He flips back over to his text thread with Buck. Underneath his icon—a picture Eddie took of Buck wielding a saw at a work, looking like a little kid at a candystore—it says Los Angeles, CA. It’s then that Eddie remembers Buck had decided they needed to share their locations with each other when Eddie had started driving Uber. “That way,” he’d said, “if one of your passengers kidnaps you, I’ll be able to tell.” Instead of pointing out the many flaws with this plan, Eddie had simply handed over his phone.  Buck had never had to intervene in an Uber pick-up kidnapping, but he had made use of the information, shooting Eddie random texts throughout the day like, get anything good at El Super? And working late again? And how many airport pickups have you done today lol?  Much less frequently, Eddie would tap on Buck’s icon and gaze at the little saw-wielding Buck icon floating over South Bedford Street, or the fire station, pressing a fist against the ache in his chest. Since moving back to LA, neither of them has really made use of their location sharing because, well, the minutes when Buck hasn’t been within arms reach or at least within Eddie’s immediate line of sight have been few and far between. And even in those rare moments when they’re not together, Eddie always knows exactly where Buck is. Until tonight.

buck who won't quit if he senses something is wrong with eddie. buck who gets that itch in his brain that makes him keep going until he has figured something out. he will keep working on eddie until he chisels a big enough crack in the wall that he can squeeze himself in (s5a panic attacks, 'if something is wrong, you need to tell me'). but if the situation calls for it, he will use every tool in his arsenal to get into a locked room if he needs to. he'll break down doors without a care in the world (s5b, ptsd) he is constantly applying pressure to eddie's repression until eddie lets him in

versus eddie doesn't want to break down the door, he wants to be invited in. he doesn't care if buck is having a positive or negative reaction, he doesn't care if buck is mad at him, he just doesn't want to be shut out. he just wants buck to talk to him. and when he does have to force himself in, eddie loses it a bit (see both s8 fights. 'if you are pissed off, be pissed off!') he wants buck to talk to him and feel safe coming to him. (ie buck feeling too coddled after the lightning, and eddie waiting for buck to come to him to process)

i love how their communication theses are almost the complete opposite, but how perfectly they complement each other.

You're right though, this fandom IS full of freaks, and I love it so much. I feel like every time someone goes, "Hey guys what if we get kinkier?" a bunch of people go, "YEAH!" and that's beautiful.
