I just finished my 3rd sewing project. I'm feeling more and more confident with each new project. I chose this one because I wanted to learn how to add elastic to a garment. It was much easier than I thought. I think any moderately beginner sewer could complete this in a day and half. I did end up runnig out of fabric and had to order another yard just for the waist channels and ties.

This is the Elliot Front Tie Top by Cool Stitches if anyone wants to try it out. I chose a medium size with the hopes that I would get down to my pre-pandemic weight by June so no mod shots for now.

Busy sewing and knitting

I've been so busy knitting and sewing! I've finished 2 garments and one sweater so far this year. I'm really loving sewing because it's so much more faster than knitting. I also get to choose the fabric and tailor things to flatter my body. Sewing was really challenging for me at first mostly because I chose really difficult patterns to start with. Now I'm really comfortable with my sewing machine and don't need to a step-by-step tutorial anymore. I've been feeling so much more fulfilled creating something tangible and wearable. I just have to make sure I'm not burning myself out on it. My next projects are increasing in the difficulty a bit. I'm making a top with elastic at the sleeve openings and a full circle skirt with a zipper. I'm so excited to tackle those challenges.

The only things I've been indulging in is food because of all the end of year festivities. I went to a kamayan a few days before Christmas. I almost didn't go but I'm so glad I did. I had a ball talking to new people about anime and Real Housewives. Even a homebody needs human interaction. I only have a picture of the aftermath

My bf and I celebrated our anniversary with a trip to The Broad and dinner at a local restaurant. We walked over to Pitchoun! after walking around the museum since we needed a pick me up in the afternoon. Dinner at Little Beast never misses. I've never had anything bad there. My favorites were the Spanish cheese board and the Belgian chocolate pudding.

On New Years' Eve, we decided to take it easy and cook a comforting meal at home. I made French Onion grilled cheese and got some tomato bisque from the grocery store. It was so good I was thinking about making seconds. I thought it would be cute to get a cupcake with a candle and blow it out at midnight. I had trouble lighting a match with the dinky matchbook I had and ended up missing the countown. I already have a lighter in my Amazon cart so this doesn't happen again.

Little Tokyo

I spent today out in Little Tokyo. I really had a hankering for okonomiyaki and takoyaki. It's changed a lot since I was last there. There was a new gachapon store and a store full of mini crane machines.

I started the morning by eating some soft-boiled eggs with furikake straight from Japan. It was so good and spicy.

We got there around 1pm and I was surprised that it wasn't very crowded. It turns out the crowd got much worse by 2-3pm. A lot of the stores have lines because they're limiting how many people can be in the store. It's much appreciated since the stores there are so tiny. If there are too many people in a store, it's really hard to move around.

We had okonomiyaki and takoyaki at Chinchikurin. The wait time was only 10 minutes! I had the Hiroshima okonomiyaki and Gabe had the spicy gomu. Both were really good! The spicy gomu was very rich and even had jalapenos in it. The Hiroshima was surprisingly light and pleasant. I though it would be heavy but most of the okonomiyaki is lettuce. I was disappointed by the takoyaki. The sauce was way too sweet for me. It would have been much better plain or with another sauce.

For dessert, I found a crepe place nearby that had creme brulee crepes. You can choose a creme brulee top on a crepe It was by far the best thing I ate today. I got regular custard bananas and whipped cream inside. The custard was heavenly and full of flavor. The only downside is that there were only 4 banana slices in mine.

Little Tokyo was fun but so crowded later in the afternoon. I don't think I'd go back for a while unless I went to Sushi Gen.

Christmas was fun but I think the older you get, the more stressful it is. I'm just really thankful to see all of my relatives. We had 2 different Christmas parties to go to so there was a lot of food to eat.

Thanksgiving was chill this year. A lot of people were sick so we had a lot of leftovers. I ate a lot less than I usually do. I think it's because I'm getting older.
