decentralize and clean up your life!!!
use overdrive, libby, hoopla, cloudlibrary, and kanopy instead of amazon and audible.
use firefox instead of chrome or opera (both are made with chromium, which blocks functionality for ad-blockers. firefox isn't based on chromium).
use mega or proton drive instead of google drive.
get rid of bloatware
use libreoffice instead of microsoft office suite
use vetted sites on r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH for free movies, books, games, etc.
use trakt or letterboxd instead of imdb.
use storygraph instead of goodreads.
use darkpatterns to find mobile game with no ads or microtransactions
use ground news to read unbiased news and find blind spots in news stories.
use mediahuman or cobalt to download music, or support your favorite artists directly through bandcamp
make youtube bearable by using mtube, newpipe, or the unhook extension on chrome, firefox, or microsoft edge
use search for a cause or ecosia to support the environment instead of google
use thriftbooks to buy new or used books (they also have manga, textbooks, home goods, CDs, DVDs, and blurays)
use flashpoint to play archived online flash games
find books, movies, games, etc. on the internet archive! for starters, here's a bunch of David Attenborough documentaries and all of the Animorphs books
burn your music onto cds
use pdf24 (available online or as a desktop app) instead of adobe
use unroll.me to clean your email inboxes
use thunderbird, mailfence, countermail, edison mail, tuta, or proton mail instead of gmail
remove bloatware on windows PC, macOS, and iOS X
remove bloatware on samsung X
use pixelfed instead of instagram or meta
use NCH suite for free software like a file converter, image editor, video editors, pdf editor, etc.
feel free to add more alternatives, resources or advice in the reblogs or replies, and i'll add them to the main post <3

hello fellow non-Black tumblr users. welcome to my saw trap. if you'd like to leave, please name one (1) Black woman author who is not Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, bell hooks, Octavia Butler, or N.K. Jemisin. bonus points if she's published a book in the last five years.

if you like crafting and also free things, might i suggest the antique pattern library?
itās a not for profit thatās gathering books, patterns, and other materials related to crafting that are out of copyright (or getting permission from copyright holders in some cases) in order to share them online. they scan items, clean them up, then make everything available for free!
free things are great, especially when youāre just starting to get into something. like oh, iām supposed to spend money on this hobby i just picked up 20 minutes ago???
the first time i ended up on the site, i seriously spent hours just trawling through everything. thereās the usual suspects like knitting, crochet, embroidery, but thereās also woodwork, calligraphy, and books on things like how to mount and frame pictures. with cross stitch patterns, they also make modern charts with the dmc colour codes available.
links to their webbed site and instagram:
https://www.antiquepatternlibrary.org/

behold, a glorious cat cross stitch pattern (link goes to antique pattern library page):

mushroom bourguignon (or I guess beef bourguignon if you're not vegetarian) is easy enough to make but tases very good and sounds kinda fancy. it's really filling with mashed potatoes and is great for cold weather.
mushroom/beef stroganoff on egg noodles is super easy to make and also really good and perfect for cold weather. (looking at this stroganoff pics is making me nauseous rn or I'd want some of that too...)

DOCTOR WHO RESOURCES: A MASTERPOST
Hi all, I was going to share my Doctor Who comics, but I got a bit carried away so enjoy! Iām only sharing links to my own files, websites, and files I have permission to share, so this will certainly have gaps. Feel free to contact me for any recommendations, suggestions, requests, or anything youād like to add ā¤ļæ½ļæ½
VIDEO/TELEVISION:
The Library (has every episode of Modern Doctor Who, Classic Doctor Who, the TV movie, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures, and Class)
Classic Doctor Who Again (this is out of order but some of the reconstructed animations are in here too)
Mini Episodes, Prequels, Lockdown, Extras and More
Scream of the Shalka Episodes 1 2 3 4 5 6
The Curse of Fatal Death
Some Doctor Who Confidentials
The Peter Cushing Films
The Infinity Quest
Dreamland (unfortunately this is only available to people in the UK but you can use a VPN too)
AUDIO:
All the audio dramas here come from Big Finish on Spotify, but I highly suggest supporting Big Finish directly when you can, as they are a smaller company that relies more heavily on audience contributions. Thereās also more free stuff on their website that isnāt included below.
The First 50 Main Range
Short Trips Volume 1 and 2
8th Doctor main range in order up to Zagreus, and first season with Lucie Miller (if you are just getting into the audios I would suggest starting here)
Charlotte Pollard Further Adventures (Series 1)
4th Doctor Adventures (Series 1)
The Lost Stories (4th and 6th Doctors)
Destiny of the Doctor
Unit: Dominion (highly suggest this, great plot twists and characters, it is 4 hours long though)
UNIT (assorted)
The Stageplays
Bernice Summerfield
Counter-Measures (series 1 and 2)
I, Davros
The Davros Mission
Iris Wildthyme (assorted)
Jago & Litefoot
The Companion Chronicles (series 2)
Graceless (Series 1-3)
Cyberman
Dalek Empire
Fan Audios (these are amazing too)
The Soundtrack
COMICS:
My Personal Collection (right now itās mostly full of wilderness years stuff, but Iām always editing it)
This website has a lot of the newer stuff and is fairly safe
This website also has a lot of new stuff, but is a little less safe
This website has all of the magazines and most Titan comics. No clue how safe it is though.
Would highly suggest the fan comics High and Dry by Valc0, and The Ten Doctors by Rich Morris
NOVELS/ LITERATURE:
Hereās my collection of pretty much every major novel series. In truth I donāt actually know what sort of stuff I have, but thereās around 500 novels in here
All of these are in my collection already, but hereās another link just in case: EDAs VNAs PDAs
My collection only has a few of the target novelizations, but there are more here
Some (older) Doctor Who magazines
Official Scripts
Transcripts
Big Finish Transcript Archive
Hereās just a link to AO3ās Doctor Who stuff because I can
MISCELLANEOUS:
Games
Big Finish Trigger Warning Chart
The Big Finish Podcast
A list of everything included in Doctor Whoās canon
The Wiki

Unsplash -Ā photography, illustration, and art
PixabayĀ - same as unsplash
PexelsĀ - stock photos and videos
Stockvault.netĀ - stock photos
freepngimgĀ - icons, pictures and clipart
VeceezyĀ - vectors and clipart
Kissclipart and kissPNG - more vectors and clipart (often transparent!)
Getdrawings - simplistic images and drawing tutorials
GumroadĀ - photoshop brushes (and more)
Canva - needs login but has lots of templates
Library of Congress - historical posters and photos
NASA - you guessed it
Creative Commons - all kinds of stuff, homie
Even Adobe has some free images
There are so many ways to make moodboards, bookcovers, and icons without infringing copyright! As artists, authors, and other creatives, we need to be especially careful not to use someone elseās work and pass it off as our own.Ā
Please add on if you know any more sites for free images <3
