MR. Denture and Pom Pom

The raindrops fell torrentially on the asphalt and the roofs of the houses making it impossible to go out and not get wet in the process.

And to think that Valentine's Day started out being quite nice.

The birds sang, the flowers bloomed and the sun shone behind fluffy clouds.

A perfect day for lovers.

However, those plans for an outdoor date to take advantage of the beautiful day were withered with the arrival of the first drops of water and then turned into a heavy rain.

In these circumstances it was necessary to proceed to plan B.

Date at home with pizza and movies.

Cuddled up with each other in the comfort of their bed, surrounded by soft blankets and fluffy pillows, (chosen by the winner in a fair game of rock, paper and scissors) the couple let themselves be enveloped in their comfortable bubble with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse playing.

‘‘Do you think we would meet in another universe?’’ Asked the red-haired man.

‘‘Well it's possible. I mean we're already in this one’’ answered the petite woman who was lying curled up on his side.‘‘So there might be a chance that it could happen again’’.

In response he placed a light kiss on the crown of her head and then rested his cheek on her dark hair.

‘‘Hmm… Hey Pomelia’’.

‘‘Yes Kane. I'm going to keep loving you whether you're a worm, a pixel, a piano, a cake, a cane, or a bubble’’ she answered jokingly.

‘‘Hmm… even if I look like a false tooth?’’ He asked, taking from his shelf one of his many trinkets that they had around the room.

‘‘Pff hahaha. Are you really going to bring Mr. Denture into this?’’ Mr. Denture was a toy denture that he had personalized with a top hat and eyes of different colors.

‘‘Yes or No?’’

‘‘Yes. Although I would like to know how it would work’’.

Kane looked at the toy, then at Pomelia and without hesitation pressed the teeth into the girl's cheek.

‘‘Mwah... Done, one less problem solved’’.

Pomelia looked at him for a few seconds processing what had just happened and then turned around, reaching for the small ball filled with cotton.

‘‘Would you love me even if I looked like a Pom Pom?’’ She asked, showing her little friend decorated like a clown's face and an adorable hat.

‘‘A clown, a burger, a pin, a hamster, a backpack... It doesn't matter what, I would love you in all the ways you are’’.

A slight smile appeared on the girl's face, without losing the rhythm she pressed the little clown against the man's cheek.

‘‘Mwah... Done we are even’’.

A few seconds of silence passed before being interrupted by laughter at the silly but cute moment. Once this subsided the couple returned their attention to the movie.

With Mr. Denture and PomPom accompanying them.

Pomni decided to breathe fresh air. That's odd. She didn't took her smoking pipe with her.

"UUUUUHHHH CAINE! YOU STUPID BASTARD! WHO IN HIS CLEAR MIND BREAK HIS OWN SOUL IN TWO!" She screamed out of Hopelessness.

"Wow. Puppets can split their souls?" Suddenly Pomni heard a female voice.

"Melissa. You made your return!" Pomni hugged an old friend of her sister.

"Haha. Yep. I suddenly became homesick. Wanna see my adventure-journal? By the way. May i see Lilac?"

Pomni smirked. "She is with Able. Besides, it's evening, they are busy right now."

"Ah. A date with her beloved. I'm so happy for her." Melissa sincerely smiled.

"If you liked to call it that way than ok." Pomni shrugged. "You can stay in the bunker. I will show you your room."

"Thank you wery much" Melissa followed her.

After Puppeteer showed to Melissa her room, she sighed.

"I need to check on Caine and Scarlet. They probably half dead right now."

"Who is Scarlet?" Melissa asked.

"Oh, right, you never met him. Come on, let's go."

They went to Caine's room. The assassin and his second personality now had independent bodies, but their souls wouldn't let them go away from each other for more that a metre. So they just sitting on the floor of Caine's room, back to back, grumbling.

"Ok. So those are my dorks. You already know Caine. And there's his other personality who now has his own body. He named himself Scarlet." Pomni pointed her hand at the two of them.

Melissa decided to sit in front of Scarlet "holly gravel. They looks like twins. Hey-o. I'm Melissa, an old friend of Lilac and Pomni. How are you feeling, mate?"

"uh... not quite sure." Scarlet tried to stand up, but his soul felt miserable so he returned to his original position.

"Soul connection. How fascinating. Caine. Did you did this operation?" Melissa asked.

Pomni made an attempt to calm Caine down, so she sat on his lap and he hugged her.

"For some reason I have enough knowledge to do so." Caine got a kiss from Pomni on his 'cheek'. "But I don't remember how I became such professional."

