Rin Nohara’s presence in Naruto is small and in ever second she has on screen she is a bright light of hope and love.

The only reason people don’t like her? She happened to have a crush on Kakashi.

Here are true facts in life:

1. Love is diverse: Romantic love exist as well as other types of love

2. Love is not a reward system, no one person is obligated to feel the same way

First of all, her main “offense” is confessing to Kakashi after hearing about Obito’s feelings. Referencing #2 she isn’t required to return Obitos feelings. BUT, it’s not like she did this to “rub it in” or “choose to ignore his feelings” even though they where out of the cave they where still surrounded by enemy shinobi. She just witnessed her BEST FRIEND GET CRUSHED IN HALF. Not only that, SHE TRANSPLANTED HIS EYE AS HE WAS DYING. This is her last way of gaining control, let all secrets out, not to disrespect Obito, but to let the team understand each other before death.

Not only that, she had a crush on Kakashi, it’s debatable to call her feelings romantic love. Through watching her reactions in the chunin-exams it’s clear that much of her feelings for him are based off of admiration, after all Kakashi is an insane prodigy. She isn’t afraid to step in when he and Obito are out of line.

Addressing fact #1, RIN TRUELY LOVED OBITO. She was there for him each step of the way. She cared and supported him through everything. Though his failures, achievements and everything in between. Even after her death, even after Obito fell to darkness she kept her eye on him. She’s Obito’s #1 supporter, their for him in life and death. That’s, true love.

Now this is the #1 reason people don’t like Rin Nohara but I do understand people who don’t like her because she feels to much like a plot device. However, I FEEL like it worked specifically in this situation as she represent light and love to Obito not just as a person but as a presence, so when she was gone, the entire world lost that in Obitos eyes. This allowed him to view the darkness in the world and find that it needs to be changed.

I would also like to mention how BRAVE she is. She watched her best friend, her DAY 1 get crushed in half, and then proceeded to do an eye transplant on his request. Keep in mind she litterally FREEBALLED THAT. She had not training in EYE TRANSPLANTS yet she did it perfectly. And then when she noticed Isobu was inside of her without hesitation she knew she had to die. SHES LIKE 12/14 no balls and sent it. THATS INSANE.

Overall, WOMEN IN NARUTO GET WAY TO MUCH HATE

I love details so here are a few of them:

For the poses: Madara is forcing Hashirama to look at him while Sasuke is refusing to look at Naruto. And Kakashi's pose is very unstable, meaning he's trusting Obito not to drop him.

The red accesories are placed where they have hurt each other (Madara's is the red rose).

truly nothing about house md prepares you for wilson. he's fucking insane. he's been divorced three times. he's the only person who can scheme just as well as house. he gives a patient his own liver bc he felt bad for him - a patient who didn't even know wilson's name. btw. he noticed a patient had depression bc he never mentioned his grandkids. he starred in a porno. he dosed house with antidepressants for several weeks. he allowed his boybestie and his gf to share custody of him and didn't even try to stop it. house told him to buy a piece of furniture that represented who he was, and he bought a $4000+ organ for house. he was gonna torpedo his career to talk abt euthanasia bc one of his patients suffered longer than he had to. he let house move into his 1 bed apartment bc his therapist thought it'd be a good idea. this man would do anything for anybody if they let him. he'd fucking quit his job to save a snail off the sidewalk. bro is not normal in the slightest

