#tbt to young weezy wee

For those of you who knew me in college, you likely recall my lengthy obsession with Lil Wayne. Exhibit A for those of you who didn't, I dressed up as him for Halloween one year....

  ....and onto Exhibit B, when I wrote an ode to him in my senior year hip hop blog Brookline Stand Up. Much Weezy worshipping took place before, in between, and after.

These days he gets a bad rap (pun intended) for being a sizzurp-slurping scofflaw responsible for mediocre and oftentimes obnoxious cameos on every other mainstream hip hop track that drops. But whether you're a youngin' who only knows him by Love Me and Rich As Fuck, or a hater who automatically dismissed him upon first listen, you don't know what you're missing. Lil Wayne's past is a treasure trove of dynamic beats and rapid-fire rhymes that for a time had him poised to be one of the greatest rappers in the game.
