random thought: read a court of thorns & roses during a trip to france in '23 since it seemed like good airport lit, then the sequel because I wanted to commit to the bit. what fascinates me abt the, just admit it's porn type discourse around romantasy etc (seeing a lot of this in the comments on the above post) is that the sex-scene-to-page ratio was iirc pretty low? I think a day of fallen night the dragon book prequel which I read last summer had more frequent fucking, game of thrones etc comes to mind, but the book-as-porn label seems to get applied based on demographic/marketing more so than actual content. like genre lit for older readers regardless of gender has always been a bit lush &/or lurid hasn't it
