A Note About Schedule and Check Ins
For the big bang I ran last year (which also had a 5000 word minimum), the final word count ranged from 6,124 words to 131,252 words. The big bangs I've run have had a few dozen participants each, but I've participated in big bangs with a far greater number of people. Both the number of words participants choose to write and the number of participants can have a big impact on how long the event actually takes.
I'm a firm believer that fandom events should be fun.
The schedule provides an organizational framework for that fun. I'm making it without knowing in advance the variables mentioned above. It can be modified if needed.
The check ins are so that I know what's going on in the event. That gives me the information I need to know if the schedule does need to be fiddled with.

Spotlighting
If you've participated in other big bangs, you're probably familiar with the idea of a posting date, which is the day where a team has to upload their entire finished work all at once.
This big bang does things a little differently.
Instead of posting dates, there's a posting period (generally, about a month), during which the teams can all post their fic and art. If they wish, they can do it all at once. Or they can do weekly updates. Or a new chapter every three days. Or whatever. As long as the entire work is finished by time the posting period begins and is entirely updated by the time the posting period ends, it's cool.
In lieu of a posting date, teams will receive a spotlighting date, which is the date that finished works are spotlighted on this blog. The spotlighting dates will take place after the posting period has concluded.

Writer-Artist Matching
Your humble mod is hard at work setting up the Discord server and sign-up sheets for this event, and there's something atypical about this event that I wanted to provide a bit of an explanation for, since most Big Bangs don't do it.
Writers and artists can sign up as a team.
Now, I want to stress that writers and artists do not have to sign up as a team. Nor is their any expectation that they will. But for those who want to do so, the option exists. The requirement to sign up as a team is that they discuss it beforehand. Then they each fill out their own sign-up.
So what happens if you don't sign up as a team?
Artists will choose fics to do art for based upon anonymous summaries. Teams will be constructed based upon the artist selections.
By the way, the reason the selections are anonymous is to avoid hurt feelings. Basically, think of a scenario where someone's friend doesn't pic their fic to do art for. Keeping everything anonymous avoids that scenario.
