I just generally think that if more "mental health advocates" actually experienced institutionalization at a psychiatric facility they would stop advocating for people to be put in them. Far too many of them are actively as bad as asylums "back in the day" and the ones that are better aren't THAT much better. As it turns out, robbing someone who is already going through severe mental distress of their autonomy and shoving them in a place filled with strangers who treat them as a potential threat and are constantly monitoring them is not actually conducive to mental healing.

I'm so sick of the way people will assume that if you're mentally ill every concern of yours must be entirely irrational. Like you can be paranoid AND be in danger. You can have RSD AND be rejected. You can have anxiety AND be in an objectively scary situation. You can be depressed AND be in a genuinely shitty situation. You can have BPD AND experience abandonment. You can be psychotic AND be onto something weird. No mental illness actually makes you immune to the troubles and dangers of the real world that'll touch literally everyone on occasion. Being irrational sometimes absolutely does not mean that ALL of our concerns are ALWAYS irrational and assuming it does honestly puts people in danger

Other transmasc do this too, not just terfs. I've seen passing trans men talk about how dangerous it is to be a man and how you are forced to perform otherwise you get hurt and while there are dangers to being queer, this is all anyone ever talks about when the discussion of transmasculinity comes up.

I'm so tired of this shit, trans men deserve better than being told that when they transition, other men are their enemy. That they can never be themselves for fear of being shunned or killed. Once again, promoting the idea that men are nothing more than violent animals that don't know better than to rape and kill anyone who isn't a man.

Do better. You're filling the community with fear, hopelessness and discouraging those in the closet from ever having the ability to find their people.

When I came out, years ago, the cis men in my vicinity were supportive and welcoming, they were curious and asked a lot of questions, but ultimately didn't mind at all.

Men, especially cis men, are just as capable of being loving, understanding and welcoming like any other human in this world, and it's repulsive that transmascs are being told they'll only be met with violence and hatred when there are men who are excited to gain new brothers.

If you can understand how cis women have power over trans women, how trans women occupy a unique space within the gender binary, you can understand how cis men have power over trans men, trans men occupy a unique space within the gender binary, and how being a trans man is not the same experience as being a cis man.

If you can understand that not all trans women do, can, or want to pass and how much presentation will play into a trans woman's treatment, then you can understand that not all trans men do, can, or want to pass and how much presentation will play into a trans man's treatment.
