okay so if you need more veggies/fruit, protein or fibre (bc most people do NOT eat enough) in your diet but you struggle to do so, hear me out:
look up recipes (especially snack recipes) that are child/toddler/baby-friendly
i can guarantee there is a woman with a cooking blog out there who has found away to pack a bunch of vegetables into a surprisingly delicious little snack for her kids. this process has never failed me when i feel like i am not eating enough fruits and veggies. my entire flat is eating spinach muffins at the moment, which doesn’t sounding particularly appealing to most people and yet somehow. they’re delicious.

something you don't learn until you get really far into the making and tinkering life is that there's no such thing as "glue" really. there are so many kinds of substances that stick other substances together and they are all very different and if you just go look at the adhesives aisle in the hardware store the packaging never actually tells you anything useful. it's like "this is SUPER T-REX POWER GLUE" and the fine print says "good for use on wood metal and plastic". okay. but WHICH PLASTICS MY GOOD BITCH,
because SURPRISE, there's no such thing as "plastic" either. every kind of wood is basically the same on a chemical level, but the only thing every plastic has in common is "some of its molecules are long" and that is NOT a quality that determines how things stick together.
I just ordered some stuff I hope will permanently stick a circuit board to a steel sheet and withstand temperatures up to 150 degrees. by the way circuit boards are made of epoxy-bound woven glass cloth which is cool as hell but what the fuck do you glue that with? can any of the 12 kinds of adhesives I currently own do that? no of course not. if I want to stick two pieces of acrylic together so hard they become watertight to a depth of 3000 metres I have some shit that does that, but it does literally nothing else.
anyway. once you start learning how many kinds of sticking things together there are, the people at 3M start to seem like witches and I don't know if they're the kind we can trust with that level of arcane knowledge

best piece of life advice when you want to change a bad habit: you cant remove something without replacing it. otherwise, you'll leave a hole that needs filled.
you want to distance yourself from that friend and interact less frequently? get closer with other friends, and talk with them more.
you want to drink less gatorade/soda? start drinking more water or tea.
you want to play less video games? play more card or board games.
you want to eat less junk food? cook more home meals or go to better restaurants where you can.
energy cant be created or destroyed, and that applies to your habits too.

some various tips and tricks for this saturday:
- wear shoes you can run in, such as tennis shoes
- it’s summer, bring bottled water and liquid IVs for your fellow man if you can
- you don’t have to be a martyr. bolting when you can means you can protest another day
- bike helmets will stop less lethal rounds
- laser pointers can temporarily blind human beings and screw with cameras
- there are foldable box cutters you can fit in a small pocket. i heavily do not recommend actually stabbing anyone, however you can use these to slash tires
- please at least get familiar with CPR. reminder that it’s okay to break ribs if you keep them alive
- do not wear anything with logos or anything traceable. preferably wear all black but if not wear something incredibly generic. if you have an uncommon hair color, cover it
- if you feel your group is being kettled, split into a smaller group and get away from the cops
- don’t bring your phone
- i’ve heard rumors of a potential internet blackout. i severely doubt that’s gonna happen but prepare just in case for that possibility
- don’t bring your kids please
- don’t tell the internet you’re going to a protest
- if you have pets, prepare for the possibility you will not be coming home

one of the most depressing things to explain to people just starting transition is that there's a 60/40 chance their doctors are either genuinely ignorant about their care needs or else they genuinely want their trans patients to go on a menopause crash-out dose so they go insane from imbalanced hormone levels, think "transitioning is actually making me worse and unhappier," and quit. and both of these doctors will prescribe you 150mg spiro and 1mg oral estradiol and say things like "most transgender women actually prefer to not use progesterone supplements"

Mobility Aid Encyclopedia
It's done!!
I have made a resource to help other disabled people determine which mobility aid may be right for them. This guide is long and includes different aids, what they're used for, how to use them safely, and where to purchase them.
If you've been considering using a mobility aid, I urge you to do the proper research, my guide is not all-extensive, but it is a good place to start.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. I can not diagnose you with anything or prescribe you anything. I fully encourage that you speak with a doctor before beginning use of any mobility aid. I am, however, aware that this is not always an option. If you choose to use a mobility aid without consulting a professional, I am not responsible for any injury that may occur.
And now, here's the guide!

Support Education in Gaza
Among the famine and the massacres, education is one of the overlooked basic rights that Gazans are being denied right now.
Isnad @isnadfoundation is working hard to provide study rooms, stationery, internet access, and power supply to 30 college students to be able to pursue their degrees remotely, and have been going strong for two months now. ♥️
This month's (May) rent was only collected at the last minute, and only because of the generosity of a donation that covered the remainder in the nick of time.
In order not to run into this same problem every end of the month, we need to start collecting next month's rent money as early as possible to be safe. Thirty students' futures are counting on it!
Mahmoud @ma7moudgaza2 has designed this printable flyer with the campaign link in it. If you could print it, put it up in public spaces, hopefully on your campus or other study places, it would mean the world.
Tumblr media
If you can't print it, it would be wonderful to share this post around so that others who can may find it. If you're able to donate please consider donating.

