Silver sat studying him, and Sonic curiously raised an eyebrow back. What was it that his pal desired?

That turned out to lean closer.

And Sonic froze in surprise as arms flung around his back, and Silver pulled the two of them right into each other as his head slammed into the crook of Sonic’s neck. “Thank you. Just… thank you,” got murmured out.

Sonic found it quite hard to respond, because he was completely short-circuiting.

For starters, Silver’s nose nuzzled through Sonic’s fur. And the other also laid right on his legs still, heat radiating from his grey pelt and hands digging in Sonic’s back. And a purr rumbled in his chest also, his head rubbed against Sonic’s shoulder, he held on as if he never wanted to let go…!

“…Heh. Silver, you know that I like being friends with you, right? We wouldn’t be friends if I didn’t,” Sonic forced his mouth and tongue and lips to form, a smile tugging on the latter as well. Who cared that Silver reacted so strongly? The fact he did in the first place was sign enough he probably really needed to hear Sonic’s statements. And not a word of it was lied either, Sonic gently trailing his fingers over the other’s head as the purrs rumbling through him intensified a dozenfold. “Has no-one ever told you you’re friends with them before?”

“…No. Not like this,” got hummed out against him, a bit muffled. “To be fair, I never said it either…”

“Why not?”

“It never really felt like it fitted. Although, I never really put any thought into it. I have to keep the world safe. I don’t want help there, because it just puts people in danger. You can keep up and you know how to fight, but if anything were to happen to anyone else, I’d feel awful…”

“Hmm,” Sonic filled the silence, hands making petting motions over Silver’s head in his pondering. “But it feels like it fits now?”

“You said it first. I feel the same. So, yep,” Silver succinctly concluded, golden eyes peeking up out of Sonic’s pelt. And the psychic smiled, Sonic was sure of it. Hidden away in blue fur, and yet more radiant than the sun still.

Embarrassingly, I've only listened to a handful of new music this year if we're talking about album of the year in terms of stuff that was released in 2024 (though brat has been on repeat quite a bit recently).

But I think Genesis Owusu's Struggler is the one I listened to the most.

Well.... let me think of something that isn't already canon canon lol (from this ask game)

When she heard the news of that uhhhh.... something that escaped from the laboratories in Tenebris and that she was responsible for getting it back, you can inagine her becoming pretty furious. Especially bc it meant that she had to spent quite a lot of time on the Upperworld amongst humans and she really doesn't like humans.

So the first thing she did was go into the fight training rooms and massacre a few fellow Tenebrians that taught other Tenebrians in fighting (consensual of course).

She also kind of haunted a region in the Upperworld shortly after she got there. That's why travellers avoided going there after hearing of the rumors of demons terrorizing the villages and some villagers even decided to move. (You only get a little glimpse of that in the first chapter when the lady of a tavern tells Kendra to avoid that region.)

Everything between Jayce and Viktor can really be traced back to their childhood inciting incidents and it’s killing me.

Jayce: a miracle saves him and his mom, forever imprinting him with the certainty that miracles do exist, they can be controlled, he can save his loved ones no matter how awful things get, if he can just be smart and bold and quick enough.

Viktor: he saw the horror of what Singed had done—of forcing a creature to live against its will, of the degradation and terror of being fundamentally changed. For a while he thought he understood Singed, when he decided that he was willing to throw away all his principles to survive his own body. But he didn’t, really. He didn’t understand. There was still a line he would not cross. He wanted to die human.

It’s fitting, then, and unspeakably tragic, that Jayce is the one who played Singed’s role in the end. Because you can’t ask Jayce to let a loved one go, when he knows there’s a miracle that can save him, the solution is right there, it will work if you will just let him try—and so he forces a change onto Viktor against his will. He traps him into the Arcane, takes apart and reassembles his body, strips him of his selfhood and humanity. All so that Viktor will live. Singed wasn’t talking about the desperation not to die��he was talking about the desperation not to lose someone you love.

And so Viktor is…changed. He lives, whether he wants to or not.

And so Jayce loses him anyway.

The bois!!!! The sons!!!! Yeah, I've really warmed up to this ship in the past few months🤍💙 I think Sonic and Silver go great together personality-wise, with fun aspects wherein they are alike and wherein they contrast each other. Be it as good friends or romantic partners, I think Sonic and Silver work out really nicely together! It definitely helps that Sonic Channel explained well how they interact with each other and what they value in each other, too. But I'd love it if we got more content of these two in the games; I want to see them interact with each other!🥰

Sonadow

It is a fact that Sonadow is pretty inescapable in the fandom. It's the most-shipped ship by far, and I think no other ship rivals the sheer amount of artwork and fanfics that exist for it. But I align myself with Beev's idea here: a lot of it can feel pretty OOC to me. I can't say anything about the 2000s of the fandom (or even a good part of the 2010s; I joined fandom quite late), so I don't know how things were written then, but the Sonadow stuff currently I see on e.g. Ao3 seems far too soft and cutesy regarding Shadow's personality in particular. It's funny, because I love soft and cutesy ship stuff! That is precisely my bread and butter XD And that is why I occasionally read some Sonadow fanfics: they very nicely cover what I enjoy reading. But an in-character Shadow often would not act like that in my opinion, haha. And also Sonic occasionally gets written quite OOC in turn, as someone that Shadow needs to coddle and protect. So on the one hand, I like the fics made of Sonadow because they align well with my interests (though I don't read enough fics to be able to generalise much here, I do have to be honest). But on the other, I think the fics can be quite OOC. For fanart I can't say much: none of my moots really reblog Sonadow stuff, and I don't go look for it myself either, haha. But to each their own; I certainly don't always write the most IC stuff either for ship fanfics🍀