"You are an amateur, not a professional. Who In his right mind split his soul in two?" Pomni started scolding him.

"Well excuse me! You were scared when you woke up, and near you was him and not me!" He retorted.

"I got spooked because his eyes are bright fucking red!"

And at this moments Caine and Scarlet groan in perfect unison.

"And now I can't leave the two fucks alone because if they're in the same room they try to kill each other, but we can't put them in separate rooms because they both break down and get depressed if they're that far from each other." Pomni explained.

"Well, why i don't babysit them while you are resting?" Melissa suggested.

"You don't have to. I mean, I'm ok with calming down Caine." Pomni took Caine's hand. "the problem is that Scarlet is jealous and when he is sad, his sadness transfer to Caines as well."

Suddenly, Melissa had an idea.

"so, you want cuddles too? Ok then." She pressed his head against her chest. "us, mannequins, are THE BEST huggers."

Scarlet, completely freezes up, started to think. "oh... Wow, she's so soft, like a pillow..." He pulls her up further against him, cuddling her.

"He calmed down!" Caine fealt the mood changing.

"It worked? Melissa, you are a genius!" Pomni smiled.

Suddenly, Scarlet pulled Melissa towards him, so she fell on him.

"oh..." Caine felt something.

"what's wrong?" Pomni saw how Caine became angry.

"SCARLET!"

Scarlet was speaking in duzzle voice. "whaaaaat?"

"Are you THAT desperate?!"

"don't blame me~"

Melissa snorted "Pfft-, what it's not like puppets are built with-" Then she Sits down fully in Scarlet's lap and feels something under his pants, her entire body tenses up.

Scarlet Groans softly at the slight pressure, his hands gently wrap around her waist loose enough that she could easily slip out.

Caine glared at him over his shoulder. "Horny fool."

Scarlet huffed in response.

Melissa, still in shell shocked silence looked to Pomni for help and clarity.

"ok, boys, i know that puberty is hard, but keep it together." Pomni stood up and took Melissa from Scarlets embrace.

Scarlet held out his hands. "noooo! give her back, pleeeasee!"

"go and hug a pillow, sukin sin." Pomni grabbed Melissa's arm and dragged her outside the room.

"s...since when do puppets have human organs?!" Melissa asked still in shock.

"this is called "enlightening"." Pomni explained. "Some puppets are gaining what they lost after their human death. If you felt that, that means that you are enlightened as well."

"b...but i didn't lost anything. I feeling the same as i was while being a human!"

"well. Because you returned all your memories really fast, my guess that you managed to become enlighten at the same time. So congrats. You can fuck that red bastard. Or sorry for you loss, because he can fuck you."

Melissa didn't know how to feel at that moment. She was scared and worried at the same time. However, her natural curiosity and love of adventure are now dulled, as such information must first be digested.

"Ah... I'm going to go to my room and think about some things...

Pomni gave her a knowing look as Lissa was going towards her room

"Yep, take as long as you need, I'll make sure they don't kill each other."

On The next morning Caine and Scarlet got strong enough to go to kitchen and drink some koffee. Caine and Scarlet have the same coffee preference; mostly creamer and some espresso. Those two have only been separated for a day and Pomni hasn't had time to tell Lilac and Able, so they just walk into the kitchen to see what looks like two Caine's drinking coffee.

Lilac started to wisper. "Love, when i asked you to be harder, i didn't mean that i want to see double..."

Able responded. "in that case you did the same with me..."

Melissa walked in the kitchen. Because it was morning and she doesn't like mornings, she was still sleepy. Her pajama was just shorts and a button-up. But Lissa's shirt was unbuttoned.

Scarlet glances over when she says good morning, taking a couple seconds to actually process what he'd seen before immediately choking on his coffee like the pathetic idiot he is.

Able is turning away, Lilac is screaming.

"LISSA! THATS VULGAR!"

"uh?" Melissa looked at her friend. "Hi Lilac. I didn't had a chance to greet you yesterday."

Lilac pushed her towards her room.

Caine sighed "Scarlet get a hold of yourself..."

"How the fuck would you react if Pomni walked in without a shirt on!?" Scarlet stood up sharply.

"Low blow.... Also fair."

Able, looking between Caine and Scarlet asked. "Since when did you two have separate bodies?"

C&S answered. "Since yesterday."

"Aaaaaaand... since when do our red friend has a thing for Melissa?"

