I released a 5-song EP titled "Somewhere" in 2022 inspired by a minimal house playlist I was listening to at the time. I had recently re-committed to releasing my own music and the title refers to having to start somewhere. Then in 2023, I released a song titled "Curious" in a 3-song single, with the title referring to my commitment to remaining curious about music production. This mix brings those two releases together.

One of the many things I like about my day job is that we have a Volunteer Day, where each employee is given a paid day off to volunteer with the charity of their choice whenever and however they want. I have been a musician and music fan for most of my life, and I am proud to live and work in the Detroit area where I grew up, so I am volunteering with a non-profit that is close to my heart, the Detroit Sound Conservancy, a non-profit community-based music archive that is dedicated to preserving, activating, and celebrating Detroit’s musical heritage. I chose to volunteer today because it happens to be The Day That Music Cares, a day of service organized by the MusiCares Foundation. This week's Disquiet Junto prompt was to take an existing track that is in 4/4 and re-work it so it is in 5/4. I participated in #WeeklyBeats in 2024 and near the end I challenged myself to compose tracks in any time signature other than 4/4. I ended up with a handful of tracks in odd time that I really enjoyed making. So I went back to Week 1 from last year and converted it from 4/4 to 5/4.
