Pride is more than just a parade. It’s taking the time to acknowledge those who gave their lives for LGBTQ+ rights, those who continue the fight for equality, and to let those who are not out or live in places where’s it’s not safe to be out that they are not alone. They have allies and a community here for them. Happy Loving Day!!!! #Repost @t4vista with @make_repost ・・・ Today, June 12th is Loving Day! ⁣ The day is named for the monumental Supreme Court case of Loving v. Virginia. The interracial couple at the center of the case was Richard and Mildred Loving. The two were arrested for unlawful cohabitation and told to leave the state or they would remain in jail.⁣ ⁣ The couple decided to leave and Mildred Loving decided to write a letter to the Attorney General at the time, Robert F. Kennedy and a lawyer from the ACLU took their case. The first time I heard this song was when my Uncle Glenn babysat my sister Dela, my cousin, Cedrick and me. He would play music and this song never made sense to me. “How can someone make you real?” I asked. Uncle Glenn responded, “When you are older you will meet someone who will make you understand what this song is about.” Well...I now understand what Uncle Glenn meant.
