Is it not an au already? I made a comic for it, beyond that and the general style I'll be honest I'm not really sure what else to make for the ratbags.

I'm open to ideas but it is a comic I technically finished a year ago and haven't had much inspiration since.

Do you plan on adding the "ninja" part of it? Or are you kinda freestyling from that bit?

They are indeed still ninja. Splinter has a 2003 esq backstory where before he was a class pet he lived in a pond on the Hamato estate. He picked up his ninja skills from there and taught it to the boys.

Thank you! No the bio parents never find out what happened, everyone assumes kidnapping. Everyone who thinks there is something more to it are the kids that were their friends at school aka, April, Raph, Casey and specifically for Donnie Timothy. I do have a draft for a comic that addresses it but I'm not sure I'll ever get around to properly drawing it.

I’m already enjoying rat bags, but I’m curious which iteration is it based on?

No specific iteration since everything's shaken up so I took bits and pieces from canon all over the place.

Splinter is closest to 2003 because that version also started out as a animal. Similar premise but turtle splinter has a different backstory that includes some 2012 elements. The boys I guess are closest to 2012 in dynamic but I'm not trying to follow any canon just taking who they are across the canon and making a new version to fit their situation.

New au Teacup Turtles

The broad strokes are that Hamato Yoshi's wife and child died. In his depressive spiral he went to their old holiday home. Only to find it overrun with creatures mutated by garden chemical seeping into the water.

Aka I wanted to draw something with cottage core vibes and I damn well will.
