Evaluation

This was my first project at university, i found that i progressed quickly through it, as i enjoyed the research process and creating ideas. During photoshop lessons i have learnt new techniques and started to develop a understanding in after effects, which i will build on as i progress. I have enjoyed researching storyboard artists and reviewing they techniques and adapting them to suit my project. i found it to push my project ideas forward. The videos and tutorials inspired my final ideas and the exercise reinforced  techniques and belief in myself to create a final project.                                                                                                              As i progress in workshops my work will get stronger allowing me express myself more freely, The first project, i have pushed the boundaries on research, expanding my knowledge in the subject. I found that the animatic helped me learn new skills for example panning and zooming. I found that while using mac book for storyboarding i had to rewire my brain into the new way of using it, as i am normally using a windows laptop. This i feel is accomplishment in itself and will help future projects.                                                                                             If i had the chance to redo any part of the project i would of improve some of my images and smooth out lines. Overall i feel the project went well and that i have improved on the knowledge that i already had.

I have started using premier pro, to link up my frames in sequence to start my animatic. i will continue with premier pro to add music and sound effects  then switch to using AE to add transitions to my animatic.

11/10/17 - Storyboard In progress 

I have started to recreate my storyboard sketches in photoshop. I will create the frames one at a time,  then import the images in sequence into a storyboard layout. I will use the separate frames to create my animatic.

Footsteps Sound Effect (Royalty Free)

I feel that this will help me create the feel of movement and suit the image idea of walking on pavements, due to the hollow audio effect given.

Audience Cheering And Clapping Sound Effect

Ive looked at a number of clapping sound effects, but most lacked substance and excitement, i feel this sound effect produced an excitable emotion and the feeling of achievement i was looking for, as the clapping is accompanied with cheering adding to the heightened experience of winning.

Scary, Creepy Tick Tock Clock Ticking - Free Sound Effects

This clock effect is an amazing sound effect, it has a hollow undertone which i feel adds to the excitement and anticipation of waiting for the trip. It reminds me of a old black and white film/animation which sets the pace of the piece. It helps build and start the pace slowly building up to the fast pace of the track.

Engine Rev Sound Effect

Examples of chosen sound effects. The engine revving will link my scene into the racing part of the action. It helps build momento before the music audio starts.

Sound effects

I will use other sound effects to add extra detail and feel to the animatic, examples of these are walking, clock ticking, engines and cheering. I feel that adding sound effects will bring another layer and diversity to the finished animatic, adding to to emotions i am trying to bring across.

Music for final Animatic

I feel that there was a instant idea came to mind when thinking of the music overlay. I have chosen to use formula ones theme music which is from the track Chain - Fleetwood Mac. This instantly sparks the imagination of racing, excitement and adrenaline. It conjures up images of tracks, fumes, smells and tracks. I feel it will lend itself ideally to my final animatic.

Roughed out sketched storyboard for final piece

I have created my roughed out storyboard thinking very carefully of its content. I have thought of how my day panned out and tried to incorporate it into my idea. I have thought of how each scene could look, whilst thinking of the different transitions that could be experienced to give it more depth. I feel this storyboard will create a exciting final photoshopped version and animatic. I will upload my final storyboard and animatic to a file when submitted.

IRON MAN 3 animatic - Mansion Attack

Here is a much more dramatic animatic, it has more of a visual impact with animation and effects, with dramatic sound effects and music. It conveys the action scenes explosive and serious tones, whilst only using a black and white sketched approach to its design. I will look forward to learning how to create such a powerful style of animatic as i further through the course.
