Inspired by @cloversplace and this excerpt from one of her fics. She is amazingly talented.

Ponyboy would absolutely be having a meltdown at the payphone. I kept imagining him seeing a blue mustang go past as he walks home, framed by the sunset as panic sets in. Suddenly finding a payphone is less about calling the gang to come pick him up and more about the dial tone of each button he pressed playing into his ear in the familiar, repetitive pattern. Images of Paul Newman were ripped away. Replaced with a dark starry sky, a fountain, burning lungs, pain in his head, blood on his hands… dark curls running into the burning church…burning lungs again…Johnny and Dally shouting…gunfire… (It literally breaks my heart 😭😭)
