Please join us in putting together a free, digital cookbook fanzine with recipes, fanfic, meta/trivia, and fanart inspired by the food of The Owl House! This includes foods/drinks specifically mentioned/shown in canon, recipes inspired by the Boiling Isles/Demon Realm, and Dominican and Puerto Rican cuisine. We are planning to release our first volume on the third anniversary of Thanks to Them — October 15, 2025.

If you would like to participate, please fill out our non-binding sign up form. We will accept all contributions that meet our content restrictions and are submitted on time.

June 5: Mod applications open

June 14: General sign-ups and Discord server open; Can begin discussing zine details in appropriate channels

June 22: Mod applications close

June 29: Announcement of mod team

July 15: First Check-in (optional)

August 15: Second Check-in (optional)

September 1: Third Check-in (strongly recommended)

September 7: Recipes must be in final testing phase and writers should be connected with beta readers

September 15: Fourth Check-in (strongly recommended)

September 28: Final submission date for Volume I

October 15: Release of Volume I

It's gonna be a free digital download, which means more size freedom on the art and more relaxed creative fun!

Thanks so much for the signal boost!!!

Since this cookbook is free and digital, like the @vee-fanzine, we don't have the same caps on participants that a print zine usually does. As long as submissions meet the criteria (The Owl House & food-related, no gen AI, only rated G and T fanworks for the main zine, etc) and make it in by the deadline, we plan on including them. There's no penalty for filling out the interest form but not submitting a recipe/fanwork on time for this volume.

Even if people are unable to contribute/take on a role, they're still welcome to hang out in the Discord to brainstorm recipe/fanwork ideas, make bread puns, and chat.

We want the cookbook to happen, but want it to be as fun and low stress as possible. :)

I bought my copy of The Joy of Cooking in the late 90s--it was a new print at the time, but the latest copyright in it is 1975, so it has a noticeable amount of old culture holdovers.
