Now hear me out here, what does a spellbook need to be a spellbook in DND?
I believe it has to be-
1. Able to store information
2. Thats it.
Now I am a kenku (bird person with unusable wings) right? I have feathers.
Say, I make my spellbook based off of a base one binary system with each hair of a feather being a 1 or a 0. That means I can store information into the feather. My tattered, unusable wings could be repurposed into a spellbook. It synergies with my kind of acrobatic wizard idea, and lets me have a cool spell book. Imagine material components, like sticking a piece of gum arabic onto the end of a feather (That has runes and missing hairs) to cast invisibility or sprinkling powdered iron into the core of a feather to cast enlarge/reduce. I am able to “edit” these feathers because of crumpets beak, which has a ton of small serrated edges and points that are used to cut into his feathers. I could tie in the serrated bits with his backstory, and have him invent his form of magic in a eureka moment after his entire family and everyone he loves dies.
