Hey, man, c'mere. Listen. Get in real close, this is important.
You're gonna make stuff again. You're gonna make stuff you're proud of. You're gonna make stuff you're excited to share. You're going to feel that overwhelming drive to create, not just the frantic I want to want to you're stuck in now. You're going to have awesome ideas, and you're going to make them into reality. You're going to create again. You're still an artist. You're still a writer. You're still home to the same passion you had before. You'll find it again. It's not gone. It's just resting. Let it rest. You're going to make stuff again. I promise.

Andrew being a goal keeper was quite literally the peak of character building in the entire literature history.
wdym he is THE protector of the team during a game? he is THE last line of defense? he has EVERYONE鈥檚 back? and he is AMAZING AT IT?!
and not just in the metaphorical sense (although as establish that too) but down to a literal physical level too. like? oh my god of course the character with the best reflexes that won鈥檛 let a ball past him is the character that grew up abused and constantly aware of his surroundings. and of courseeee the character that has issues with being touched and struggles to protect himself from abusers is the one wearing the most padding on the court.
nora you own my heart

Shonen authors writing a hetero romance: They bicker... But... They KISS?!?!?! Revolutionary.
Shonen authors writing two male "best friends": They are friends, partners, family. They complete each-other. They've been together for so long it's hard to tell where one ends and the other begins, and they know each-other so intimately that they can predict every action the other will take. They're opposites and yet they go together like a pair of gloves, they're yin and yang, they fill each-other's weaknesses and boost each-other's strength. They wouldn't be alive without one another, they wouldn't want to be alive without one another. Even when they're on different paths, they trust each-other blindly. Even as enemies they are willing to put their lives in each-other's hands. Their life goals involve one-another, all the roads in their life lead to their partner. A part of one will always be with the other, no matter how far apart the fates carry them.

Piggybacking off of this exact scenario to say it's often a plot point in "guy with super speed" media for there to be a drawback off the power that they use up a loooooot of energy and calories using the super speed and therfore need to eat a lot in order to not simply run out off fuel so to speak.
A scrawny guy ordering and packing away enough food for four people in a restaurant is gonna garner attention in a way that people just sort of expect that of anyone they deem "plus size". So, in addition to meaning they Already have more reserves for their power to feed on, it will maintain their cover a lot better to be fat in that scenario. No one will blink twice at you earing a lot and no one would expect that kind of speed or athleticism from someone they assume is "too fat and lazy" to run at normal speeds much less super ones.
Plus. Momentum is a thing. Depending on how "realistic" the physics is in this already unrealistic superhero narrative, the added weight will probably make you more of a wrecking ball and therfore more of a threat to the bad guys than speed alone.
Anyone whose ever watched or participated in any sort of track and field event would know that while "aerodynamics" are somewhat of a factor in things, the difference is negligible when you have the muscles to power through the wind resistance. You could be a bullet or a cannonball; bullet is naturally faster, but cannonballs gonna do way more damage. And when paired with "its literally a superpower, we're already breaking the rules of physics, who cares" I don't think the argument of wind resistance or aerodynamics being an issues with a wider frame really holds much weight (pun not intended).
Really, a fat person with super speed just helps eliminate or lessen a lot of the drawbacks of having super speed while also making it even more of a threat. So they should probably all be like that.
Same with super strength since they are often depicted as having similar "calorie upkeep" needs and because it'll be a lot more "believable" as a cover story to the general public if a big dude lifts a car in an emergency because of "adrenaline" or whatever than if some scrawny tech bro does.
TL:DR make more superheroes fat. It does make perfect sense actually. You're just fat phobic and value aesthetics over practicality while claiming the opposite.
I think the weirdest form of fatphobia I keep bumping into is writers suddenly becoming deeply concerned with physical realism when a fat character is involved even in contexts where everybody's physical capabilities are explicitly bullshit. "They're fat, it wouldn't make sense for them to have super speed" and it would make sense for the 98-pound twink to be able to run at Mach Fuck? That's something skinny people can do in real life, is it?

