So what is mini maui's opinion on mauixmoana relationship exactly, in your fic (love them btw) seems rather cute and supportive about it. What if mini maui has a crush on actual moana?

a good question!

mini-maui is all for it, because he can tell it’s what maui actually wants (even if he’s being a dumb baby about it). if he felt that maui was wanting to take advantage of her or anything he’d disapprove but as far as he can tell there are genuine emotions happening, so he’s supportive of the relationship

he’s liked moana from the start, but i don’t think it’s crush-level. i see mini as ace but i’m still undecided as whether he’s aro as well; either way, he knows that humans & magical tattoos have very different lives and is fine being her friend. the fact that knows maui likes her and that he now has “his own” version of moana to interact with also helps stave off any potential romantic feelings that might’ve developed (even though she’s different from the real moana, just like mini-maui is different from real maui)

ON THE OTHER HAND pining is like, my favorite thing in the entire fucking world so yeah, what if mini-maui had a crush on moana? he knows they can’t actually be together together, but he urges maui to spend more time with her, tries interacting as often as he can, generally basks in the glow of warmth whenever she pays attention to him. probably tattoo-moana is like “but what about me?” in this scenario so we get double the pining!

the real moana thinks it’s cute, and he doesn’t get like, creepy about it ever, so while she tells him you know it’s never going to work out like that she still acts friendly towards him. probably she’s the one to recognize that tattoo-moana is acting like she has a crush on mini (because fuck knows maui isn’t going to think about emotions if he doesn’t have to), and she subtly tries to get them together

“She always said she’d return as a manta ray,” Moana continued with a smile, looking out over the ocean in the distance, as though she would be able to see her grandmother’s ghost one more time that way. “So when she died, there was this chill in the air, and I saw a manta ray - or its spirit - leave the island, underneath my canoe, headed towards… well… you, I suppose.”

His mouth was slightly open, and he appeared baffled as he tried to process that.

“She was the one who told me to grab you by the ear and drag you to Te Fiti,” she admitted with a chuckle, focusing on his lei while she added a few more petals. “After we first battled Te Ka and you left, I was about to give up. But she came to me again. I saw the manta ray spirit approach through the water, and suddenly she was there, on my boat – human, but also a ghost – offering her guidance one final time.” Her smile was sad and as she focused on the lei, she hoped she could keep herself from crying. “Without her, I would have given up for sure… I’m glad I didn’t.”
