Books Read in 2024:
1. Demon Copperhead (5/5) (Jan 5): I love it so much I cannot express it in words. This is exactly the kind of book I like where the author follows the story of many characters in tbe same town(or alternatively follows multiple generations of the same family). Makes me want to read the original Dickens David copperfild.
2. Romantic Comedy (3/5) (Feb 23): Nice easy read. got annoying as it progressed. The girl became exactly the kind of person she hated in romcoms. But it was sweet. And it got me out a reading slump so I’m greatful.
3. Elinor Oliphant is completely fine (100/5) (March 3): one of the best contemporary novels I’ve ever read. Love how this book tackles very relevant and emotionally heavy issues (loneliness, childhood trauma, etc..) while maintaining a sense of humor. The main character is so flawed yet loveable. Great balance, great pacing, great characters, and — my favorite thing is see in books— good moral message. Lovely.
4. Pachinko (5/5) (April 25): loved all the different characters. Very relatable depiction of the emotional conflict of being culturally one nationality and ethnically a different one — especially when neither society seem to fully accept you// you don’t feel fully part of either. (Audiobook)
5. Yes, Daddy (100/5) (June 15): omg I was not prepared for this book. So raw and real. Difficult topic but so important. I’m so glad I read this.
6. Boyfriend Material (5/5) (June 17): ahhhhhh. Yes. This is how you do romcom!!! So light but also has depth. Well developed characters who are refreshing but also relatable. This book actually made me feel things. Had be giggling and kicking my feet and talking aloud to myself. Love!
7. The Dutch house (4/5) (August 5): listened to audiobook. Very enjoyable. Excellent characters.
8. Saint (Simone sierra) (5/5) (August 11): beautiful love story. But not just romantic love— it’s about learning to love yourself too. Picked up this book at a perfect time because I had been interested in joining a monastery/convent. But I also have complicated feelings about god so I really relate to the main character. Steamier than I thought but I’m not complaining. Great ending. Heartwarming and just lovely.
9. The darkness outside us (august 25) (6/5) omg it was so goood. What a unique and compelling plot. Definitely one of the best YA books I have ever read. Romance is so cute but so real. Made me go ahhhh and giggle and feel sad and conflicted throughout the book. Excellent read. Perfect to get out of a slump. Great for teenagers. This is what YA books should be. 10/10 would recommend to almost everyone.
10. The charm offensive (5/5): cute, sweet. Good to get out of a reading funk or when you just want to read something simple and sweet.
