In the same vibe as Silver being asked who is the most important woman for him in a Truth or Dare game with Blaze, Gold and Lilac standing right there...

Lilac being asked the exact same question by her own group of friends in their own game of Truth or Dare with Blaze, Gold & Onyx (and maybe Marine) standing right there (for whatever reason)... Would she go blue screen? Would she be able to choose?

I think she'd think it over a long time before conceding that they're all important to her in a different way, haha. She's got traces of both Silver and Espio, so she combines the passion of Silver's feelings for his friends with Espio's more diplomatic approach to things. Thus, she'll be able to point out various categories wherein all her female parental figures are The Best™️, so that all of them feel flattered in some way. If pushed that she cannot choose all of them and must pick only one, though, I figure she'll pick a very goofy option that nobody ever thought to ask her about! Like the lady at the grocery store who always gives her a lollipop or something, so that everyone knows she's joking and she doesn't step on anyone's toes.

“Why.”

“Why what,” Espio neutrally retorted.

“Don’t play coy with me, hun," Rouge remarked, sly little smile on her face that did not reach the sharp eyes looking Espio all over. "You already have a job. Have missions been so bad you’ve gone bankrupt?”

“We always manage to scrape by. But to say that we’d rather not have a bit more money burning in our pockets would be a lie, too.”

“Hmm. And then you want to become a bartender.”

“I was hoping for a nepotism-induced jumpstart to my new career here. After all, I like to think as myself as a most reliable and effective person.”

A laugh filled the bar, Rouge shaking her head. “You quit your self-aggrandising. But… I would rather have a dashingly handsome and well-behaved darlin’ like you behind my bar that whatever ne’er-do-well I can pluck out of the nearby alleyways.”

“Is this where you live?”

“No, I just took you into the den of some random stranger,” Silver snarked. “Obviously this is where I live.”

“It’s quaint. I quite like it.”

“Ain’t that good to hear.” All but throwing the cup of water at Espio’s head Silver winced, just a bit, as its contents splashed more onto their recipient than stayed in their containment. “…Sorry.”

“You are angry. I understand,” Espio of course had to say back, and Silver took just a little satisfaction out of the fact he could hurl a towel at the other next with no chance of casualties of any sort.

“You’re not here to drink water and be sappy.”

“Indeed I am not. I am here to talk to you.” With the cup clasped between his knees Espio wiped his face and body dry, towel held out again for Silver to begrudgingly take. He couldn’t let their hands brush together, it would make him feel worse. “Sonic found an Emerald, and I asked if it could bring me here… to make amends.”

“Today… was a good day. I had fun.”

“So did I,” Espio smiled back. “Thank you for spending it with me.”

Something awkward stirred in Silver’s chest, something hesitant. He’d never heard anyone say that before… “No problem,” he muttered back, making a beeline for the spot on the couch he’d been occupying for the past few days. The sun had already set, after all; surely Espio was tired and wanted to go rest.

The chameleon’s gaze made his fur prickle as he tugged at the blanket with his powers, but even that was not as threatening as usual. “Do you wish to go to sleep?” Espio inquired.

“It’s late, so…”

“…Hmm. Is the couch still to your liking?”

“Of course it is. Why wouldn’t it be?” He wouldn't describe the couch as anything particularly comfortable, but compared to the hammock, it was altogether lavish... even if Espio shook his head slowly.

“It’s not exactly the fanciest couch in the world. In fact, I feel like it is not unreasonable to say it is on its last legs.”

Ignoring some of the springs jamming into his belly Silver shrugged. “I’ll live.”

“Would you not rather sleep in a real bed? I’d be alright with you taking mine.”

“Taking- yours." Promptly the blanket froze in the air as Silver's eyes snapped up to the chameleon. "Where would you sleep?”

“I can meditate on the ground. That makes for good ninja training also.” Espio was hard to make out in the dark, Silver’s suspicious squinting not revealing much of the other’s face. “If you would rather stay here, I understand fully,” the other added, leaning a bit closer and fussing with the blanket until it was drawn over Silver’s body in full. “But I was just thinking… You do need to sleep properly, so…”

“Oh.” Worried, Silver figured. Worried as usual, but specifically for him. That worry that he still didn’t really know what to do with. But... “If you want me to, I’ll go. So you're not worried.”

“We’ll take a shopping cart, everything can go in there.” Trudging to a covered little space at the edge of the parking lot Espio pulled out something that Silver recognised as, indeed, a shopping cart, except this one was rather large and clunky and made with lots of sturdy metal wires and also clearly didn’t move on its own. “Charmy, get over here.”

“I want to fly!!” the bee complained.

“And knock everything down from the aisles? I think not.”

Espio fussed with the cart some more, some rack pulled into the cart and a plastic piece falling down into it. Charmy got snatched next, fussing and complaining as he got wrangled towards the contraption. “This is what we use to trap young children,” the chameleon deadpanned in the meantime, Charmy unceremoniously shoved between the rack and piece and his legs pulled through the open squares.

Silver raised an eyebrow. “Will you ever let him out?”

“Espio always says he’ll leave me here if I don’t behave, but he can’t because the cashiers know he’s with me and then they’ll get real mad,” the very cheeky explanation came, Charmy’s eyes glittering with mischief. Espio for his part merely sighed, the cart pulled into the shop with a lot of clattering ruckus on the asphalt and Silver following in the rear. At least the thing was more quiet on the tiles of the supermarket.

“It would be in Eggman’s interest to ensure Eggman Nega got stopped, and since Silver was right on his tail, him getting an ally in the form of me would aid towards that goal. I would argue Eggman is a probable candidate,” Espio concluded. “And also, something I remembered… Rouge said something about a client as well.”

