We have changed so much since we hiked together on the AT back in 2014! We were such newbs! 🤣 Toasts’ Osprey pack was waaaay too big both in capacity & in torso size! & I had only recently given up on makeup in this picture.. I threw it all in the trash in some motel. Haven’t barely worn any since! We love how much the AT changed us for the best! & everyday we work towards the ultimate goal together... making just enough money to get by on the minimums by doing what we love & staying plugged into the hiking community that’s been imprinted on us. New & wonderful things to share soon! Lake Aloha on the Tahoe Rim Trail.. this place was absolutely stunning! If you wanted to see it on a day hike, you could... or turn it into a fun overnighter! It’s about 6 miles hike into the lake from Echo Chalet. It’s a bit of a climb, but gradual & very worth it! The hike out would be very fast as it’s mostly downhill & small coasters. The first 2.5 miles of the trail skirts up the side of a mountain & follows the length of Each Lakes (upper & lower). Then it pops up & over a granite peak & into the woods towards lake Aloha. The water levels are extremely low this year along the TRT, but it’s still well worth a visit & extremely beautiful! This section of the Tahoe Rim Trail is also the Pacific Crest Trail. • • • Our stay at Aloha was epic but very windy! Tent life with a 4 month old! Finley loves the tent btw... we were in it from 7pm to 7am due to extremely high winds (about 40 mph) & she enjoyed every moment of it. Even when the winds were pushing the tent sides in & it seemed like the tent would snap... she just smiled & giggled. When the fabric on the tent & the extra guylines made the strangest hard core flapping noises we’ve never heard before... she slept like a baby & didn’t seem to mind. I thought she may get restless & want to get up to move around, but nope! She was the perfect hiker! She passed right out & rest up for the next day’s hike! Having this family time alone with just us 3 has been an absolute delight! We are so thankful to share these memories with her!
