Friend is home. The blood clot could take literal MONTHS to clear, so they’re on treatment and having regular Drs appointments to monitor. They’re understandably exhausted because a blood clot in your brain, limiting your blood flow in your body, is extremely draining. Got to visit with them yesterday, which was the first time we’ve hung out in person for almost TWO YEARS bc c0v!d and it was so good to see them properly again!
My very best friend in the whole wide world is in the hospital right now with a blood clot in their brain. And because of their pre-existing chronic illness treating it is not straight-forward and last I heard wasn’t going well and now I haven’t heard from them in almost two days and I’m really scared. Because of covid no visitors are allowed in the hospital and I can’t call the information desk for updates, so I’m relying on hearing updates from my friend but they’re probably fully engaged with being *treated for a blood clot in their brain*, which is completely understandable. But I’m at home absolutely falling apart because I literally don’t know if they’re still alive or not.

I’ve heard from them! They’re doing okay. Have been super nauseous and medicated for the last two days, as I expected, totally understandable. Treatments have not been effective so far but things are holding steady so not better but not worse. Doctors are still working to find a treatment that will help. But such a relief to have heard from friend!

Do you ever think about how staggeringly in bad taste it is that Gandalf brought a firework that turns into Smaug to Bilbo’s birthday party
Like how were you hoping that would go

GUYS I GOT THE FREAKIN JOB.
I WORK AT A MUSEUM NOW!!!
I am VERY ANXIOUS but also need to knuckle down and get some work done for a second round interview I have later this week.
Anyone got any tips for soothing anxiety in a way that still lets me get some stuff done 😬 Procrastinating hasn’t worked so far…

I went for the “panic and cry until you can’t see anymore while frantically text bombing mum, and then stifle it all down again and start researching how the heck to do any of this” method.
So far I’ve filled five post-it notes. Not sure why my panicked brain decided post-its were the best medium but here we are.

Some people on this website learnt the word “trope” and let it settle comfortably into the vocabulary space that should have been occupied by the word “cliché”.
“Trope” is a neutral word. If a particular trope is overused ad nauseam, it becomes a cliché. Saying you hate tropes does not make any sense.
