Using #throwbackthursday to reminisce my entry for @pickupjazz #tradeitall thang last year. When @thomasluiludwig isn‘t behind the kit playing that badass beat for the likes that include #chakakhan , @jeffbeckofficial , @jossstone and @soehne_mannheims amidst others, he‘s working out. No seriously. I ran into him today at the gym between #soundcheck and #showtime - what an inspiration. In an age as #DIY as ours for musicians, #self-care is not a luxury anymore for those in this for the long haul. As someone who‘s been at the edge of a cliff looking down at a very dark place in a very early phase in his life I can‘t stress how grateful I am to be in the company of such gentlemen who set an example of how fitness and arts do not have to be exclusive to each other. You make me want to be a nicer person, India . Better, good-er. Fearless-er. It’s been so real these past few weeks. From the minute my plane landed and the random dude wanted to pick a fight before either had disembarked right up until the immigration officer a few hours back who felt it needful to keep me waiting for 10 minutes for no apparent reason while I watched him mangle my passport too exhausted to protest after three weeks of being in an environment where hypocrisy, lies and meaningless injustice numb out a billion plus people at such a cellular level that we are actually very close to starting to believe this is who we are. I truly believe we attract most of what we get in life. And try herewith own my shit to attract that what I do.