“That bat-girl, huh?” Teeth baring Silver bristled. She’d taunted him about the Chao, laughing about how noble he was with that same scorn-filled tone the people of Selenite City had always struck with him until the truth had gotten revealed, and he didn’t realise he was poking Espio right with his sharp quills until the chameleon cleared his throat and the hedgehog jolted up from his musings. “Anyway,” he coughed, scooting to the side a bit. “What was that about?”

“No idea, I fear. She ran off before I got any information out of her… But, she clearly was working for someone.”

Rubbing his chin Vector hummed lowly. “You think her client is ours too, Es?”

“If we’re willing to entertain the notion that someone was pulling the strings behind the scenes, I deem that not impossible, yes.”

“Well, then we go ask her who her client is. Easy!” Silver determined, ears perking up… and promptly sinking again at Espio’s shake of his head.

“Rouge is rather tight-lipped about these sorts of things. Plus, even if we ask her, she’ll want something from us in turn.”

“Can’t we just fight her and get it out of her that way?”

“…No. Let’s not.”

In Stories, Silver originates from a good and happy future: I remembered that I never actually gave the name of his city (Selenite City) anywhere, so I had to retroactively add that to one of the chapters so it didn't come out of nowhere later, rip. But now I'm trying to imagine what his world would look like, especially compared to Sonic's era. I find it difficult to think of what potential technological advances they could have undergone in their daily life and what Silver might be used to compared to what the past is like🤔

I was working on my Japanese when a question popped in my mind: do you know if the Sonic cast uses honorifics for each other? As far as I know Cream does because she is polite whereas Sonic doesn't for anyone, but do you know if there's any characters who use honorifics for other characters?

Mhh, on the top of my head, Elise at first calls Sonic "Sonic-san" before being corrected, Amy calls Birdie "Kotori-san", and Big calls Froggy "Kaeru-kun" and Cream "Usagi-chan".

(I was fully expecting Gamma to call Eggman "Eggman-sama", but he doesn't. It's Eggman who calls himself "-sama" lmao)

It makes sense. Elise is polite, Amy is cute, and Big has those big bro vibes :P

Watching the Rivals 2 cutscenes again because of course, and another thing I noticed that indicates Silver is quite sharp is the fact he immediately takes note of the fact Espio knows his name, though logically that should not be possible because he hasn't introduced himself yet. Just something fun that made me go like "ah!"

Silver:

My boi. My baby. Favourite in the whole franchise for sure. I love his design, I think he's got a great personality that's multi-faceted and accentuates how incredibly kind and brave he is while also taking no shit from anyone (which simultaneously is shown as not really being a good trait), psychic powers are a huge intrigue of mine as well, and I just love him!! He's definitely the character who occupies my mind most from the whole franchise, and thinking about him always brings me great joy. No wonder he's basically the most-featured character in all of my fanfics, haha! Plus, I love the way how he's written in canon; I cannot think of a single game wherein I think his characterisation is bad (at most, I dislike the English moment in TSR where Sonic is trash-talking him and Silver doesn't pick up on that, but that is as much an issue with Sonic's characterisation as Silver's there). I dunno, I just love how "dual" he is, in a sense. He's got a heart of gold but is rude and a bit full of himself, he wants what is best for everybody but brushes people off and gets into fights with them to get there, he's impatient and (over)eager while also being introspective and shrewd. So yeah, best boy and my absolute favourite <3 He brings me joy!!💕💕

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Blue!!

Espio and Vector for the Ask Game

Good evening🍀

Espio:

Espio is one of those character where, if you'd told me in autumn 2014 that I would begin liking him as much as I do now, I'd just have been like "wut?", probably. For six years he was literally just one of those Just There characters for me. Sure, he was my favourite out of the three Chaotix, but that meant little when I didn't care so much for that group.

And then I started writing New Beginnings.

I don't know how it happened, but Espio grew on me tremendously in a remarkably short time. I really like his stoic ninja demeanour and serious, training-obsessed attitude which allows him to tackle danger head-on, while simultaneously being just as zany as his peers. It also helps that he makes such a good duo with Silver; Rivals 2 is one of my most-watched Sonic story on YouTube for that very reason. Plus, his design has also grown on me a lot! He's become one of my favourite characters to write for: sometimes it's even easier for me to write for him than for Silver. He's blorbo by proxy because @icycream24 likes him so much, haha! It's because of their art that I began liking Espilver so much for sure too, so that also helped with appreciating Espio more💕 Overall, I just really like him!

Vector:

Vector is a nice character that I also enjoy, just not as a fav of mine. But I do appreciate his rugged, loud-mouthed detective attitude combined with the fact he's also a bit of a sap, remarkably intelligent and shrewd when push comes to shove, and the leader of the team for a reason. I don't hate writing for him in the slightest! But that aside, I don't have any strong opinions on him (or Charmy, for that matter). A character that I like seeing pop up!

For the Ask Game: Tails

I think Tails is a neat little guy! For Sonic's best friend and most trusted ally, I like how they've managed to contrast their designs so nicely: not only is there the obvious blue-orange colouration (opposites of each other in the colour wheel) and the hedgehog-fox aspect (as foxes are predators of hedgehogs), but Sonic is also quite streamlined and smooth whereas Tails is more obviously fluffy, pudgy, and a bit asymmetrical in comparison. As for Tails himself, I like how he's both the tech guy and the more sensitive and soft-spoken person within his group of friends, though I also appreciate he's grown a bit more sassy and banter-y in recent games. I think it suits his desires to grow into being a hero of his own. Plus, it is obvious why he is so respected amidst his friends: he's absolutely a genius and his inventions are tremendously useful to them all. He's not one of my favourite-favourite characters ever, but I do quite like him!
