My Writing Strengths
In my writing process, I am most proud of my outlining skills. I like laying out everything I plan on doing in my essay, especially highlighting the different points I want to make. This helps me write more from my perspective. If I know what to write about and discuss, then I can go on a deep dive into every little piece and expand on the topics greatly. Laying out my papers with questions I want to/should answer is a great way for me to focus on what I am creating.

Original Post #2 Week 15
What do you like most about your learning?
Throughout my learning, I have liked how much freedom we have with choosing what we wanted to focus on or research. For a majority of the projects we have completed, we were able to have the freedom to decide what we wanted to do out projects on with the only restrictions being what the topic of the project was. This lead to more individualistic and unique projects between the class.

Where will you adjust your essay to strengthen your point?
Tumblr media
In my essay, I plan on trying to use examples to strengthen my points, whatever they may be. I think using examples always helps to strengthen arguments.

what questions about writing skill development do you have?
Tumblr media
A question I have about writing skill development is how do you grow after being in education? After I'm done with school how do I continue to challenge and practice my skills outside of the classroom?

Where will you adjust your essay to strengthen your point?
I was a little confused at the assignment details at first, but the weekly overview video helped clarify significantly what examples we’re supposed to use to validate our answers. To adjust my essay further, I will focus on the context provided of this being an interview-like situation. I will write professionally and concisely, but I will also experiment with a conversational style to match the provided context.

Original Content Writing #15
Peer Review Request #2
I was wondering how you guys are laying out your document. Are you using bullet points to list key points? How are you showing examples for the questions? images, text, etc?

Original Content
what do you like the most about your essay?
What I like most about the content reflecting on learning essay is that it isn't an essay but a set of questions. I like that it is set up as almost an interview to answer these questions. Each question can help me reflect on my collaboration skills, communication skills and tools I've learned throughout the course. The interview questions set up makes the final not feel so intimidating and easier to break up.

Learning
I am proud of how my learning has grown in adapting to a new writing space. I am proud of being able to look at a space and better analyze how to write in it based on who the audience is and how they interact with the space as well as the overall experience and expectations of the space.

What I Liked Most About My Learning
What I liked most about my learning through this course is that I expanded my knowledge of different social media platforms and how their community interacts with each other. Before this course, I never had an account on tumblr, so posting on this site was very new for me! However, I really like how tumblr is set up and all the customization options available. I had no idea how creative tumblr could be and how there are so many different ways and formats to stylize your post.

Aspects of my writing process that I am proud of <3
I think I have grown a lot as a writer this semester and that growth is what I am most proud of. This semester I was able to take 3 writing classes and each I believe has helped me improve my writing skills. From Web Writing I learned how to analyze my audience! I find this skill very important because who knows I might start a professional Instagram in the future, and I will want to analyze my audience to improve my content. Another thing I learned in Web Writing is that there are many style differences in the language use different in posts online. From Craft of Writing, I learned SO many things about style techniques and how to analyze prose to identify the techniques. This is important to me because I am inspired by several writers who have unique styles, being able to figure out what device they're using can help me write in the style I want in different situations. And I learned to appreciate historical fiction! Last but not least, my media writing fiction class. I learned how to write a screenplay and I wrote a screenplay. Now, screenwriting is not a goal of mine but learning the format and how to build a 3-act story is very helpful for my future. I am generally so glad I took media writing fiction because I was able to explore my creativity and in that process I surprised myself!
Overall, I'm really proud of my growth as a writer this semester.

How I Adjusted My Reflection Essay
As I followed the instructions for the Content Reflection Essay, I had to constantly re-check the objectives as well as look at the textbook to correctly define certain aspects of the rhetorical situation. By incorporating both direct and working definitions of some of our textbook terms, I was able to clarify what exactly I was synthesizing. Remembering that the essay was structured like a conversation helped me to order my paragraphs in a logical way as well as properly explain all of my references to Writing 318 classwork.

Continuing Skills
How would you recommend developing skills once we are out of the academic environment? I am going to be graduating in the Fall and really want to keep up on my skills I have developed throughout my years of education. Is there a certain activity or site you would recommend to maintain and grow my writing skills? I have tried journaling in the past and it is not my favorite thing, but is it a good way to continue to grow in the writing sphere? I really want to make sure that I have a decent grasp on writing that continues long into my future career. @npfannen

Thursday Check-in
like our other assignments you wanted some design component added to it. For the “essay” is it okay to lay out in word or did you want a more designed layout like you can get in canva? @npfannen

My question for the Thursday Check-In post is centered around writing skill development. How do writers pursue more learning in the content creation world? Do they go to conferences, take courses outside of college, do peer review projects of some sort? What are ways to pursue web writing skills after college?

Strengthening my Essay
To strengthen my points in my essay, I will be sure to include the key concepts from this course when answering the questions. Showing how I used key concepts when web writing will show my audience of future employers that I properly understand the complexities of web writing, and that I am able to effectively communicate with various audiences by implementing these concepts.

Improving My Essay
When I mention key concepts, I will give plenty of context clues for what they mean. Information architecture or discourse community might not be the terms used by the future employer for those concepts. Showing that I understand the key concepts this way will also show that I'm not just using them as buzz words to act like I know what I'm talking about.