if house md were running in 2024 there would be an episode with a patient who identifies as an ‘online content creator’ (cagily) where house agrees to take the case primarily because when he offhandedly refers to her as an onlyfans model both cameron and cuddy get really offended and say it’s a sexist assumption so he doubles down and becomes committed to finding the patient’s onlyfans and proving it. at some point it would be revealed that chase actually is an onlyfans model and started doing it as a stopgap after his dad died and he suddenly got disinherited but he makes so much money off it that now medicine is basically just a hobby. cameron and foreman both disagree with the concept online sex work but it turns out they disagree for different reasons (cameron thinks it’s exploitative and not-feminist, foreman finds it distasteful and thinks people should get ‘real jobs’) and spend most of their scenes together arguing about this while chase gets continually more shifty. they break into the patient’s house and there’s a full ringlight and camera setup which seems to confirm house’s suspicions. while trying to find the patient’s onlyfans house accidentally finds chase’s onlyfans instead and considers publicly embarrassing him about it like he did with wilson’s sex tape but soon realises that most of the staff at the hospital are already subscribed to chase’s onlyfans so makes fun of him for that instead. it then transpires that the reason why the patient is so cagey about being a content creator is that she’s an ASMR artist and all the soap she’s been shaving on camera has irritated her lungs. cuddy is about to make house give her 20 extra hours of clinic duty as recompense but at last minute it’s revealed that the website the patient uses for some of her bonus commissions is, drumroll…onlyfans, because she’s been banned from patreon. how does house know this? wilson is subscribed to her because the soap videos sometimes soothe him to sleep. something by cigarettes after sex plays. roll end credits.

Honestly, for me, the best form of consuming shipping media is like I don't necessarily ship the characters, but it's just so tragic/so cute. i feel like we as a society need more kakashi-centric (or even team 7-centric) fics where you have the extremely unreliable narrator obito, who is constantly stalking kakashi. hyperfocusing on every word that comes out of kakashi’s mouth and everyone else being reduced to “naruto said this, or something like that. it doesn’t matter.”

the randomest things setting obito into an internal spiral, and you don’t know what’s going on until he snaps out of it but you’ve still lost a good portion of narration to obito’s internal dialogue/breakdown. you also aren’t sure how long he was spiraling for! you go from gai challenging kakashi and now all of a sudden there are dead squirrels arranged in the shape of a seal and genma is also there juggling senbon.

every other thought about kakashi is fueled by either hate-fueled murderous rage, possessiveness, violent homoerotic thoughts, or a mix of any of those. very gay and very violent. or bloody. half of these thoughts become little violent fantasies.

obito unironically knowing every single one of kakashi’s microexpressions and vocal tones and what they mean, and as a result recognizes things abt kakashi nobody else does. he probably hates when someone else recognizes smth abt kakashi from this.

he also knows the randomest things about kakashi, that can/will randomly pop up at any point in the narration. like kakashi has a secret poetry collection hidden under the sixth floorboard to the right of his bed and northwest of the bedroom window. or a piercing. or even angsty stuff like kakashi trying to rip out his eyes after a nightmare. who knows!

obito’s outward opinion of kakashi constantly flip-flopping between positive and negative, and the quality and genre of narration depends on where his opinion of kakashi is.

obito also hates kakashi’s ninken with a burning passion because they have a better sense of smell than kakashi, which means obito has to stalk from kamui rather than the outside world. watching from kamui isn’t the same because he isn’t on the same physical plane as kakashi.

but yeah i feel like we should abuse obito’s,,, everything. more.

I only had three scenes when thinking of this AU tho, with the idea that Obito became good earlier than in Canon, maybe you are interested?

Kakashi doesn't want to die, not now that he realized that Obito was alive. If he ever took the sharingan out of his eye socket now, maybe, he could have the opportunity of living a few more years, hopefully another decade, another opportunity to start something with Obito.

When Kakashi gets the time to speak with Obito, asking him.if he wanted his eye back, and yet, when he tried to explain that Obito's eye was killing him in a literal sense, Obito interrupts him. He began calling Kakashi off and how dare he thinks he wishes his eye back, and Kakashi deserves the eye.

Kakashi doesn't elaborate further and accepts it, thinking that Obito trully hasn't forgiven him completely for what he did to Rin. With that in mind, Kakashi continues living as if nothing happened.

