Dumb brain won... Took it about five years, but it won. So here I am! I will now proceed to babble about Rockman.exe as I was always meant to XD What do you mean I am ten years late to the party?!

Everything related to this account (which is currently just two pieces, as I let "Hidden truth" out of it and I take forever to write anything because ✨English✨ and ✨Finishing projects✨) is put under the pseud Tiny ghost virus (Lil_Pitaya).
As of the recent AI scrapping of AO3, I locked all my stories meaning they can't be read without an account anymore. I didn't want it to come to it, as I know a lot of people don't have an account (or, like me, don't bother to log in), but I will not let hours of work be fed to AI without at least trying to make it harder. I absolutely despise locking my stories, as I hate poisoning art pieces, so I avoid doing it for as long as I can but it has reached the point where I have to do something.
So, to whom it may concern, go and create an account on AO3. I don't remember how long it takes for the request to be accepted (I don't think it took long but that was maybe ten years ago so...), but if closing ourselves is what it takes to protect our works then so be it.
I have two stories that should be published soon (I've been saying that for 2 years about the first one...), and I will post about it here so, even without an account, I'll try to make it easy to at least know there is something.

Master post
After two years (and 4 months...) on my computer, I have finally posted this! Yes, it was written before Connected dots, but I wanted to find a fitting title! Did I find a title during those two years? No. It’s still the name of my gdoc... I just gave up.
When Meiru saw Netto's new navi, she knew he was quite the opposite of what her friend dreamed of. Instead of an imposing colossus, Rockman was but a child their own age trying to navigate a world she wasn't sure he fully understood. On second thought, she was sure he didn't understand it. Navis have their own roles, and he was doing just fine... but a little to the left. And for the umpteenth time, no, navis don't do that. He ought to understand at some point.
Or Meiru notices Rockman is definitely not coded to be a perfect navi, and it could get him in trouble if he doesn't learn.

The bonus panel everyone!
Because Meiru's mom is important in Memory so even though I was scared of really showing her since she doesn't appear in mmbn, and someone needs to aknowledge that outfit in-universe. And Matilda was the one paying for it.
I wanted to draw Roll wearing actual clothes, that's it.
...
And I have to say this does not satisfy me at all. I don't like those clothes but for the sake of the not-even-mentionned scenario I'll have to stick to them in some comics.
Edit: I just noticed I used the wrong signature... Oh well, I changed that

So apparently I'm dead set on making my wrist hurt even more (do not grind laurel leaves with a pestle for three hours), and since some designs in mmbn are... well... Let's just say they need some adjustments to work with my art style. Well, since I need to get my head around how I should draw some characters, I started to adapt the "difficult" ones (so basically any character with too cartoonish body shapes, questionable lips shapes, unexplainable hairstyles... and they are not lacking) to my style :) Because I need to learn at some point
So here's Anetta! Because she's almost never drawn while she could have been such a nice character to explore (be it in game or in the anime, bc really that is the same design but definitely not the same character story-wise)
I color picked her pallet at first, and I was expecting it to be much worse but it turned out surprisingly okay-ish. Especially the color of her lips. I was sure it would be absolutely horrendous.
Though I'm still not sure of what's going on with her hair...

Okay, so... I did Netto :)
And I stuck to his color pallet like glue, because I definitely couldn't work out anything better. Besides, he doesn't strike me as the type of character that would try out different styles like Meiru (who is a girl! So she dresses in the girl aisle! So is it really a fashion statement to get the pretty skirts? idk, it's canon she likes to dress pretty. And I like pretty too)
The last one is more of a netsavior outfit, something more practical for missions (though this design is intended to be for a post-cannon Netto, so who knows if he is currently facing any threat). It's simple and quite close to cannon Netto, but I really like this one. I feel like it suits him aesthetically (but personality-wise, he wouldn't bother to find clothes like that at that age).
I try to give each character a more distinct style than in the games/anime, while sticking to clothes that would be appropriate for teens (did I say those were post-cannon designs? Yes I did) for lack of sticking to the art style…
Yes, yes… I tried getting the orange out a little but.. meh

I actually started playing doll with Netto too, and there is one pose where... Well, let's just say I focused way too much on some details.
The point of those is to sketch something nice without spending hours on it, yet this is somehow turning into anatomy practice with sprinkles.
Where was that ability to draw quite dynamic poses when doing comics??? Where does it come from? Will it stay?
(Will I dare to stray from Netto's canon design?)

