The Chariot: Ambition, Willpower, Determination

Happy Trigun Ladies Week everyone! For this event I picked a Tarot card to represent each lady and designed a Trigun-centric version of that card for them to feature in. This was my first ever foray into Tarot and it was very interesting to learn about! I’m also using the Trimax versions of these characters and have rendered each card primarily in black, white, and halftone to be reminiscent of a manga panel.

For Elendira, I picked The Chariot card. While we don’t get to learn much about her backstory or motives within the text, it’s clear she believes deeply in Knives’ goal and is committed to achieving it. When thinking about her I always come back to the moment in Volume 11 where she reveals to Livio that she’s planning to detonate the military’s nuke, taking it upon herself to ensure Knives’ vision is still realized, even if he himself fails. She knows what she has to do, is more than willing to take action, and is confident that her abilities will lead to success. And she even has a chariot to ride: the Ark.
