also with my old classmate i asked him how nyc was treating him and he looked me dead in the eye and said « i’ve been brutalised »

and i though he was joking or like exaggerating for effect so i laughed a little and he was like no i mean it i’ve been attacked everyone is so angry and mean i feel genuinely beat down

and that was less funny.

told andre that my old roommate and i used to have this game where we would tell each other potentially harsh but honest observations about the other’s character, without any consequences (we trust each other a lot), and andre was like oh that sounds like fun can i tell you one i noticed about you and i was like (internally what could this man i see once a year possibly have to say) yeah sure go ahead man hit me. and he said « okay i hope it’s not rude please don’t take offense like idk if you know but your sarcasm is really obvious »
