Original Content 3/3 Week 15
Where will you adjust your writing process based on your experiences in this class?
The one thing that I will be adjusting in my writing process is in the brainstorming process. Especially around understanding the audience. Much of the writing I have done over the years is to just match the prompts from the professors' assignments. I would then just match the information required without little thought about who was reading the information I was conveying. Understanding who the audience is goes a long way in the method and style that I will be writing in the future.

What are you most proud of with your writing assignments in this class? This semester?
I am very proud of our recent Design Project. I am still struggling with key concepts; however, I was able to communicate what I was thinking behind each posting from the original posts from the "company" to the angry responses from "fans". I am proud of this project because I was able to draw from my personal experiences when I was enjoying a show, and it was cancelled shortly after. I was able to channel the same feelings I have felt and from what I know others have felt.

What are you most proud of with your writing process?
I think the one thing that I am most proud of is that I feel that I am closer to writing in my own voice again. I became so bogged down with just writing what was required in the assignment. I feel that the more we break down understanding our audience and the architecture of our paper, the more freedom that we have to express ourselves if that is what the audience is looking for. Especially in this format of our weekly Tumblr assignments. I am proud to have found my voice in writing again, even if it's only for these assignments.

I always love when you see fans of Always Sunny that think a certain way realize that they show is making fun of them and they think the show has changed. I find it funny because the show has always been making fun of people in this way. The whole point was to create a satire of the people Rob grew up with in Philadelphia and they have just expanded from there. I love that show.
Original Content Writing !
One of my all-time favorite shows is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Loving this show has definitely helped me understand angry fandoms more, especially in the adult animation space. Even though Sunny isn’t animated, the humor is just as dark and ridiculous, and a lot of fans cross over between the two. What I’ve noticed is people get super defensive about these shows, like if someone criticizes the characters or the jokes, fans flip out and act like it’s a personal attack. Working on this project, I see how fandoms can turn toxic fast when people can’t tell the difference between satire and reality. It’s like, the characters are supposed to be terrible. That’s the humor.

I mean, Team Logan, so let's hope it's his. My wife dragged me through seven seasons and collective 5 times in our life together and I don't care what anyone says, this show grows on you. So, needless to say she was very excited about this, and was just a mad about the cliffhanger.

My experience as a fan of a show that was cancelled...
One of my favorite shows, Gilmore Girls, had a reunion season. It was about Rory when she was older; the season was only 4 episodes, which were about an hour long each. However, at the end of the last episode, I was so mad!!! They left us on the biggest cliffhanger. Rory was talking to her mom and told her she’s pregnant, and then showed over. She has had so many boyfriends, so whose is it? I was so upset and just wanted to know more information. I felt connected to all the characters since there are so many seasons of the show. I know they had to end the show somehow, but with that cliffhanger?!

Dr. P Game Week 14
I feel that there is not enough attention given to the masterful design of food. It is more than just making it look pretty. That is just temporary as it will be destroyed one way or another. The way we design food tells a story of the work and training that one has to endure to gain the experience to bring us such beautiful dishes. It tells a story of where the chef or baker comes from and what they want to share with the diner. Sure, we are just looking for a sweet or savory treat, but it is an experience that if we let it, will stay with us the rest of our lives.

I was one of these fans many years ago. I was upset with the casting of Heath Ledger as the Joker. However, after seeing the amazing job he did, I have hung up my opinions on casting choices. Truth is, if you want a true to the original cast, then just play the game, read the book or just wait and see. This is a great example of what this project is about.

Share an example of your favorite television show or movie - how does that show/movie help you work through this project and understand angry fandom?
One of my favorite shows that is experiencing some controversy right now is The Last Of Us. A lot of fans have been upset over the casting of certain characters such as one of the main protagonist Ellie and another main character Abby. This show has been adapted from a video game, so people have been complaining that the characters from the show don't look like their video game counterparts. This show helps me while working on this project by seeing how the show and actors deal with this hate.

I feel like Netflix is the perfect platform to look for fans angry about cancelations. I have stopped watching shows on Netflix unless they have more than three seasons on fears that they will cancel them. This is a great example of what is being covered in this module.

share an example of your favorite television show or movie - how does that show/movie help you work through this project and understand angry fandom?
I'm using Archive 81 as my example. I like using Reddit to see how people react to canceled shows. There's a lot of variation within the different threads. I've been looking through posts under r/netflix. Many fans compare it to other shows that were abruptly canceled. A lot of the fandom expressed confusion because they thought it was fairly "cheap" to make and well-received. Many people were asking if it ends on a cliffhanger because they had it in their queue and wanted to know if it was still worth watching. Others pointed out that it wasn't advertised well, even though it hit the top charts (Ozark took its spotlight shortly after). Then they left it on an insane cliffhanger after practically everything was revealed but the roles of characters did a complete 180°. This helps me understand the different types of responses I can create. While many fans agreed on the same points, there were still a variety of reasons why they were the most angry. I can understand why people are angry; it feels like companies often abandon projects without giving them enough attention. People may feel like a show could’ve been finished off if given one more season. If companies weren’t so greedy for money they wouldn’t cut off great shows. The anger of other shows that lose their plot and views somehow get renewed. This gives me more ideas on how and why fans can be angry for various reasons and what drives their reactions.

Original Content Week 14 2/2
I was a true believer in Game of Thrones. This was my show. I was so excited for the eighth and final season. Especially after the seventh season being one of the best seasons of television ever! Ever! Unless you have lived under a rock for the last half decade, then you know that the eight season was one of the worst seasons of television ever! Ever! Each week it was like we were being punished more and more for loving something so much. Finally, we are handed a series finale that is one of the worst things that I have viewed on a television screen in my life. The actors giving interviews were saying they were in tears while reading the last pages. I believe the story was so bad they were moved to tears. The last season was so bad that I have no rewatched the series since. I have channeled these feelings while working on this project.

This isn't really my experience, but it is the first time I experience a fan base being really upset over the cancelation of a show. When I was younger, most of my friend group would quote the show Firefly, which I had never seen. It is a "space western" which has gained a cult following after being canceled after one season. There have been campaigns and petitions to bring the show back on air. There was enough of an uproar that there finally was a movie made that continued the story called Serenity. Personal, I didn't care for it and don't really get the hype.

Explain how audiences connect with show creators and producers on social media.
I don't know if anyone know who James Gunn is. He has written and directed such films as the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, the Peacemaker tv show, and is now CEO of DC Studios. He also is known for directly responding to fans questions on social media. It is not uncommon for Gunn to announce new roll outs and changes by simply by responding on a fan's question on Twitter (or X).
This is not the case for many creators on social media. However, it is refreshing to see a creator that cares enough about their audience to communicate with them directly.

Share a genre detail that will resonate with your audience:
We just got done watching The Pitt, a medical drama on HBO Max. This show has connected fans of drama; however, it has also received a great deal of recognition to those in the medical community as the most accurate medical show ever made. This is the genre that my version of Favorite Show will be modeled after. My audience will be fans of this show, which is Definity not for everyone. The show is graphic and bloody, while dealing with issues that healthcare workers deal with every day, and it is important that they there is now a window into their world and the issues that they deal with.

Thursday Check-In Week 12
I was wondering if more content should be added to the final project, I know I still need to add examples of my own content, I just wanted to make sure that my primary examples are quick and easy to follow for my audience. Am I correct with my written content and just need the visual or does it need more?

This year we started a new diet that did not allow processed sugar. As someone with a sweet tooth, I needed something that would curve my cravings. I found medjool dates, which are just like eating caramels, without the downsides.
