Thinking of the implications and themes of how Giorno was only socially accepted after she began white-passing (looking more like her father) and also began masking to hell and back.
Everyone and herself hated her until suddenly she didn't seem japanese anymore. She was blonde and she had a non-japanese name and she learned to be more "socially acceptable" (stop staring, try smiling, say the right words no matter how fake). and while her original behaviors were born of trauma, i also believe that they are also just a part of who she is (as in. yknow. neurodivergent. if ya didnt catch my drift).
I think Giorno becoming blonde isn't like. a bad thing in itself. But it is thematically used to erase her japanese identity and specifically make her resemble her british father and thats what makes it sad for her </3. Like she can be blonde and japanese and serve cunt in an ideal world. But she doesn't have access to that ideal world.
Giorno had already wanted to change and influence the world around her ever since meeting her hero, but it was when she changed physically that she basically decided to throw her old self away completely.
This is mostly just to say that i feel really bad for Haruno Shiobana and how she was treated and how she was thrown away by almost everyone (including herself).
#if this post gets horribly misinterpreted im ending it on the spot#and while i do imagine her transformation as her transitioning point from he/him to she/her#i also imagine that she chose that point because it would be the most socially acceptable way for her to transition#and may have been the one chance she had at that happiness#and while its fine that she grew into her new identity (i just want her to be happy) shes still hiding a lot#and she deserved an upbringing that wouldve made her able to accept herself as non-white and neurodivergent as well#like. she shouldnt have to have chosen one or the other to be happy.#haruno shiobana is like. a dead name of both her gender and her identity and the identity aspect is what makes it sad#but who knows. maybe after joining the gang she can slowly learn to accept herself for every side of her#and her new friends can as well#anyway rant over sorry for going insane ive been thinking about this for years#giorno giovanna#jjba vento auero#jjba golden wind#jojo no kimyou na bouken#jjba#sugarztalkz
