Suzuki intruder 150 is a cruiser model motorcycle manufactured by the Japanese company Suzuki, especially for the India two-wheeler market. The plan for the 150cc intruder is to capture the cruiser model motorcycles gaining enhanced interest among the Indian riders and to initiate with the cruiser model motorcycles. Whether the, Suzuki Intruder 150cc going to take the market or going to stand aside as one of the cruiser model is the core of the game.

Outlook and design

The Suzuki Intruder 150 is the one cruiser motorcycle of the 150cc segment, that looks absolutely gorgeous and also offers the best touring style. Each and every part of the motorcycle is one the iconic job done by the Suzuki engineers.

The motorcycle parts from the tip to tail hails the bigger Intruder 1800, however, manages to retain the level of the 150cc segment. The fit and finish of the motorcycle are really a keen job by the Suzuki engineers, that the motorcycle does not miss any of the elements to get the feel of the bigger Intruder 1800.

The headlight set of the Intruder 150 just resembles its bigger Intruder bike. The headlight is a curvy triangle with an elongated light system attached to the speedometer simply looks great.

The speedometer set is claimed to be like the unit of a scooter, but still matches well with the overall design of the Intruder 150.  A small visor covers the speedometer and the indicators are well placed.

The ignition port of the bike is kept way too front, behind the visor, that some short rider might fall stretchy for the reach of keys.

The noticeable unit on the Suzuki Intruder 150 is the large shaped fuel tank which has the capacity of 11 liters. The tank holds the Suzuki emblem and just below is the Intruder title. The bike has the large shrouds on either side with the striped design.

Both the fenders are well designed to match the cruiser theme of the motorcycle and the sidewise is the dual port exhaust which is a classic ornament for the motorcycle and offers improved exhausting.

The rear end of the Suzuki intruder 150 looks like the back of Hayabusa to an extend and the danger LED lights are perfectly placed.

The split seat set design with a separated model for the rider and pillion is the best thing for this 150cc Intruder.

The alloy wheels are the same that is seen on the 150cc Gixxer, which may have changed to get more appealing design, where Suzuki missed.

Even the small engine cover of the Suzuki Intruder 150 is carefully designed to match the Cruiser theme is appreciable.

One of the major flaw for the Suzuki Intruder 150cc bike is the missing wider tyre. The appearance of the Intruder may have got a bigger bike appearance, in case if the tyres were designed to be broader.

There are more that fifteen plastic parts on the body of the Intruder 150, which may invite some rattling problem or breakage replacement problem in the future.

With all, the Suzuki Intruder 150 price is maintained to INR.104562 (Ex-show room price Chennai) is appreciable.

Engine and gearbox

Suzuki Intruder 150 is powered by the 154.9cc, single cylinder, air cooled 4 stroke engine, capable of generating 14.6 BHP@8000 rpm of maximum power and 14 NM@6000 rpm of peak torque. The engine is connected to the same 5 speed gear box for the gear shifting. 

The gaseous exchange is managed by the Single OverHead Cam (SOHC) with a 2-valve system. The speed of 60-70 kmph is easily reached on smoother acceleration.

The engine noise and the performance of the Intruder 150 are same as compared to the Suzuki Gixxer and the mileage is of the intruder continues the same of 40-45 Kmpl. The top speed also remains almost the same.

Forks and tyres

To make the Intruder 150 in the comfortable position, the suspension is made easy with the 41mm telescopic forks at the front and the rear side is the monoshock unit attached to the swingarm. The wheelbase of the of the Intruder is extended to manage the comfortable seating position for the long rides.

Gripping the intruder 150cc on the road is the MRF tyres measuring 100/80-R17 in front and 140/60-R17 MRF on the rear. But, the tyres look thin for the fatty appearance of this motorcycle.

Brake

The braking power of the Suzuki Intruder 150 gets the same units that are familiar with the other Suzuki motorcycles. The measurement of the brakes is 266 mm at the front and 240 mm in the rear, which helps in speed reduction.

Both the front and back units use the single disk set up as a standard model, while the ABS is also available in the Intruder 150cc variant.

The Suzuki Intruder 150 colours are made in two tone variants. The Metallic OORT Gray/metallic matte black (AH2) and the Glass sparkle black/ metallic matte titanium silver are currently available.

When comes to engine, the bike will have 313cc single-cylinder engine, which will give around 34bhp of power and 28Nm torque, not only will it have a 6-speed gearbox. Matte Red Colour TVS Apache RTR 160 and 180 launched

TVS Apache RTR 160 and 180 Matte Red

TVS has launched its Apache 160 and 180 cc motorcycles in a matte red colour version, while the Apache 200cc has been already available in the mentioned matte red colour.

The price range of the matte red Apache 160 is INR 77,862, while the rear disc variant costs INR 80,196.

On the other hand, the matte red colour Apache 180cc is priced around INR 81,933 Ex-showroom price.

TVS previously emphasized the matted blue racing edition, but presently, the situation is highlighted with the matter red color for the Apache motorcycles of all variants.

Other than the colour changes, there are no other updates included in the vehicles. But, the motorcycles get a rim sticker in the colour combination of red and white based on the RTR 160 and RTR 180 variants.

Engine Specification of Matte Red colour

The engine specifications remain same as the Apache RTR 160 is powered by the 159.7cc single cylinder engine, capable of producing a maximum power of 15.2 BHP and a peak torque of 13.1 NM.

Whereas, the Apache RTR 180 gains power through the 177.4 cc single cylinder mill splashing a maximum power of 17.03 BHP and 15.5 NM of maximum torque.

Both the engines are BS4 standard and connected to a five speed gearbox for the transmission purposes.

Other specifications

None of the Apache motorcycles feature an upside down forks and the specification continues even in the matte red colour Apache. Both the Apache RTR 160 and 180 uses the conventional telescopic forks in the front and the rear is fitted with the gas filled MIG suspension.

Stopping powers too has the same specification –  270 mm petal disc in the front and 200 mm in the rear.

BMW R Nine T recalled for the Swingarm problem

BMW Motorrad recalls U.S bound R Nine T motorcycles because of the flawed swingarm pivot pin. BMW is in the pursuit of recall that the company had recalled many of its motorcycles which includes:

2013-2017 BMW R1200GS, F800R, and F800GT

2014-2017 R1200GS Adventure

2016-2017 S1000XR

2015-2017 R1200R and R1200RS

C650GT

C Evolution scooters

The problem face in the BMW R Nine T is the loose swingarm pivot pin which was manufactured between the year 2014 to 2017. BMW says that, only the R Nine T is the affected ones, while the other similar variants like Scrambler, Racer, Urban G/S, and Pure are unaffected.

  According to the National Highway Traffic Association, the bolts of the Swingarm Pivot pin attaching to the frame may relax, causing the rider to face serious consequences like losing the control to leading to crash. The problem of the R Nine T is mainly due to the production error by the Supplier called ‘Walter Automobiltecnik’.

The R Nine T, that is affected with the swingarm will create an unusual noise like a rattling sound from the behind.

The issues on this swingarm was first reported in Turkey early in the year 2016 and BMW received same such issues from three of its customers in the same year. Furthermore, the issue reported repeatedly in the following upcoming days till 2017.

The German Company will insist its dealer to oversee the issue and will contact the R Nine T owners for the inspection and replacement of the necessary spares.

BMW Motorrad from recent times is noted in the action of recalls bound to many of its motorcycle, and the company constantly gets it fixed. The BMW R Nine T is one of the issues reported need to be addressed.