In rockman.exe Axess to Beast+, rockman.exe used the soul unison system.
However, there is a slight problem. That being certain forms were omitted.
Although Rockman.exe used MetalSoul, ProtoSoul, WoodSoul, AquaSoul/Cross, NumberSoul, WoodSoul, and Junk Soul from Blue Moon. As well as the fact he used Red sun's souls of SearchSoul, RollSoul, FireSoul, WindSoul, GutSoul and ThunderSoul. So he used all 12 souls of battle network 4. However for Battle Network 5, he only used GyroSoul, SearchSoul, ProtoSoul and NumberSoul. Leaving out the more powerful forms of KnightSoul, MagnetSoul, ShadowSoul, TomaHawk Soul (He used Tomawhawk cross later in beast+), NapalmSoul, ToadSoul, MeddySoul, and ColonelSoul.
And for the last game of 6. He only used Tomahawk Cross and Aqua Cross. He did not use HeatCross, SlashCross, TenguCross, EraseCross, ChargeCross, GroundCross, DustCross and ElecCross.
Meaning he couldn't use their beastcrosses, alongside the fact that he couldn't use their default forms
Do you know of any reason why they couldn't include all 34 forms in the anime? Or do you think it would've just turned into Megaman squad wiping everything?
Sorry for the delay, I was busy trying to get the bank to accept to lend me some money. Apparently, "I pinky swear I can reimburse you in roughly the amount of years I have lived up to this point" is not enough of a good reason for them to give in.
A lot of things happening in-games are not covered by the anime: some not necessarily important (side quests), some impossible to implement (two versions of the same game contradicting with each other, so a choice has to be made), some quite important plot points they somehow though were skippable (why on Earth would they remove the twins being twins??? why???)... and some because they can't cover everything. I am no expert when it comes to how animes are written (my domain of expertise is, ironically, the mechanical properties of rocks… Not mechanics of Rockman) but, when it comes to mmbn, each episode roughly works as a stand-alone while also slowly moving the scenario forward except for climax. Each of them has its own short story within the main story, so introducing those game mechanics asks for the scenario to take time to introduce them one by one (two per episode could work if handled well, but as an exception). Soul unison is used from Axess to Beast, Beast+ being a little different from the previous seasons and having introduced beastcrosses too, so there's 127 episodes (and a movie) to introduce them. If the bible doesn't lie, I counted 23 soul unisons, so about one for 5 episodes, which is perfectly doable.
Except that, according to the wiki (which I'll as all knowing bc it's too late to double check), Stream started airing before the BN5 games so it was probably co-written with Team Protoman and finished months before Team Colonel was… And coincidently, knight soul, shadow soul, tomahawk soul, toad soul and colonel soul are exclusive to this second game 🙂
So either they opted to slow the pace by skipping some soul unisons, couldn't include them because their designs weren't ready or simply didn't want any spoilers. Beast doesn't focus on soul unisons anymore, so while they could have taken some time to include them in this season, the plot wasn't helping (bc Beyondard and Zoanoroids).
As for the cross system, it's only introduced in Beast+ (then again, Beast had other things going on and mastering Beat out was kind of a milestone for that). Which is 21 eps. Of 10 minutes instead of 20. So about 10 episodes of previous seasons. With 10 Beastcrosses, the pace would have probably been even more all over the place than it already was so I doubt they could have included them all (knowing there's also crossfusion, Cache, and probably at least one other plot point that I forgot, yeah…).
But then again, all of that is just a theory, a game theory. So who knows the real reasons?

Man I wish there was more mmbn content here like don't get me wrong I love MMX and classic a bunch too but battle network feels pretty scarce around these parts..
#So true I always wish for more#And then there's so little I settle for actually getting my pen since I can't mindlessly contemplate already made art#I would shoot generative AI on sigh but damn if I don't want to see content about those fictional AI and characters#r

So, two questions.
1.) Do you think rockman.exe found empress roll cute or attractive, or was he just horrified?
2.) Why do the megamen, no matter the universe, always have at least 1-2 girls crushing on them?
Question 1
We already know Rock finds Roll cute, but I think he was a bit too busy taking a beating to even consider whether Roll was looking better than usual or not. Now, in another context like when playing around with fashion chips? He would have probably thought more of it. Maybe that it's a funny outfit, but not really Roll's thing (because she was not herself, and her personality doesn't match with what her evil empress appearance conveys). Probably that she looks nice, because he loves her no matter how she looks.
But based on the opinions of the very opinionated children aged 3 to 11 that I have regularly on hand, designs like that are for bad guys and not attractive at all (sexiness, something clearly intended with Roll-sama's design, is not a thing to them). Then again, one of them is absolutely fascinated by conjoined twins and her sister has decided that almost all boys older than teenagers are ugly because their faces are too square, so maybe the sample isn't very representative... And maybe I should add boys to it too. So according to actual children, Rockman wouldn't find Roll-sama more attractive than Roll. Now, if both of them were older (like, 15 maybe), then that would be another discussion because I am aware of how teens can be :)
(Dub version is also another discussion because they sound older and their characterization is slightly different. In fact, I am tempted to say that, while Rockman wouldn't especially like Roll-sama appearance, Megaman would be more open to it)
Question 2
On top of my head, I'd say ✨shonen rules✨. There is almost always a main girl (who'll make the protag all flustered while being dense as hell to their own feelings, usually introduced first), and side unrequited love interests. Idk, maybe it's attractive to the target audience?
Though, I only remember that trope in Legend (Roll as main, Tron as side), Starforce (Misora as main, Luna as side) and Exe (Roll and Meiru as main, Meddy, Jasmine and Iris to some extent as sides), not in Classic (wasn't there something with Tempo in the comics tho?), X or ZX but then again I am mostly familiar with the firsts.

