This was put together in a thread by @/Waleedx2007 on tw i tter including a bunch of ideas and cut content that didn’t make it into the final Seperate Ways DLC, I can’t include them all here sorry but I’ll send the full thread in the replies!! :D it’s SO COOL to see what we could’ve gotten!!!

I hope you don’t mind me reblogging this to this blog and adding onto your post BUT THE PARALLELS BETWEEN LUIS AND DON QUIXOTE GENUINELY MAKE ME CRAZY!!!!!!! Like Alonso was loved by the people around him in La Mancha, sure, but they still thought he was a crazy and his dreams and ideals were outlandish and silly at best. And I can only imagine Luis was probably the same when he was a little boy living in Valdelobos!!!!! I’m sure he had people like his Grandfather or Mendez who loved him, but the majority of his village still saw him as an outcast!!! His love for books and science would’ve made him the black sheep of his community and the people around him probably thought his dreams of leaving the town and making a mark on the world were insane, which like, yeah, to a small devoutly religious community with no contact to the outside world it probably DOES seem crazy!!!!! But just like Don Quixote he followed his dreams anyways because he would’ve lived his life and died wondering ‘What If’ otherwise!!!!!

AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THEIR MORAL PARALLELS LATER ON IN LIFE OH MY GOD. Don Quixote only ever wanted to do good, to be a chivalrous knight like the ones he read about, even if the way he went about it was selfish and ended up being more of a nuisance than not. Luis probably only ever wanted to help people, too!! He watched his Grandfather die to an unknown illness, my personal headcannon is that he probably joined Umbrella to make sure nothing like that ever happened again!!! But like Don Quixote he was blinded by ideals!!!!! He was so distracted with making an impact on the world, using his skills and his intelligence to further himself and his work, he probably didn’t see the red flags until it was FAR too late!! And then he does it AGAIN with Los Illuminados. And then AGAIN when saving Leon, Ada and Ashley. It’s only when he entirely gives up his selfish wants (or his ‘lance’ so to speak) does he finally make the impact he always wanted to, even at the cost of his life.

Don Quixote is a weird book that’s kinda just like,,, unfortunate event after unfortunate event for Alonso BCBDNDJDN (I haven’t read it in a WHIIIIIILE so I am VERY MUCH SO forgetting a good portion of it) but even the small things like Luis making the same mistakes over and over again is not only a very human trait for him to have, but also something Don Quixote would do himself. These two freaks (affectionate) have such a strong moral code and such strong autism it makes me go crazy

*takes drag of my cigarette* okay so i know we keep making fun of luis for making a role model out out don quixote, who was explicitly written to be the complete opposite of one and the laughing stock of the entire book, kinda makes sense now that i'm rereading the book and trying to annotate/analyze it more closely than i did last go around. i think it makes sense considering that he's probably the only kid his age in a very small, very religious town, that isn't taken seriously not just because he's so young, but because of how passionate about his interests he is (especially since they're very academic interests i.e reading, science, don quixote ofc). also, even during the game, luis has this incredibly strong moral code that makes him try to make things right and save and help people to an almost compulsive degree, so i think he sees himself in a character that is so similar to him and maybe also made it his entire personality but who doesn't do that with their special interests

serrennedy is funny to me because luis would obviously use a bunch of random pet names, he already does in-game. but leon is a man who exclusively says "luis." in the most monotone, vaguely scary voice and call it a day <- he's expressing happiness

Luis’ heels make me giggle a little cuz he’s already tall!! He’s already a lanky guy!!! Who’s he trying to impress!!! Why does he need added height?! So he can stand on his tippy toes and kiss OTHER MEN?!

Total tonal shift from my last post too but I think Luis would do well with having a pet reptile of some kind :)) like I think their complicated care and meticulous method of feeding with bugs and whatnot would scratch that little scientist itch in his brain and heal him a lil idk

I am feeling so so so normal about the fact that we get to see what everyone else’s eyes/bodies look like when infected with the Plagas EXCEPT for Luis. We get to see how Ada, Ashley and Leon react to the infection inside of them (especially in their eyes) and the only person we DON’T see is Luis. Like obviously it’s because he’s already healed himself ages ago. But could it also be because, on a more meta level, he’s afraid to face his own past?? Is it to hide his vulnerability from the first people he has the chance to help in years??? Luis certainly TRIES to keep up this confident persona but for a character who wears his heart on his sleeve he just can’t help but show it over and over again. So idk it feels very poignant to me that Luis is the only character who we never visually see at their absolute physical lowest like Leon, Ada or Ashley

Serennedy Week 2025 Prompt 4 - T4T

I think Leon gets up with his alarm before the sun in almost robotic fashion and then Luis would sleep in until like 3pm if given the option. They're so funny <3

I was like "this one is quick! Hooray!" and then it was not. Had three finals in two days and then right in to working a 16 hour weekend... but that means no MORE finals!! For a few weeks. Who would've thought taking classes condensed into 4 week blocks over the summer was a lot of work? Either way, we're back!
