The 100 HORSE PROJECT

My 100 Horse Project 🐎 is underway!

I intend to sculpt 100 horses at 1:9 scale (about 25cm tall) because I want to seriously up my sculpting skills and I adore horses. So far, I have sculpted 2 horses. Horse#1 is called Boudicca, Horse#2 is called Troy. Troy is the one with the longer mane and the ball-bearing eyes.

Troy's back legs are wonky, so I'm not going to do any more detailing on him. On to Horses #3, #4, #5 & #6 instead. The wire and foil armatures are built, and they all have 3D printed hoofs. Initially I am using Monster Clay, which is not a permanent medium. I want to explore lots of different sculpting mediums during the 100 sculpts. I haven't set a time limit and don't intend to, either. I love sculpting and I don't care how long this project will take me.

I've been painting terns and an oystercatcher on the outside of my studio workshop. A few more oystercatchers to go and I'll be finished 🙂

My prints of Golden Myth are now available in two sizes in my Etsy shop. Each print is signed and numbered in pencil. This print of Sir George Bullough's multiple prizewinning thoroughbred is sold to raise funds for the Kinloch Castle Friends Association.

12 Days of Christmas Wild Day 4: 28 Dec: Looking up: Wind-sculpted clouds. As a photographer, you always wish for interesting skies, and today's were stunning! I see a vague whale shape in this sky, and it reminded me of a sci-fi short story I read years ago: whales had been transported along with people to a new planet, but the winds were so strong that the whales took to life in the skies instead of the oceans. It may have been a Philip K Dick story, but I really can't remember - anyone else know it?