Recognizing emotionally mature people
Taken from Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents by Lindsay C. Gibson, Psy.D. A summary of the tips the book hands you on how to recognize emotionally healthy people.
They’re realistic and reliable
They work with reality rather than fighting it. They see problems and try to fix them, instead of overreacting with a fixation on how things should be.
They can feel and think at the same time. The ability to think even when upset makes an emotionally mature person someone you can reason with. They don’t lose their ability to see another perspective just because they aren’t getting what they want.
Their consistency makes them reliable. Because they have an integrated sense of self, they usually won’t surprise you with unexpected inconsistencies.
They don’t take everything personally. They can laugh at themselves and their foibles. They’re realistic enough to not feel unloved just because you made a mistake.
They’re respectful and reciprocal
They respect your boundaries. They’re looking for connection and closeness, not intrusion, control or enmeshment. They respect your individuality and that others have the final say on what their motivations are. They may tell you how they feel about what you did, but they don’t pretend to know you better than you know yourself.
They give back. They don’t like taking advantage of people, nor do they like the feeling of being used.
They are flexible and compromise well. Because collaborative, mature people don’t have an agenda to win at all costs, you won’t feel like you’re being taken advantage of. Compromise doesn’t mean mutual sacrifice; it means a mutual balancing of desires. They care about how you feel and don’t want to leave you feeling unsatisfied.
They’re even-tempered. They don’t sulk or pout for long periods of time or make you walk on eggshells. When angered, they will usually tell you what’s wrong and ask you to do things differently. They’re willing to take the initiative to bring conflict to a close.
They are willing to be influenced. They don’t feel threatened when other people see things differently, nor are they afraid of seeming weak if they don’t know something. They may not agree, but they’ll try to understand your point of view.
They’re truthful. They understand why you’re upset if they lie or give you a false impression.
They apologize and make amends. They want to be responsible for their own behavior and are willing to apologize when needed.
They’re responsive
Their empathy makes you feel safe. Along with self-awareness, empathy is the soul of emotional intelligence.
They make you feel seen and understood. Their behavior reflects their desire to really get to know you, rather than looking for you to mirror them. They aren’t afraid of your emotions and don’t tell you that you should be feeling some other way.
They like to comfort and be comforted. They are sympathetic and know how crucial friendly support can be.
They reflect on their actions and try to change. They clearly understand how people affect each other emotionally. They take you seriously if you tell them about a behavior of theirs that makes you uncomfortable. They’ll remain aware of the issue and demonstrate follow-through in their attempts to change.
They can laugh and be playful. Laughter is a form of egalitarian play between people and reflects an ability to relinquish control and follow someone else’s lead.
They’re enjoyable to be around. They aren’t always happy, but for the most part they seem able to generate their own good feelings and enjoy life.

Okay I JUST realized I never posted these on here—- BUT BASICALLY, about a year and a half ago I started doing these experimental black hairstyle posts that were threads long on Twitter, to give artists a source of inspo for their black ocs whose hair they wanted to try something new with! There’s more to black hair than just the selected styles portrayed in media, and I thought it would be fun to show people how much texture, shape, fades, length, and style can be combined when drawing black hair—-cause it’s a kind of manipulation our hair can do irl! The OG posts were lost with the hacking of my original Twitter account (@/bagels_donuts) but I’ve since reuploaded the whole thread to my new Twitter (@/ItsDonutsFR)! I hope artists on tumblr find these useful, sorry it took me so long to post them here😭🙏🏾 I’ll upload them all in parts!

simple little ref sheet guide with some tips relevant for any amount of detail! With Art Fight season around the corner they're some good things to keep in mind :)
other miscellaneous tips
if your character has detailed markings that need to be accurate (like tattoos), place the reference for it on a rectangular transparent section so it can be selected easily for copy/paste!
if your reference is for art purposes, try to keep it relevant to art! lore can help, but a lot of backstory text can make it difficult to tell what's important when drawing them
important things to include as written details are heights, weights / body types, pointing out any intentionally unusual proportions, and other things that may be interpreted as an art style (or that your reference may not accurately convey)!
if you can't draw something the way you want others to draw it, you can just insert other photos / screencaps for others to reference!
always have a SFW version. not one with censor blocks over the bits, I mean one that doesn't have the bits out at all. put some underwear on that beast. it's common courtesy.
ADD ALT TEXT. write a description of your character! bullet point lists of succinct traits are clearest for artists to work with when commissioned. having both a written and visual reference makes it possible to verify things

Talking to my Black and brown trans sisters, I heard regrets. Some felt their surgeons had made them more womanly in ways that echoed whiteness: smaller noses, pointed chins, almond-shaped eyes. I wondered, what does femininity look like outside of whiteness?

really good tiktok
Transcript:
Girl, just do it fat. Don’t wait until you’ve lost enough weight. You’re worthy of taking up the space that you fill. Live your life now. Don’t wait for some future version of yourself that you think will be more deserving. You have every right to pursue your passions and dreams just as you are today. Your worth isn’t tied to a number on a scale or the size of your clothes; it is inherent in who you are. You’re allowed to be seen, heard, and celebrated in whatever body you inhabit right now. Don’t let anyone or anything convince you for too long. So go out. Do it fat! Wear the clothes you love, pursue the opportunities that excite you, and live unapologetically. There’s no reason to put off living the life that you want, waiting for a moment that you’re not even sure will come. You deserve to be happy and fulfilled just as you are, and the world needs you exactly as you are today. Everything good that has ever happened to you, happened in this body. Girl, just do it fat.
