The excuses I see people come up with for man-in-dress sight gags being not transmisogynistic are not only ridiculous—often they end up providing paragraphs of backstory and justification that was never shown on screen to not only make it okay, but to make the trans women criticising it somehow transphobic ourselves—but illustrative of just how inconvenient trans women (and the beliefs and opinions many of us hold) are to the modern LGB community.
