"My, it sounds like you've experienced a lot. I'm sure you've made wonderful progress," she complimented him lightly, thinking back to his clumsy win against her. Even just speaking with him, the brunette could tell Wally had indeed harnessed his potential somewhere after their encounter. It warmed her chest slightly, seeing the transformation in person.

It went without saying that Roxanne enjoyed battling, and her duties as Gym Leader of Rustboro; there was always something to learn on the battlefield, and the many years she put into her training had profited immensely. But battling alone wasn't where she sought her pleasure. What she reveled in could only be found in the land of academia. 

"Ahh, yes, I'm very excited for the new term, as well. I've missed taking classes ever since I graduated from the Battle House in Viridian," she confessed, sighing lackadaisically; her passion was becoming harder to contain as the time went on. "But once classes begin, I plan to turn the entire university on its head!"

"I think perhaps I'll start with the Student Union. Say, will you be joining in any clubs?"

"Really?" Wally asked. "I’d think you’d meet a lot of cool people, hear their stories… then again, maybe if you were busy battling people, you wouldn’t have time for all that."

A smile. “Same, actually. As for how I’ve been… I guess my life’s pretty much the same old. Training hard, overexerting myself, getting really sick for a while, then getting over it and training harder next time. Coming to this school is actually probably the first new thing I’ve done for a while, to be honest. I’m excited about it.”

Following him out of the dorm and onto campus, Roxanne made sure to soak in as much of the new scenery as possible. "Really," she began, folding her arms, "life as a Gym Leader is pretty cut and dry. I've mostly been working, although I've decided school must take priority now, hence why I am here."

She giggled, before curiously looking over at the boy. "It's comforting to run into someone from back home," Roxanne thought aloud. "How have you been?"

Seeing that Roxanne had taken the effort to groom herself made Wally start smoothing down his own hair subconsciously. Realizing what he was doing, he stopped abruptly, slightly embarrassed with himself.

"All right, that’s fine," Wally replied. "I mean… it’s not like I know this city super well yet, either. But I know of at least one restaurant, so I guess that’s a start." He laughed lightly and began to walk. "So, um… what have you been up to lately, then? I mean, I haven’t seen you since I battled you. I don’t even know that much about you, really."

Staring quizzically, Roxanne's eyes narrowed. "Is that so?" Her tone was playful and had a flicker of amusement to it; it wasn't that she was dying for company, but the more she entertained the idea, the better it sounded.

"Alright then, one moment please." She turned back into her room, leaving Wally at the door just long enough for her to grab a few essentials. Roxanne glanced in the mirror, spritzing her wrists with perfume and dabbing her neck before straightening out her hair. Upon completion, she gave herself another look-over, sauntering back to the door and folding her arms. "I shall follow you, then? I'm still fairly unfamiliar with my surroundings."

"The same goes to you," Wally replied. Out of all the gym battles, hers was one he remembered more fondly. It marked the beginning of his independence, and being able to battle her on his own like that made him feel a sense of strength that he had been lacking before then.

He thought for a moment. “As far as I know, the dining halls are closed until the school term starts again. I guess we’d have to go into town and explore.” Realizing what he said, his cheeks turned faintly pink. “Ah — I wasn’t trying to presume or anything, about going with you. I just thought, um, maybe it’d be more fun to walk around with company, is all.”

Bouncing up to open the door, Roxanne is surprised to see a young boy with vibrant green hair. "Ah!" The mention of her Gym delights her, and she traces back to the very encounter he mentions. "You do look awfully familiar," she says absent-mindedly, shaking his hand and flashing a slight smile. "I wasn't expecting any company. This is a very nice gesture, I must say. It's very nice to meet you again, Wally."

While the commotion from down the way only grows in noise, the brunette shuffles her feet and contemplates her final plans for the evening. "So tell me," she inquires, tilting her head to the side. "Are there any eateries on campus, or must one go into Nimbasa to find dinner?"

Amidst all the noise in the hallway, Wally knocked lightly on Roxanne’s door. He had checked which room she was staying in, and since he didn’t know many other students (and had at least met her before), he figured it would be a nice gesture to at least say hello.

"Hello, miss. Sorry to bother you — I promise I’m not with them." He gave a soft laugh as he gestured to the rest of the troublemakers in the hall. "I don’t know if you remember me, but I battled you at your gym a long time ago. My name is Wally, and I just wanted to reintroduce myself to get reacquainted again before the term starts." He offered her his hand to shake.

Late-Nite Dorm Visits ||

Shuffling into her dormitory, the brunette sinks onto the clean linens atop her mattress. It had been a long day, what with making the trek to the University from her home in Rustboro in the span of her daylight hours. The journey from Hoenn had been an excruciatingly-lengthy one, and other than a light meal before bed, little else is on the Leader's mind.

She hears cackling and carrying-on going along down the hall; from the sounds of it, a rather rowdy get together. Don't people take their schooling seriously around here? Roxanne slumps onto the bunk bed, head tilting to the side. Socializing wasn't anything she was anxiously anticipating, although knew that, sooner or later, it'd be pivotal.