You should get an AO3 account
With the rise of AI and the well known epidemic of AI companies scraping Ao3 for training data most authors on Ao3 have locked down their fics to logged in users only. This is unfortunate for authors and readers. As an author I've noticed a steep drop in readership on fics restricted to logged in users and when recommending fics to my friends I've noticed that the folks without an account can't find the fics. The logged in users only toggle, not only keeps people without an account from reading a fic, but also from seeing its listing at all. More than 50% of fics I come across have this setting turned on. So, you should get an AO3 account. I know this seems daunting and unfair because it's an invite only system but, you can invite yourself through the homepage if you don't already have one, and in the past few years I've never heard of someone who requested an invitation through this method, not getting one. And for those of you who are hesitant because you don't write, that's okay. It's not weird at all to click on a commenter username and find that they have 0 works and 10,000 bookmarks. It might take a week for the invitation to actually show up, but I can almost guarantee you will get one, just keep an eye on your email. It's free to join and donations are optional. You'll have more to read if you have an account and maybe give your favorite author the chance to protect their work from AI without a loss of readership and feedback.

Coach Rhemann trying his best to support Jean but also trying to figure out if some oddities are result of:
abuse from his time in the nest
a French thing
just his personality
Coach Wymack is the only one he knows with experience of helping a former Raven de-transition from the Nest so he'll occasionally call Wymack and give a vague statement to try to see if Wymack has dealt with this with Kevin, while not giving too much away in case it's just a Jean thing.
-
Rhemann: So... some of my kids decided to take classes together, really stick to a buddy system sort of deal
Wymack: Yeah. It's a thing. Kevin's gotten better but he still gets anxious if he's alone.
-
Rhemann: Some of my players are really excelling in language arts. Which is great for their grades, but their imaginative descriptions really toe the line between feedback and a yellow card.
Wymack: Jean, right? Kid speaks three languages that I know of and I think he's most adept at insults in all of them. He had more than a few choice words for me and my team when he was out here.
-
Rhemann: A good thing about California is that it hardly ever rains.
Wymack: That's a good thing? Thought you guys were dealing with a drought.
Rhemann: Yeah, but sunshine and good weather most of the year. People don't have to worry about slick roads or getting wet.
Wymack: I guess?
Rhemann: Water.
Wymack: Hmm, yeah, not sure where you're getting at with this one. Whatever it is, I don't think mine had it.

One of my biggest pet peeves in TV shows and movies is when characters go to a restaurant, (usually a diner) order food, take maybe two bites (if that) out of there full 3 course meal, and then leave without even packing the leftovers simply because the conversation they came there for is over??? The waste yall, the waste.
people in books and tv shows are always getting so upset they throw an untouched meal in the trash. that would never be me. i'd receive the worst news of my life and still be like Let me put this in the fridge.
#bones did this a lot#but pretty much all procrdural type shows do this too#house md did this a lot too i think#its worse when they do this frequently in a show cause its like#you should know by now to order less or just meet somewhere other then a diner if yoi dont plan to eat#food waste#unsustainable

Neil and Andrew seeing that Kevin covered his tattoo, getting ecstatic about it and then making out is for me the most Kandreil moment in canon
I swear, if Kevin wasnt drunk as hell, both Andrew and Neil would make out with him at that point
Like, those are quotes from the book:
-"Neil's whole body felt on fire, he couldn't remember the last time he was so excited about something"
And
-"Andrew smiled from beside Neil, it was the first time he smiled since coming off the drugs"
Hello?????? This is all towards Kevin and it is so fucking gay. They both looked like they were about to kiss Day right there, and I will die on this hill

Another reason Aaron despises Neil is that he probably thought that they were becoming "friendly"
Due to his and Andrew's deal, Aaron could only have family, no friends. That was Andrew and Nicky, then expanded to include Kevin, and then the next year included Neil (even added to the family phone plan).
Neil hangs out with the monsters; sits with them, goes shopping with them, goes to Eden's with them, etc. Aaron got a list of single Vixen's for Neil to try to help this odd kid out socially. They looked out for Andrew together; Neil kicked down the door and Aaron killed Drake. Neil didn't tell Andrew about Katelyn like Aaron asked. They bonded a little over not telling Dobson anything.
Aaron, who had a lifetime of bad friends who used him to then no friends only family, thought he and Neil were becoming buddies or something.
And then Neil used him. He meddled with Aaron's relationship with Katelyn for his own gain. Yes, Neil's meddling got Andrew and Aaron in therapy together and started talking to each other, but Neil still used him.
That betrayal had to hurt.

For anyone who may be interested in that sort of thing, I started streaming on twitch recently. I'm still kinda getting my bearings and learning how it all works, but I'm starting up my own challenge in the Sims 4 now that I've built the house and my matriarch in my first two streams, so come check it out sometime. I'd really appreciate it 馃挅
