Just my ramblings but honestly I just love these blorbos and I really feel as I'm going (as I suspected I would) how much the existence of mainly love, community and friendship changes Dedra's outlook on duty from the get go. It's all love, at the end of the day.

She's still a loyal, smart, determined person, but without the isolation of the Kinderblock the outcome is so different. TBH even doing The Girldads at the same time as this just hammers into me further that the absence of any kind of genuine love since childhood truly does a deep number on her, and in canon only Syril's love had any kind of fighting chance to get her a happier ending, but ofc it ended how it ended.

(I still don't think it had to be too late, and IK I tried fixing this, but anyway.)

It doesn't change her core personality, but it does change her level of devotion to an Empire that isn't truly devoted to its own. The compass needle shifts, you know? Even if it's the same compass.

Anyway tl;dr Andor is a love story, love is everything, love makes the world go round, love x 1000000, all you need is love and I love these two, hope you enjoy this chapter <3

I tend to start and finish my illustrations the same day that I start them, but this one... HOLY SHIT. Five days!! All while doing my uni work between my breaks. This took ALOT of revisions. Gough: But there's two relationships, isn't there, in the show. And so there's Syril and Dedra and there's Bix and Cassian, and Bix and Cassian have had in their lives examples of love, community, loyalty, all of that stuff. And neither of these people come from that. So there's something really interesting about playing, like, what happens when two people who have no skills at any of that stuff? What happens when they're in a room together or in a relationship together? Soller: It shows what the oppressive regime of the Empire does to love, which is to restrict it and restrain it and manipulate it. And Syril and Dedra's love is actually, it's quite intense, but it's strangled by the empire and how they were brought up and the world that they live in. It's really tragic actually at the end of the day. And so in terms of power couple ranking, they're at the top.

Some of you guys would not say half the shit you've said about Dedra Meero if she was a man. (Yes this is about sexism).

The men can be evil and everyone loves them. But gods forbid women do anything, and gods forbid anyone admit to liking evil women without bending over backwards to clarify that they do not subscribe to said evil woman's beliefs and views on society.

Darth Vader can commit heinous crimes against sentience and y'all will go: "woah, so badass with that lightsaber! I love him. He's my precious baby who has never done anything wrong." But if Dedra reluctantly orders "proceed" on a genocide project she never wanted in the first place, y'all suddenly go: "I hope this sick bitch dies a horrible, horrible death," or "I'm not supposed to like her. She's evil and bad and horrible and if I like her that makes me those things too."

Anyway, if Dedra Meero has no fans then I am dead. Be fucked up, queen. You were indoctrinated into the Imperial Machine at the age of 3, babe. You can do no wrong. "But, Hydro, she killed/tortured all those people!" and she looked damn fine doing it! Could have been covered in blood after an interrogation at some point though, I will admit.

they've been having a character elimination on the andor subreddit, and syril was voted off yesterday in 6th place, with dedra today at 5th.

then i saw this comment and obviously had to post it here so i could scream about it w someone omg.

it is really fascinating just how many cis hetero white women who claim to stand for injustice and post instagram pictures of themselves going on marches and protests also end up complaining about policies put in place to support women of colour, the LGBTQ+ community and the Disabled community

Actually, I don’t think I’m ever going to stop being pissy about the fact that we never learned what happened to Blevin. He’s built up in Season 1 as Dedra’s main foil within the ISB; a guy whose competent complacency has been rewarded with six sectors; a guy who follows the rules not because it’s the right thing to do, but because 1. It’s easier than breaking them to solve problems that could otherwise be ignored or passed down to someone of lesser rank, and 2. It’ll get him promoted. He’s close to Dedra’s age, but a big deal is made about her youth while Blevin’s “climbed higher” in comparison and he’s not much older. He’s irritating, and he’s arrogant, and most if not all of his attendants seem to be women which does make me raise my eyebrows, but. He was a central component of the Imperial plot in Season 1, and he’s a massive, unresolved question mark in Season 2.

We don’t see him have a Ferrix-scale failure at the end of the first season, so it’s not likely he was demoted. Yet, he’s not there a year later. Was he promoted out of Partagaz’ office? How would that work, considering Lagret seems of high rank and still reports to Partagaz? Did Blevin transfer to a different sector? Did he quit? Did he die? We don’t know. All we know is that Heert’s sitting in his chair, and while I understand the narrative juiciness of pitting Dedra against her former assistant, it’s sad, to me, that Blevin doesn’t even get a line of dialogue to explain where he went. He has some of the best lines in the show, but he vanishes without a word.

Might be a weird thing to say, but Blevin deserved better. Or… maybe not better, but he deserved something, at least.

To be honest it's really fun considering how Dedra's intelligence and capabilities would have stayed the same or turned out very differently in this timeline. There is so much about her that stays consistent personality-wise even though she hasn't been influenced by the Empire. It's fun to consider...

And of course how things end up with Syril :D :D, and how their emotional arc changes, especially going into Season 2. IDK, I'm excited about it :)
