i like to imagine that abyss arc has a fun enemies to lovers bingjiu moment where Jiu admits his jealousy and fear of Binghe while Binghe admits his own fear of being unworthy and abandoned. due to plants and poisons and monsters, of course, like either of them would admit shit otherwise.

also, whenever Binghe would've been love pollened and fucked whatever 'morally dubious' succubus pollened him, he just fucks Shen Jiu. Shen Jiu offered, of course, he wanted something to hold over Binghe. now he's just tsundere.

Shen Qingqiu is so weird, bc he always tries to excuse every even remotely nice thing he does as selfish - saving Liu Qingge in the Lingxi Caves? He does that, and after he just goes 'and i did it only to get him to protect me from lbh in the future. Not bc i saw someone in need of help, not at all.' And it's so easy to belive him! The way he says 'yeah i have to cling to protagonist's golden thighs' but almost everything he does for him is so not to just make Binghe like him, he just wants to do that bc he cares about him.

Also the self-destruction? He tries so much to make himself believe it was done only bc he had a back-up body and actually it was easier to kill himself to get into the mushroom body. Like, no bitch? Even without backup you'd propably do it!

bingdi wasn’t supposed to have a harem. he was supposed to end up alone. like yeah he’d bang when he wanted to but no wives. shen jiu was supposed to have a fleshed out back story. the entire thing was supposed to be deeper and darker.

let’s drop shen yuan into the mix (as per usual) and see what happens. i personally think he’d be a wandering cultivator and shen jiu’s little brother. that adds to his og fleshed-out backstory. ofc he’s gonna meet airplane (platonic soulmates in the worst way possible) and he’s gonna wifebeam bingdi into submission

i just think it would be fun and new and interesting to drop him into THIS universe because i’ve never seen anyone use the draft as a setting. it’s just so fun to think of a non-bingmei binghe not occupied with wives. wtf is that guy doing? i wanna know. I need to clarify in my forever concept only au Airplane is not a good parental figure either, even if Shen Yuan would let him parent him. He's more like a lousy big brother or uncle.

Airplane's just not scared SY is a tiny version of his dad (most people), hates him because he's his father's son (also most people), hates him because his dad had a kid with someone else (Yue Qingyuan), or constantly undermines him, insults him, and abuses him emotionally or physically (Shen Qingqiu). So the bar is low.

Also Mu Qingfang is trying to steal Shen Yuan 24/7

Catboy shen yuan.... we really need a plot device that makes shizun a catboy so he can't keep hiding his emotions anymore. Imagine his tail wagging happily while he eats Binghe’s food and then uses his totally blank face to say "the meal was passable." Or him shooing his little disciple off and saying "no need to hang around this old master, spend time with your shijie" but his cat ears are pressed down sadly. You WILL be knowable, shen yuan, and you'll be knowable in the most adorable way possible

I think it would be pretty funny/dramatic if, somehow, SQQ and LBH had like a one stand ala Devotion style before SQQ self destructed that just. transferred over to the mushroom body because it was like a spiritual pregnancy due to cultivation bullshit or something stupid like that (and we say thank you Airplane) so SQQ just woke. pregnant. wouldn't that be fucked up. :]
