why are we not talking about how butch shoots from the hip. butch takes henrys gun at his hip and angles it up and shoots somewhere upwards somehow. from the hip
shoot from the hip is actually a phrase about the cowboys with pistols on their belt or whatever shooting so fast that its as if they were shooting from the hip so this is even more apt!!

we need to talk about tom’s voice here
the shakiness. the gasps for breath. the back and forth with himself. the almost comic swallow before “co-conspirators”. the what the subtitlers have rightfully named [happy sounds]. it’s so so perfect ahsdnskjdk

we're all gay you see and they gave us the most adorable happy sapphics so we could not keep quiet
Never give Annabell a gun is great for sfthblr because I've seen so many more SFTH fans on here that I haven't seen before like you're all coming out of your shells lmao

Okay not to be dramatic but I think the first of the two kisses in Never Give Annabelle a Gun might be the best SFTH kiss ever, and not just because it’s sapphic (although that’s a definite upside)
I think the thing that gets me about it is the way Annabelle just kisses Butch right in the middle of her sentence. Like, she fully cuts her off—and not the kind of cut-off where you can tell the boys are acting, but Luke actually cutting Tom off in the middle of the sentence. And something about that just really stands out to me. I think it makes it feel even more real (not that their characters and couples don’t usually feel real; they do, this is just an extra level).

TOM REALLY WENT ‘IF WE’RE GONNA DO HAPPY SAPPHICS IM GONNA MAKE IT AS SWEET AND AWKWARD AS POSSIBLE’ AND THEN LUKE WENT ‘LET ME BE SO IN LOVE I WANT TO COMMIT CRIMES TOGETHER’ AND THEN SAM WENT ‘FUCK IT [TRANSES YOUR WHOLESOME TEENAGE COWBOY]’ AND THEN AJ WENT ‘I’LL BE THE ONLY BAD GUY IN THIS WHOLE LONGFORM SO THE RESOLUTION IS EASY AS FUCK’ WE DONT DESERVE THEM

Ok but can we take a second to appreciate Luke and AJ’s acting in that final confrontation?? Like the way AJ was playing that character was setting off so many alarm bells for me, I’ve absolutely had the misfortune of encountering men like him before, and it’s even worse when they actively disrespect your sexuality. And Luke REALLY nailed this scene. Like the clear discomfort in the body language, that hint of fear in his voice, the careful and calm navigation of the situation so as to not escalate things further. Like holy shit I’ve been in that EXACT position before. I had a sudden wave of fear and discomfort just wash over me watching that, and I really do mean that as a compliment because it’s a testament to how GOOD that acting was. AND THE WHOLE THING WAS IMPROVISED!!!
