally understanding person as well as fairly laid back. Not that he didn’t run a tight ship, but he wasn’t too much of a hardass regarding rules. Besides, Ness had done Ryan a favor by coming in on short notice the other day, so Ryan had even more cause to be lenient with him.

maybe the real freddy's mystery was the friends we made along the way

On the first day of Mike Schmidt's new job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, he stops by Sparky's Diner for some coffee. the worst thing about writing or any kind of craft is having an idea you're really excited to make a reality but then you sit down and realize how much work it's going to take to get to that point and suddenly you feel like those two little gay guys in the mountain in the lord of the rings

basically I think that if your protagonist doesn’t want to fuck someone so bad it makes them look stupid, then there probably isn’t enough energy in your story. “Fuck someone” isn’t literal btw—they can want to uncover the secrets of their parent’s death, they can want to prove their worth, they can want a donut from one particular bakery—it can be anything so long as they want it so bad that they’ll make decisions that make any sane person go “are you a moron??”, with little to no forethought, or even tons of forethought and this is still the option they chose. Because they want to fuck that thing so bad.

I think one of the weirdest side effects of being a writer is that while I'm reading, I'll just start subconsciously editing the book. Like, if a sentence sounds odd or off to me, I'll fix it in my head and continue reading as if that were how it was written.
Does anybody else do this?

im a fucking sucker for the “character gets so badly injured that they can’t think clearly and start calling for help in a distressingly vulnerable way.” characters who start using nicknames for their friends they haven’t used since they were kids. characters who start begging for their brother they haven’t seen in years to be there. characters who would usually use their parents’ names or call them mother/father/etc crying out mama when they go down. u understand.

there are some things a character should not be able to tell us about themselves EVEN with a gun to their head. depending on the character that could even expand to include "most" things

oc asks that reveal more than you think
Do they sleep with a stuffed animal? If they have multiple, who’s the favorite?
Can they take care of a plant? What about a pet? What about a child?
Ask them to describe their love interest.
Do they look good in red?
Speech! Speech! Speech! Speech! Will they give one, and what about?
Who will they take advice from, no matter what it is? Who won’t they take advice from, no matter what it is?
Describe them in three words. Now let them describe themself in three words.
Do complex puzzles intrigue or frustrate them?
Do they empathize with non-sentient things (dolls, plants, books…)?
What age do they most want to be right now?
They’ve won the lottery. Spend, or save?
Do they like romance in the books they read (or in the book they’re in)?
Name one thing their parents taught them.
Would they agree with the term ‘guilty pleasure’? Do they have any?
What would they consider a waste of time– other than school or work?
If money wasn’t a limit, what would they wear?
Do they like children?
Kissing: tongue or no tongue?
Do they study before tests? Practice before job interviews?
What do they like that nobody else does?
What would it take for them to break up with someone? What would be the last straw?
Do they like being called pet names? Do they call other people pet names? What’s their go-to?
Stability or novelty?
Honesty or charity?
Safety or possibility?
Talent or effort?
Forgiveness or vengeance (or…)?
Would they date a fixer-upper?
What recurring dreams do they have?
What would they do if they knew it would be forgiven?

Chapter 29
Words: 4.5k
Summary:
Phil tells Dream that he might be taking the wrong approach with Tommy and Wilbur.
Preview:
The next time Phil found Dream, the commander was in his office. He paused for just a moment before knocking on the door. There was a brief silence before the words “come in” managed to pierce through the metal. Phil pressed the access panel and waited for the door to slide open. As soon as he stepped inside, he could tell he was interrupting something. Not only was Dream not alone in the office — Sapnap was there as well — but an uncomfortable tension lingered in the air, like the scent of smoke after a fire had just been smothered. But they hadn’t been yelling or anything when he’d walked up, had they? The walls were thick enough to give weight to his doubt.
