Surfer After graduating from Kyoto City University of Arts, he moved to Shikoku island in order to pursue his art work and discovered surfing. There, while striving for harmony with the waves, he found the key to solving his own fundamental question, "What is true happiness?". He then decided to enter a full-fledged spiritual training and spent some time with Hindu ascetics in the Himalayan mountains. Upon returning to Japan, at the age of 28, he received ordination as a Zen monk. After finishing his monastic training, he became the chief priest at Seikenji Temple in 2016.
