The main crew are two brothers and their widower dad, who are recovering from the death of their mom. Despite that, it doesn't FEEL like a dead mom narrative /pos

The brotherly shenanigans from every episode

The main cast is also 50% nerds and 50% lesser nerds

Crime show where we actually explore a wider range of human on human crime, rather than an intricate rape case every two episodes

Listen I get enough sexual violence in rl I don't want it in my crime escapism show

Charlie clearly shows empathy on many occasions and that doesn't get in the way of his intelligence.

Relatedly

We get to see very intelligent, very smart characters who have interpersonal plots other than "I'm too smart to know how to be a person"

As an ace person I distinctly understand the idea that "you can get so much done when you're not thinking about sex" but as an avid learner I hate the implication that you can either be good at your studies or have friends. And the trope of "really smart character and the friend who loves them in spite of their intellectual tendencies". Ew. Hate it. Friends shouldn't be handlers.

None of the supporting cast give off the impression that they're pity friends with the main cast

It's from 2005 so we get to explore "cutting edge technology" that's old hat to me. It's so much fun to see things reframed as new and cool. Makes life more fun.

Characters who are all in their chosen professions and get to do that around the crime bits

The Dwarfs are very clearly inspired mainly from Old Norse, so that's the main reference for Gimli's dress. There's also some other influences, like some Bronze Age Mediterranean influences and Iron Age Eastern Europe.

To me Tolkien's elves are very high Middle Ages and Gothic, but for Sindar I mixed in plenty of Celtic and especially Irish influence, and based Legolas' dress heavily on Irish léine.

Boromir's dress I based on mostly Byzantine but also some Medieval Arabic influences as I did for Faramir.

Guys I found an archive for an unofficial fan site!! It’s [redhawke.org] and it’s honestly so touching to see the love put into the site and it’s kind of a reminder that fans have always been around. A little relic from Numb3rs heyday and it’s making me overly sentimental <3