C&S answered. "... since yesterday"

The Blue Pearl

Pearl Town, nestled on the ocean shore, was just beginning to awaken. A man in uniform stepped out of a car and headed toward the police station. He was tall and well-built, and despite his youthful appearance, gray strands peeked through his black hair.

"Good morning, Able," a colleague greeted him inside. The man resembled Able somewhat, but his red hair and radiant smile set them apart.

"Caine. Up and working at the crack of dawn, as always?" Able marked his arrival in the log and headed for the coffee machine.

"Trying to finish my hours early," Caine said, leaning against the doorframe. "By the way, brother, I’ve got some good news to share. Pomni and I are getting married."

Able tensed.

"You mean the ex-thief who helped you on your case two years ago?"

"The key word here is ex," Caine frowned for a moment but then smiled brightly again. "Will you be my best man?"

"It’s about time you settled down. Thirty years old, after all," Able teased, taking a sip of coffee.

"And what about you? Just a year younger than me," Caine laughed heartily.

"I’m the younger brother for a reason!" Able finally managed a small smile, albeit just a corner of his mouth. "By the way, how’s Scarlet? Seen him lately?"

"Stopped by his jewelry store last week. Our nephew is growing up fast. Only five, and he’s already so big."

Able stirred sugar into his coffee thoughtfully. Their younger brother Scarlet, a year younger than Able, already had a child and another on the way. While Scarlet focused on his family, Able and Caine had dedicated most of their time to work. But with Caine now getting married, Able would soon be the only one of the three still single. Not that it bothered him much—he was content on his own, and previous attempts at relationships had been unsuccessful. Maybe it wasn’t so bad; maybe he was just overthinking it.

"Able. Able!" Caine snapped his fingers in front of his brother’s face. "Time to get to work. Finish your coffee and let’s go."

Able took the folder for a new case from his brother's hands. It was about a theft of blue pearls from a local pawn shop. The thief hadn’t been caught on any security cameras entering the shop, but they were briefly seen exiting. The method was reminiscent of only one person’s work.

Reading the file, Able blindly pushed open the door to his office, only to hear a woman’s voice suddenly.

"And how long was I supposed to wait for you?"

The door slammed shut behind him. Able’s face twisted in annoyance. Sitting on his desk was the star of his recent investigations—Lilac, also known as the Violet Lady.

"The theft happened at midnight, and now the sun’s already up," Lilac scolded him as though he were a child.

"You realize I could arrest you for breaking into a police officer’s office, right?"

"Oh, please, I didn’t break in," Lilac jumped to her feet and sashayed toward him, her hips swaying. "The window was open."

"From now on, it’ll stay shut," Able said, glancing at the window handle.

The Violet Lady laughed melodiously. She sauntered up to the officer, adjusting his collar as she did.

"You look good in uniform," she whispered, tracing her fingernail over her lips. "But you’d look even better without it."

"You’d look great in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit," Able whispered back.

"Mmm. I prefer violet, or maybe white with lace," she teased, closing her eyes playfully.

Able was moments away from restraining her for all the crimes she had committed. But before he could, she stepped back and pulled a velvet pouch from her coat pocket, tossing it onto the desk. Out spilled the stolen blue pearls.

"They’re fake," Lilac said, crossing her arms. "Someone beat me to it."

"What do you mean, ‘fake’?" Able picked up one of the pearls and crushed it in his hand. The blue sphere crumbled under the pressure.

"I’m curious who got there before me," Lilac rested her head on his shoulder. "The pearls were delivered to the pawn shop only twelve hours before I took them. Let’s find the newcomer."

"Hold on," Able pushed her away. "What do you mean, let’s? You think I’m going to work with you?"

"Of course you will. I’m your favorite thief," Lilac made a heart shape with her fingers.

"Oh no, Violet Lady. You’re deeply mistaken. I’m not working with you on this case. Under any circumstances."

"Hmm. What if I told you I have information you can’t get?"

"Like what?"

"The forgery is skillful but fragile, meaning they didn’t bother with high-quality materials. What intrigues me is that the pearls were already fake when they arrived at the pawn shop, which means the thief was in a rush. I usually wait and assess the market value, but this time I decided to act quickly. Think about it, darling."

"Thanks for the insight. The police appreciate your cooperation. Now,” Able twirled his handcuffs on his finger, "march to jail."

"Oh, come on," Lilac grimaced.

"Hey, Able! Come here!" Caine called from the other room.

"Looks like you’re busy," Lilac leaned in and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. "See you tonight, my dear Able."

Before Able could react, she leapt out the window. By the time he looked out, she had vanished without a trace.