What do you think of evil empress roll, and do you wish to draw her?
I had to rewatch those eps, it's been a while since I last saw them XD
While corruption tropes are common, I also stupidly love them. It gives you insight to what a character could do were they not bound by their usual morals, and how the very same power they use to do good is not inherently good...which is also exactly why, while loving the trope, I didn't like its execution with Roll.
Don't get me wrong, the devilish look is a bit of fun (those shoulder pads thought? Ew), but it makes no real sense if you consider what is going on (except helping the viewer to know Roll is currently evil). I'd much rather have kept her usual look while only playing with her facial expression, tone and body language. Without the change, I think it would have made for a more interesting turn of events where Meiru may not immediately understand how wrong things are. She also gains new abilities, which hints at who is controlling her, but idk it just feels wrong. Having her use her usual weapons (but keeping the virus summoning because she can do that in-game, and it could have been something she could do all along but never explored because it looked like the kind of ability the bad guys have?), looking her usual self but acting as villain would have shown better that Roll always was a strong opponent but that her strength is also her weakness. She CARES, so she focuses on protecting and healing, and both Meiru and she are not confident in their abilities as fighters. Showing what she was capable of doing would have opened the door for Roll realising that she can most definitely stand her ground, and for Meiru to decide to fight for herself instead of trying to impress her friends because they can do it together (but it's character growth and the show didn't focus on the girls at that time… or ever really. Still thinking it would have been a nice thing to add for them to really grow up until their friends understand that they never needed to be protected).
Besides, that moment when Rock thinks she is back to normal when she's just pretending would have been less obvious. When watching, you could have had doubts because she would look like herself and just maybe she could fight back. With the change in her design, you already know where this is going. They handled Dark Rockman way better on that point.
(Well I kinda want to draw this version of the scene now 🤔)
Design wise, the whip suits hers (I mean, whipping is already something she does) and her mannerisms are on point (her laugh is irritating just like someone who tries too hard to sound evil, Jessie vibes, that checks out), but otherwise I find it quite basic. That is not to say I don't like it, but if I am to draw her, let's just say it would not be for the look (but the tail? mmmh… I may draw her just because I like tails, they add to expressions and movements nicely). Might draw her for the vibe, who knows 🤷♀️

Truth be told, while I was thinking of outfits for Roll I also did Meiru O.O
Turns out it was actually way harder since she already has canon outfits and her color pallet is... hard to work with for me. So I scrapped the blue, added more black and a touch of yellow to go with her family crest (and to go with Roll too, though they wear different shades of pink on their crest).
Side note: this is a post-canon design (hence the dyed hair that are pink and not red, and slightly longer).
(I'd like to do Netto next, but his clothes are iconic and it feels weird to draw him wearing anything else...)
And here are the colors that didn't make it :)

Since I wasn't satisfied with Roll's outfit in my last comic (turned out the main problem was the shade of pink that had too much blue in it and not enough red to fit in with the rest), I decided to try a few outfits for her. Since I wanted to have it make sense in the story, I tried reusing the same pieces because her copyroid is too new to have dozens of outfits. And also because I have to live with my own mistakes and she has to keep her original outfit until the events of "I will protect you" (or whatever the name will be), which has yet to be written or drawn.
And I wanted to try different poses. There's that.
And then there are the other color variations that didn't make it because I wanted only one for each outfit...

Memory AU master post
Since I don't create things in chronological order, here's a little master post for the Memory AU (which is really not exactly an AU, since it mostly just fills the gaps of the anime while also shortening it to what is really necessary but I'm not gonna call it the the Memory filler and a little AU project so anyway)
That way, everything will be easier to find and link together :) And you'll also get to discover the wonderful names of the little strips which were hidden to this day because they were just for me (and I'm not changing them, that's the name of the archived files and that's how I remember them).
PS: all of the written pieces are or will be on AO3, so the links will take you there :) BUT they are or will be locked :( As for the comics, they're on tumblr (and only there)
Past
Welcome back (comic)
Don't poke the program (comic)
(Re)meeting you (comic)
Present (during the event of the anime)
No, navis don't do that (Short story)
Future
Connected dots (short story, 5 chapters)
Incoming: I am a tool (placeholder name?, one shot? I'm currently writing that one so it may come out in five days or in five years idk)
A new world (comic)

I wanted to draw Roll wearing a "human" outfit, so I made a little comic. Which in turn made me unsatisfied with the outfit I designed. So I made a few sketches with a couple other outfits. And I was happy they didn't look too much like the things I own. And then I proceeded to buy clothes that did, in fact, look like that.
I don't know why this keeps on happening...
