@nightingalenoon while we certainly agree with those points of reusing props, I'd like to point out the cinematography and framing of both shots. The framing and angles and strikingly similar, along with the context in which they were found. While TBL has been getting jumbled and forgetful with their props and clues, I think this one was, in fact, very intentional. Just food for thought!
But which one is real?

The Blacklist: Now Playing
So The Blacklist has a playlist made all the way back March 28th, 2016 called “Grandpa” containing songs from Sinatra, Cash, Nelson, Cline, and Shelton.
This was during the premier of the Artax Network but my theory is this account is used in the writer’s room so it would have no correlation with the airing episode. But rather they would have been writing the Alexander Kirk episodes… Hmmm
Music means a lot on TBL and now I’m terribly curious about everything. Any conspiracy theories?

Why do you think Dom was a figment of Red's imagination?
Hallucination is the better term. I think Dom is/was real, but is most likely dead or is another manifestation of Red’s subconscious as he comes back to Earth from a really bad trip after Liz’s death.
It all comes down to the timeline and parallels. Parallels to what? Good question…to the previous episode with Katarina (Cape May)! Let’s take a look at a few similarities between the two:
Talking and sharing a meal.

No one else sees them (remember, Aram visited Red, but never saw Dom).
They are both related to Liz, and seeing as she just died…
Playing the piano and haunting tunes (dude, I love pianos but they can be spooky af).

For me, this was Red approaching his past and future in two different ways, but both in the form of a strung out drug-induced hallucination.
Dom = secrets of the past
Katarina = consequences for the future
Plus, the two episodes were back to back. He still hadn’t been back to civilization yet! More reason I think he was still processing his grief through exploration of memories in the form of hallucinations.

The Phantom of The Blacklist a brief summary of character/narrative parallels, archetypes & their broader implications
(This post is not meant to suggest that The Blacklist is a PotO rip-off. There are, however, noticeable similarities between the two stories, and I thought it might be interesting to take a closer look and see what possible conclusions can be drawn from their existence.
Also note that this is basically a comparison post, not a critical piece. Neither PotO, nor TBL are above criticism, especially concerning issues of feminism, but for the sake of my sanity and post length I dispensed with it here.)

Further Additions:
When Romeo think Juliet is dead, he drinks the poison to kill himself than live without her.

So Red nearly killed himself by spending too long in the Opium den, desperate for more, until he was cut off.
This is about as close to suicide I think he could get, unintentional (totally intentional) death by overdose. But they cut that off before it was too late.
Maybe we are getting the ending rewritten.

Romeo & Juliet // Red & Liz
“I think The Blacklist is a love story...I think that at the core of it, the thing that people talk about the most are the relationships that Lizzy has, that she has with Red, that she has with Tom and Ressler, even. The audience that wants her to find a place and find a person that she can rely on. So I think ultimately the payoff, and the only payoff you could see is that she ends up finding that person.” -Megan Boone (x)
I think she’s found that person.
but let’s rewrite the ending

Red’s Past - The Cabal
I look at this scene very differently now after a good break and rewatch.
Focusing on this section right here I’ve found lot of importance for my working theory of Red being a former member of the Cabal. Red talks about his dream of wanting to be a sailor, having never told anyone that before, then Lizzie confronts him on his decision to go into Naval Intelligence instead of becoming a captain. Red simply says “there were spies to run” which gives off the idea that Red chose power (the Cabal) over his dream.
Being a young buck, top of his class, a bright future ahead, he simply couldn’t resist when this powerful shadow organization jumped to bring him into the fold, most likely promising him fortune and power beyond his wildest dreams. In my opinion, this is where Raymond Reddington started to lose his way and walk down a different path. Probably where a lot of his guilt stems (tinfoil warning: most likely why he’ll be #1 on the blacklist)
If you’re really into crazy then my working theory my be interesting. I think Red was a big player in the Cabal, doing dastardly deeds, paying the piper, and then something happened with Constantin, the Fulcrum, Katarina, and a betrayal. The Cabal put the blame of that night of the fire on Red’s shoulders, letting Katarina escape, Constantin die, and the Fulcrum slip between the cracks. Furious they painted a target on his back, effectively forcing him into the life of a fugitive. Thinking Constantin (the original owner if not creator of the fulcrum) was dead, he bluffed that he had the fulcrum in order to keep himself and his family alive.
So looking at this metaphor from this stance (which we all know Red’s metaphors have one meaning in the moment and another when we get more pieces to this very complicated puzzle) it looks like Red is (of course) Odysseus spending years of battle against the Cabal to stay alive lost at sea away from his country and his old life. But his old life, his life not on the run, not looking over his shoulder, is his home. Liz and the fulcrum are the key to finding his way home maybe in more than one way.
Red’s familiarity with the Cabal and intimate knowledge of the players and people (before he’d even had the Fulcrum or had seen it) suggests that he was apart of it. Tinfoil out.

The Blacklist Dating Game: Part 3
“The more @al0velymess and I talked about this one, the more we started researching other ship tags on Tumblr…detoured through Keenler and Resslington for a while. Adding both to my fleet of ships (Lizzington is still the flagship). But then. Our convo derailed. And a new OT3 was born. Seriously, Red/Liz/Ressler, I love the idea of it (do they even have a name?? RLR? Lisslington?)” - @starsaremyocean
We can’t be the only ones who ship Red x Ressler x Liz right? Right? shitpost shitpost shitpost
please I beg you to ask my how I came up with RLR
