The 2023 Gender Census is now open!
[ Link to survey ]
The 10th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 9th May 2023.
It’s short and easy, about 5 minutes probably.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers who’d be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful - it’s what helped us get 40,000 responses last year.
Survey URL: https://survey.gendercensus.com
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesn’t fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
For the curious, you can also spy on some graphs and demographic data for the incoming responses here.
Thank you so much!

Calling nonbinary folks with nonbinary partners!!
Have you heard of the LNLH study? This study seeks to gain insight into how nonbinary partners who live together share household labor (tasks such as cooking, cleaning, taking out the trash, etc.).
To be eligible to participate, you must have a nonbinary identity, and currently living with one romantic partner, or multiple romantic partners, who has/have a nonbinary identity.
Zoom interviews typically last around one hour. Interviewees will receive $50 Etsy e-gift cards as compensation for their time.
This isn't limited to only U.S. participants, either, so check it out if you're interested and international.
If interested, please scan the QR code or visit https://bit.ly/LNLHstudy

New year, new me? How about... a more healed me: I hope that the end of the year brings a version of me that is more healed and has been able to work on their trauma in a way to be able to show up more fully in every space. a more compassionate me: I aim to become a version of me that is able to create space for compassion, empathy, and kindness. a me that gives myself the same grace and space I seek to give to others: That compassion, empathy, and kindness I seek to extend to others must also be something that I extend to myself in order to combat the perfectionism rampant with white supremacy. a me ready to take on important work: Working to make the world a better place requires that we do a lot of self-work. I hope that I am in the space to be able to take on that work, not only on myself but in the spaces I occupy. a more righteous me, not for religion but for justice: May we all be hungrier for justice than we are for privilege. a more whole me: Here's to becoming more whole this year.

The staff and performers of Club Q are struggling financially with the club being shut down. Those who weren't working the night of the shooting are not counted as "victims," so don't have access to the same kinds of support but are nonetheless out of a paycheck.
Del Lusional explained here: "Unfortunately the employees and contractors who were not in the building are still being greatly impacted with the loss of income, these last few shows of the month were gonna help pay rent and utilities for many of us."
They are working on getting a joint PayPal set up, but for those of us in the US, here are ways to send money to some of these individuals:

okay. i've seen a lot of posts with a lot of links going around. and i thought that i'd make a linktree with every link i've seen so far for indigenous organizations that need monetary support.
here is the linktree. please donate, especially if you are white and live on stolen land.
i'm also making a linktree for indigenous individuals in need of monetary support, but i haven't seen that many links, so please, if you are indigenous and need monetary support, please reply, reblog, or dm me with your links and i will add them to a new linktree, which i will make shortly.
the great thing about one linktree is that you can copy the link and share it on your instagram as well, since instagram doesn't allow sharing more than one link -- which is the primary reason i made a linktree. share this and reach as many people as you can.

There's so much to say and yet no words, no images convey anywhere near enough.
Reposted from @modernpathcounseling on IG
After a week of awareness, hope, and love, today is extra hard. We are fighting a battle daily to be seen, to be respected, and to be allowed to live authentically.
Today we honor the 390 trans and gender-diverse lives we lost in the last 12 months due to hate and violence. This is a reported number, so we are also holding space that 390 may not be accurate and lower than the actual amount (due to reporting error and bias).
Every year on this day, we say the names of people whose lives were taken from them due to violence and hate. The number grows every year. These are brutal crimes. These are precious humans found in mass graves. These are deaths by suicide. And all of these deaths stem from hate. 390 people. One of them was 10 years old. These were 390 preventable deaths.
Today we are holding space for our trans family and those who lost their lives over the past year. Today we honor those who are here and those who paved the way for our communities.
Please take the time to read our post here: https://www.modernpath.net/modern-path-speaks-out/trans-day-of-remembrance-2022

What does pathologization have to do with gender?
Without pathologization, we would encounter less gatekeeping and fewer roadblocks to care. We wouldn't have to 'prove' that we're 'trans enough' to access life-saving healthcare or supports.
What's one step you can think of that we can take now to push towards depathologization?
