if you follow pocket-deer-boy or think what he's saying about trans men is right then just block me bc yes he is speaking over trans people. the reason it may seem like trans men "have it easier" is because we're being actively silenced. we're assumed to be too stupid to know what we're talking about which is exactly what he's parroting by insisting we're privileged. trans men do not get treated like ugly women when we don't pass, we're treated like freaks. when ppl talk about protecting little girls they're talking about trans boys. being infantilized is not better than being demonized. not even mentioning that if infantilization doesn't work they'll just switch the latter. friendly reminder to be more critical of cis ppl engaging in inter community discourse, cuz often these mfs just wanna find a group they can shit on. i am saying this because I reblogged and liked a lot of his posts, not thinking much. but it's saddening to see him just be open abt his hate for trans men / mascs and suggest that we're simply whiny babies (what does that sound like to you?)

my opinion on the whole ravenbarley situation is that.

it's not that serious.

just because the gays are canon now doesn't mean the fandom is ignoring the fact that the book series is flawed. people are just celebrating the fact that the book has a canon gay couple, considering how difficult it would be to have that showcased in a children's book

also, the person who commented on the fact that the canon gay ship does nothing to remedy the books other problems just. doesn't like the graphic novels! and that's fine!!! they were really just sharing their opinion on the book. I doubt they were saying "don't celebrate the canon gay couple grr" more like, "this isn't a huge change to what the books are already like."

and the people who do celebrate the new gay couple are not ignoring the fact that the books are shit. but this is an important step I think for the books. of course, we don't know how the adaptation will handle other controversial events in the series but it's better than holding a cigarette up to your mouth and staying pessimistic. at least for me.

If you still dislike the books, that's fine. But don't act like they killed your grandma or something.

The thing about Ravenpaw isn't just "yay gay cat." (I mean let's be real, that's HUGE and good enough, but there's more.

Ravenpaw was an out of place, awkward, shy, scared cat in ThunderClan. He was bullied and ultimately scared for his life because the trusted senior cat targeted him.

How many LGBTQIA+ kids can relate to that? And unlike a lot of queer stories, his doesn't end in tragedy!! He gets out of it and finds the life that's perfect for him. That's fucking beautiful, and I'm so happy that teens are going to be able to read that and not have it be hidden away like we did.

Do you not see the current political climate? Queer rights are at right, queer children are scared. The fact that Warriors in this moment in history has decidedto introduce openly gay couples says a lot. In today's political climate, it means the world to young viewers to finally see representation on the pages.

While the books have clear flaws in regards to grooming, ableism, sexism, and xenophobia I think its alright to celebrate this one win.