It's not until the end of the war, Obito survived by a hair and everyone is rescuing the injured and the corpses for a proper burial. Obito sees Kakashi on the ground unconscious, thinking that the moron he is heads over hills, passed out due to chackra exhaustion as he cannot feel his chakra.

By playfully kicking him awake, expecting to see Kakashi frowning or groaning... there is no movement. He kneels over the man and realizes that he is not breathing, and with no pulse.

He doesn't realize he is screaming Kakashi's name until Naruto and Sakura (Sasuke is following but, ya know) arrive at his side and began checking Kakashi's wounds. It was revealed by Sakura that Kakashi only held superficial wounds and a few broken bones... yet when they examined Kakashi's left eye, it was marked by vains and almost red.

It's is then that it is revealed that Kakashi was dead, poisoned by the eye he was gifted for years and years. Obito is stricken by grief, remembering that Kakashi was offering his eye back... and he refused to accept it, poisoning further.

Obito wanted to do so much things after the war, to have a live and find redemption towards the village he used to love, towards the man who he admired and was admired in return... to have options. He thought that by giving him his eye, they'll be connected in ways that it wouldn't be possible, he was blind by the mere idea of Kakashi rejecting that connection with him, that he made him keep it, and now what? Kakashi was dead.

Obito remained in his own world, holding Kakashi like a lifeline, and ignoring how Naruto and Sakura were crying their hearts out, Might Guy and Yamato arriving at the scene only to observe that their dear friend didn't make it... when it was revealed the true reason of his death, it became more crushing.

It was clear that despite Kakashi being a loner, he was loved by his people, the people Obito tried to kill for a delusion.

A part of him, his most selfish and decrepit part of him, wished to take Kakashi away to Kamui, where time didn't pass, where the two of them could be forever. Other part of him was close to take Orochimaru by the hair and drag him to do Edo tensei to Kakashi... but by the looks of it, Kakashi would dislike any of those options. Kakashi loved Konoha, even its ugly parts, he called that place a home, and he would love to rest there.

Obito didn't notice that he was being guided by Naruto and others to Konoha, they tried taking Kakashi's body from him, yet his arms firmly continued carrying Kakashi until it was time to prepare him for the burial. Obito destroyed the sharingan he once sharddnwoth Kakashi, hating the fact that a part of him that was supposednto protect him, did the opposite.

The burial was held on a sunny day, Obito was arrested not long after the ceremony ended. He didn't care, he no longer could have a future with the person he hold dear, not even when Naruto promised him to lesser his sentence.

In the cell where he was held, he only kept thinking of escenarios where he and Kakashi survived and obito served his sentence, but lived a life with Kakashi.

Or he died and Kakashi came back to Konoha without him, but with his students... or both dying... a world where he wasn't crushed by a Boulder and grew up with Kakashi...

A lot of scenarios, multiple what-ifs, things that only happen in his dreams. He was tired and wanted to rest.

After almost a year inside a cell, Obito was granted temporary liberty, under the supervision of an AMBU squad and Yamato. He didn't care. Nor that the people in the street either run away from him, or was berated by other shinobi.

The first place he went to was Kakashi's grave, because what right did he have to visit Rin's or his sensei's grave, he stayed there for hours under the sun until dusk, where his retainers forced him to go back to an apartment with Tenzo.

It became a routine for the next following days.

It stopped however, as the sunny days went by, that Obito began to think how Kakashi must be under too much sun, he would've loved sunny days like this and being under the shadow of a tree. Yes, that's what he needed, that's the least he could provide to Kakashi.

The next morning, Obito was nowhere to be found. It became a frantic search by most shinobis available. It took just a few minutes to Yamato, close to his sempai's grave, a full grown tree layed in there, the only tree in the middle of the grave site. By using mokuton, Yamato asserted the situation with a grimace and reported to the Hokage that Obito was neutralized by his own ability, as he layed underground the tree that mysteriously grew at the cementary.
