Thursday Checking
what assignment questions do you have that will help you complete the assignment successfully? #writ318mu #week15 @npfannen
For the final paper, are we restructuring the questions to form a essay, or is it okay if we answer the questions with a simple Q&A format (question in bold and our answer below sort of thing).  Also for the examples that we pull from, does it have to be a different example for each question? Or if we’ve garnered multiple things from one assignment can we reflect how it applies to the prompt in question?

Original Content Writing !
I’m proud of how much more confident I am in my writing now. The detailed feedback we got on every assignment helped me actually see my growth from draft to draft. Before, my writing process was kind of messy, and I'd just hope for the best. Now I feel like I have a real structure. I worked out a lot of bad habits thanks to this class and honestly feel way more prepared for future writing projects.

Thursday Check in (week 15)
I plan to pursue a career in Art Therapy in the future, I am just wondering if you have any advice on how web writing skills apply to this profession. I want to accurately answer the questions for the assignment.
I was researching what art therapists do, and I saw that they can create open-ended prompts for patients to answer. I think that I can answer these prompts by thinking about the creative and writing elements that go into the profession. I can combine psychology and creative processes of art to help patients express emotions and improve their mental health. Having a lot of design elements in the projects over all the modules will also support my answers.

Appreciating Web Writing
What do you appreciate most about your learning about web writing?
When it comes to learning about web writing, the thing I appreciate the most is learning how involved web writing as a whole is. Before this class, I never knew how much went into creating the perfect post. Content creators have to adapt their content to each and every platform that they choose to use. Content creators also have to design every post so that it meets the cultural standards of their follows and the users of the specific platforms. Overall, before this class I thought that content creators (or other web writers) just make a post, then post it. I never knew how involved web writing could be.

Original Post (2/3)
Where will you adjust your writing process based on your experiences in this class?
Now that I have taken this class, I will begin to figure out the audience I will be writing for, as well as, the content and context of the platform. The class has really helped me identify how I can look at a platform and all of the attributes of it and write geared towards the information architecture, and the overall purpose of the message. I’ve learned that writing isn't just about what I want to say, but how to shape it so it fits the expectations, layout, and tone of the space it’s in, whether that’s a website, social media, or another digital platform. I will continue to draft and do more drafting and peer editing before I post the final version.

what do you appreciate most about your learning about web writing?
I found this class to be very interesting. I most appreciated learning how to incorporate design into writing. I am a graphic design major, so I have been learning how to design all sorts of things. However, for writing, I have always just written an essay and did not add anything special. I was never taught this type of writing. So, getting practice from this class has helped expand my knowledge. Understanding the audience and determining which style would fit them best has helped me practice how to design my writing.

where will you adjust your writing process based on your experiences in this class?
I've always had a very similar writing process that I always turned to when tackling any significant literature task for the past few years. It's a very niche and relatively somewhat unorganized process that has always just worked for me. But as I've written In this class I have realized its flaws. I found this year, out of the many things we learned, the two most valuable skills in my opinion were content strategy and rhetorical situation. These two methods seem to be pretty universal in the way they can be used In any writing situation and I plan to try and permanently add these as apart writing process.

Final Thursday Check-in
For my final Thursday Check-in post I wanted to ask for some recommendations about how I can apply the things I've learned in this course to my future profession. I am studying to be an early childhood educator. When I am reaching out to families, do you have any suggestions about online programs to use? For English learning families, do you have any recommendations for strategies to write in ways they better understand? How can I make my web writing through lesson plans easy for a substitute to understand? I know these questions may be too content specific, but these are things I will keep and mind in my future profession that are web writing centered.

W15 Check-In Post
As I continue to develop and refine my web writing ability, something that I feel like I stuggle with is finding the balance between writing for clarity and writing for interest. I am aware that concise, clear language is most important for online readers, yet sometimes I struggle with presenting information that is informative as well as interesting. How do I improve my ability to write information that gets the message across without at the same time being boring or dull to my audience? Are there specific strategies or methods I can employ to practice this skill? @npfannen

Thursday Check-In Post Week 15
• What assignment questions do you have that will help you complete the assignment successfully? @npfannen
The assignment seems pretty straightforward. Answer the questions using examples from your work this semester. Reading the questions over they are definitely interview focused. This question maybe be unnecessary but I just want to make sure I’m conceptualizing the right thing as I respond.
So to clarify, should we answer the assignment question as students in this class? Or as someone being interviewed for a “job”?
There’s also mention of a time you worked with other people on a writing assignment. I’m assuming an example in general works for that one rather than something specific to this course?
I think from there the rest of it makes enough sense to work through without issue.

Thursday check in week 15
What questions do I have to successfully complete this week’s assignment?
My one questions is what I should do for the question asking about peer feedback/ collaboration. For me throughout this semester and I don’t know if it was like this for others but I do not think I have enough examples of peer feedback and what I should do for this answer?

Thursday Check-In !
What are tips to keep improving my writing skills without the super helpful in-depth feedback you give for each assignment? That kind of feedback really helped me grow, and I’m a little nervous to lose that going forward. Also, for the final essay, do you want us to give an example from a class assignment for every question? Or can we pull from other classes too if those assignments align better? Just want to make sure I’m using the strongest examples possible and staying within expectations. Oh, and also on D2L, it says Reflection #7 is due at noon on Monday but the due date is set for midnight and then the Final Essay is set to be due at noon. I just wanted to be sure, both of those assignments are due at noon on their respective due dates right?

Thursday Check-In Post (5/1)
What assignment questions do you have that will help you complete the assignment successfully?
Hello @npfannen!
For the final reflection paper, are we able to draw from experiences outside of class, or are we limited to only using examples from this class?
Thanks!

Thursday Check-in Post (week 15)
What questions do you have about web writing that will help you after you finish this course?
The final assignment is questions that interviewers may ask in an interview. My major is Early Childhood Education. What are more specific questions that you think principles and administrators may ask me in an interview as a new teacher coming out of college. How could I use my skills from this class in an interview? I know I use technology in the classroom all the time, but how can I use web writing rhetorical analysis in the classroom and/or in an interview?

what are you most proud of with your writing process?
This class has helped me to grow with my writing. One of my goals at the beginning of the semester was to be more confident with my writing. I feel like I have gotten so much better with that. I have worked a lot with my drafting progress. I would lay out my thoughts and then do research and understand the audience. Thinking a lot about the audience and helped me a lot of structure my papers. This has made me feel confident when I am writing. In the end, I feel accomplished that I learned all these new skills.

Original Content Post Week 15 (1 of 3)
What are you most proud of with your writing process?
This semester I feel that I had made improvements to my own revision process and I am able to look at my own work and understand what areas need to be revised. I have struggled with the revision process in recent years because my previous college did not stress the importance of it. They gave a close due date to an assignment and it was expected of us to fix things without a specified revision period. With that being said, I am proud that I have fully embraced the revision process this semester and completely understand its importance as I will be using it in the future.
