He tries to keep a running list of the little moments that have reminded him why he's grateful to be alive again: the dogs he sees with winter coats and little boots, tiny snowmen built outside bus stops with gravel for eyes and cigarette butts stuck in their snowy mouths, the forts and igloos he finds in the park, kids screaming as they sled down hills.

He tries to hold these brief images alongside the acute pain of sleet against his cheeks, the memory of Gale's disdain, the numbness that's spread from his extremities all the way to his heart and brain, washing out the world's colour in a monotone grey. It almost makes him miss the deep reds of splattered blood, and it definitely makes him ache for the blue blue sky 30,000 feet above the ground.

☀️ In his dreams Gale opens the letter with trembling hands. He has all the time in the world to respond, but he doesn't bother to wait--drives over to Bucky's house and finds him chain smoking on the front porch. Through the hazy quality of unreality Bucky fixes him with a bashful, shit-eating grin and a future they could never have in waking unravels before him.

😭 thank you it's literally hell trying to find sources but I power through. The movies I'm focused on right now are The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Ravenous (1999), The Power of the Dog (2021), and Saltburn (2023)!
