A pet for Ota?

Ive had this idea from the beginning of my TMNT VN conceptualizing of giving Ota (the visual novel protagonist and player stand in) a lil pet/animal friend companion they adopt during the story.

But the options have grown and now I'm kinda stuck

Give me some opinions~

in short, 03.

but to give this the response it deserves, read on.

while i grew up with the 2003 series and so am heavily biased towards it, there's something about the dynamics between the 03 turtles that resonates with me and i haven't seen in any other iteration.

03 raph and donnie have such an easy-going + strong relationship. they understand each other, support one another, and you never really see them clash. and obviously, raph is so protective of donnie <3

like seriously look how much raph protects don

although they never get their own episode (damn you nightmares recycled), we do get to see a lot of little interactions between them - from washing dishes together, to playing videogames, to gossiping about others.

more than that, they never seem to disagree or argue with each other specifically. the most we ever get is sass, for example when raph calls don 'cranky' or in aliens among us after don nearly got them crushed by the ufo. they both tease mikey, and they both get mad at leo at the start of s4.

i could speak a lot about their relationship in s4, i've actually been thinking about writing some meta for years now. with leo's ptsd, raph and don either unconsciously or knowingly step up and take on more leadership?? there's a definite shift in their roles but they seem to do it together so maybe it's something they spoke about. they also seem to be in each others vicinity a lot more just hanging out quietly. like they needed the peace that only each other could provide. idk. there's definitely a change.
